The doctors are nice and professional, but this place has a severe office management issue. I've been bringing both of my parents here for years and it's always the same issue. Many patients are scheduled for the same time and then expected to wait. The last few appointments have had waits of over 2 hours. We have stayed because my parents like their doctors, but the office manager/scheduler needs to change the way they schedule and stop overbooking. Many of these patients have mobility issues and this is unfair to them and their caregivers. read more

Made me pay everything upfront. When insurance claims filed with my health insurance, deductions were applied due to John kenyon having a contract with my insurance company, but they made me pay anyway. And, surgery did not help my left eye. They didn't even follow up with me about my left eye even though they told me they were not happy with results. read more

Do not go to John Kenyon unless you want to pay for your exam even if you have insurance. Went for a follow up eye exam, nothing special. I did not have my insurance card with me at the time so I wrote the Company name, Policy Number and group number on registration form. A week later I get a bill stating my insurance company was billed and they paid nothing. I checked my insurance company website and nothing has been filed. Called the billing department, which is a call center in India, gave them my current information. They stated they would refile; no claim filed in my account after a week. Sent a request via the John Kenyon website message page asking for assistance. Received a phone call from a person with a heavy accent from India asking for another person, later I assume they were trying to reach me but using the wrong name so they could say they tried. Sent another text message via their website, with insurance information again and this time to contact me via email because I have a hard time hearing. No response, just paid the bill. What a waste, there are plenty of other places to go that give equal or better medical service and can file an insurance claim. read more

I came to John Kenyon years ago when Dr. John was still at the clinic. He did my original surgeries under an investigational study. I continued going to the clinic at his request for follow-up even though it was a 3 hour drive for me. I have continued to go to the clinic after he retired due to the number of issues I have had with my vision (not surgery related). Unfortunately, I have seen an extreme decline in service since he has left. Among my chief complaints is that they cannot seem to keep patient visits on time. I asked when I check in if they are on time and they say yes, but then you are left setting in the waiting room for an hour prior to being called back and your visit even started. It is disrespectful and rude. I would no longer recommend the doctors or the facilities to anyone. read more

Dr. Lazarus is my regular doctor and he is absolutely AMAZING! I was not able to see him for my latest visit, but Dr. Finch was outstanding! I appreciate how quickly she handled my issue and gave me all of the information I needed. She was extremely thorough! I had the Surface Ablation Surgery in both eyes on 12/17/20. I had been very nervous for the surgery, especially since with COVID my boyfriend could not go inside the building with me. From the moment I entered the office, the secretaries at the front desk were very kind and welcoming. Once I went back to see the nurses, everyone was very friendly and explained in detail what I could expect. When it came time for the procedure, I was still nervous, and the nurses were so considerate. One nurse even kept her hand on my shoulder the entire length of the procedure! Dr. Piracha performed my procedure. He was very quick, efficient, and professional. (The procedure really was not bad at all, and very quick) I cannot recommend this office and Dr. Piracha enough !!! I have never been to a doctors/medical office where the staff were so welcoming!! 5 days since my procedure, and everything is healing well. Very glad I chose to come to John Kenyon! ALSO, I am a special education teacher. My students had been very interested/concerned about the procedure - as it had caused me to miss a couple days of school. The nurses made sure to get me extra copies of my eye scans as well as a photo of me with Dr. Piracha to share with my students! read more

After sitting in the waiting area and room for over 2 hours and I looking out the door and the DR. and nurses we cutting up and laughing. I asked how much longer will I have to wait and they said oh maybe 15-20 min. I walked out!! Really??? Like my time isn't valuable? This office is ridiculous for waiting times.. You should have a half a day to got to this Dr.s office. Update! Deana called from John Kenyon and said she would look into this Dr. & Nurse's issue/ long wait times. UPDATE: you'll need to return a few times post-surgery to have the Doctors check your eyes. This is my final post-surgery check up and I'm thankful for that! There seems to be no system in place to manage appointments. The waiting at this practice is maddening! I'm a working professional and find it more than a minor inconvenience to watch the clock tick away as I, once again, sit in their waiting room on 15 year old furniture being forced to be assaulted by The Kelly&Michael Show playing on the TV. If I wasn't confident that I was receiving the best eye care available in the area, I'd bail. I still highly recommend, but temper your expectations for anything that resembles on-time, well managed check-ups. By the way, surgery day will run like clockwork. It's just the pre and post appointments that are frustrating. Last thing, I'm almost 55 and my vision has been tweaked back up to 20/20 so I guess the waiting is a small price to pay in the grand scheme of things. ORIGINAL REVIEW: I had LASIK performed by Dr. John about 10 years ago with stellar results. Just recently has a "touch up" to my right eye by Dr. Piracha using ASA. These results aren't as immediate as LASIK, but I'm definitely seeing improvements as each day passes. I recommend this as a fast, affordable and pain free vision enhancement if you've previously had LASIK. As others have remarked, be prepared to wait. One last thing, I think the furniture and interior finishes are the same as when I was here a decade ago. Don't let that cause you any concern, this place provides top rate results. read more

I would give negative stars if I could. After cataract surgery I developed a massive infection inside my eye. The dr said to use the drops and come back in six weeks. I went to the University and they did surgery to clean out the infection. I most likely would have lost the vision in that eye without the surgery. Also my pupil was damaged during the cataract surgery which really affected my vision at night. I just had a 3rd surgery to correct the iris/pupil. Go somewhere else!!! read more

I had LASIK here almost 8 years ago and I'm still seeing 20/20. Dr. Piracha and his team are the best and make the whole process really easy. I felt at ease the entire time and had someone there holding my hand throughout the surgery. I'd worn contacts/glasses since I was 8 years old so being able to see 20/15 (better than 20/20!) the next day was an incredible feeling. Just wish I had the surgery earlier. I had LASIK at John-Kenyon in 2009 and have been so happy with the results! LASIK was a life changer for me, as I had a lot of issues with contact lenses drying my eyes out. I can see more clearly with LASIK eyes than I ever could with contacts or glasses. Dr. Piracha and everyone at John-Kenyon were very professional and I never felt nervous about the procedure. Amazing Experience. After getting fed up with dealing with contact lenses, I started my search for the best surgeon to go to for Lasik. Being a physician myself, I started asking around and the same name kept coming up, Dr. Piracha. The whole experience was perfect. I have a difficult, unpredictable schedule, but they were also able to accommodate. The whole team was very professional and friendly. The procedure itself was painless, as was the recovery. While others I had talked to spoke of the "sand in the eye" feeling postop, I experienced none. Within days, I was seeing better than I ever did with corrective lenses. Thank the heavens I decided to get a second opinion before having eye surgery here. I initially went here for a lasik consult after seeing one of their adds thru local media. The exam was no charge then they sat me in front of pictures of local news anchors who supposedly had their eye issues fixed at this place and gave me a price for LASIK surgery. I felt like I was buying a used car. I was told I could have the surgery after Dr Pietra exhumation. A week later I went to a different eye doctor to get an exam for LASIK so I could compare and this doctor told me I could not have LASIK that I in fact had glaucoma eye disease in both of my eyes and I was losing my vision. If I would of had LASIk my results could of been blindness. I would not recommend this place ... read more

The entire process was fantastic. From the free consultation to the actual procedure being done. The entire time I had someone telling me what was going on. You are allowed to have your loved ones watch the entire process. They went over everything you need to know before your appointment, then after make sure you understand you post op processes. You can usually find groupons for cheaper procedures, but when dealing with your eyes, it is not the best thing to try to save a buck, well worth the cost. When I walked in to the room today, could look across the room and see it was 72 degrees and the thermostat was set at 68, without glasses, I knew I made the right decision. My vision is now 20/15. read more

Well I do have to say they are nice people, but I had my only and last cataract post surgery on my left eye, which did well and feels good. My right eye which I had done 2 months prior, just does not feel right. Told Dr Piracha that I see a dark line on the corner of my eye and a dull ache in my eye a lot. He said everything looks fine and the shadow is reflected of the lens and said it should have gone away by now. ....ok...(The other doctor on that post surgery said it was where they made the incision.....ok. ) He was with me for about 4 minutes then said I can follow up with my optometrist for my glasses. read more

I was looking forward to having vision correction surgery with John-Kenyon, since they were so highly recommended to me. However, it has been almost 6 weeks now, and they have still not scheduled my surgery. After about 2 weeks, I was finally told they were waiting on a piece of equipment to be calibrated. 5 days ago, I finally got an email that the equipment was ready but still no return call to schedule. Tammy W. is my contact person in the office, and I tried calling once every 1-2 weeks because my workplace needed to know when to schedule me off. However, Tammy would ignore almost every phone call. She would tell me she would call on a particular day; or the office would tell me I would get a call by the end of the day, but this would not happen. I received one call and one email in the entire 6 week period. This is just not acceptable. At a minimum, I should have been more well informed. Now work schedules are made out to the end of the year, so I have very limited scheduling options, and the money in my flex spending account may expire before I can get scheduled--both of which were concerns I mentioned in the first consultation. I would have chosen another company if I had known this was going to happen. I am currently looking for somewhere else that does want my business. read more
