Although I showed up a little late (boo traffic), I was checked in promptly and began the exam with nearly 0 wait time. I saw Dr. Gogel (spelling might be wrong) for the first time. I was anxious because I've been seeing Dr. Olund for a few years and was unsure what to expect. Dr. Gogel is a ROCKSTAR. She absolutely crushes it! She is super friendly, super kind, and explains everything. She took the time to review my medical history before my appointment and did not need me to explain a lifetime of vision problems. You can't go wrong here. The staff is amazing. They truly care about the experience their patients have and strive to achieve greatness in the service they provide. I cannot recommend Focus Eyecare Center enough. I shopped for optometrists for about 10 years before meeting Dr. Olund. I vividly remember my first appointment with her. When I moved out of Southern Indiana I was extremely concerned about my eye care. I truly believe no one is better so I make the commute (only from Louisville, but it's across state lines lol). If you are in the market for a new optometrist, these are your ladies. There is no one better.

Customer service, empathy or concern for actually following their own established policies seems to be selective. At the very minimum the staff is rude and biased. At the horrendously worst they are racially judgmental. Speaking very calm I was told that I was getting loud and angry. Immediately I was told that no longer discussion was warranted and that I needed to talk to the office manager due to my "heated and loud" demeanor. I deal in conflict management daily at my job and even informed the clerk that I was displeased at the situation, but that a disagreeing perspective does not equate to loud or even angry in tone. I have had mixed experiences with the staff during my 15 plus years of treatment, but have never been treated like this. There generally has been a feeling of greater than thou or elitism instead of an everyone is welcome attitude. I at first equated that to having government insurance. I now have exceptional corporate insurance and treatment was not any different. I would have left and went elsewhere a long time ago if not for the care I received from my doctor. Dr. Woodruff has always been incredibly kind and caring. However, I will not be stereotyped. I am the very last to bring classism, race or any other type of prejudiced accusations into a situation unjustly but today's experience was putrid. To the office's credit, I could have been seen and dealt with the attitudes if I myself had been to my appointment exactly on time or early. That is on me. I fully take that responsibility. Oh well. I may make a BBB complaint as well but there are plenty other eyecare facilities. My treatment will have to be postponed for another month or so and I am thankful it wasn't excessively, medically urgent. Except for possibly picking up my records; I will NOT be back her again. His staff was wonderful and very patient. I called the office several times before and after surgery and they always had time to reassure me. They charge a premium contact lens fitting fee which is a joke as they do nothing but give you a pair of trial lenses. On top of all this is the bait and switch they pull on the brand of contacts. The trial lenses that I got were not the same as what was out on my prescription. Surprise surprise what they put on my prescription was much higher priced than what I was given with trial lenses.

Many patients are scheduled for the same time and then expected to wait. The last few appointments have had waits of over 2 hours. We have stayed because my parents like their doctors, but the office manager/scheduler needs to change the way they schedule and stop overbooking. Many of these patients have mobility issues and this is unfair to them and their caregivers.
