When the work was finally completed, we were left with no grass, no flowers and no plants - pretty much a barren wasteland that looked horrible. As we put the word out to landscape designers, we started to get contacted by several companies wanting to quote the work. Steve from S & L was the first to respond. He was punctual and professional at the estimate appointment, COMPLETELY understood the assignment as we described what we wanted and provided a very reasonable quote for the work we requested (he even provided us with a thorough sketch of our vision the very next day!) This was a marked difference from the other companies - some wanted to charge us just for their plan (!), some had to be chased down for a follow up, some missed their scheduled appointments and others were ridiculously high with their estimates. Throughout the planting/installation process, Steve and his team were in constant communication with us, asking us to check their progress as we moved forward so that we were all on the same page (even offering GREAT suggestions). My wife and I could not be happier with the results. We have a beautiful lawn of new sod, several beds of native Florida plants and trees and dramatic uplighting that makes our home look like it was photographed by House and Garden. We honestly couldn't recommend Steve and his team enough. We're VERY happy customers!

Our yard was unsaveable and the HOA was breathing down our necks. We bit the bullet and got 3…read moreestimates to have the old sod removed and new sod replaced. We chose Madewell because they were reasonably priced and didn't try to BS us like the other two. Not sure why some contractors think eveyone is ignorant just because they dont want to be bothered with doing the job themselves. We did our homework. This was a 3 stage process. Stage one...spay and kill off the the old grass and weeds. Stage 2...the next week they removed all the old dead grass and weeds. Stage 3...laying of the new sod, which actually happened over a month later because of COVID-19 and waiting for good healthy sod. They also adjusted all the sprinklers if needed to make sure there was adequate coverage. The sod was delivered from the sod company and looked beautiful and healthy. We watered for 30 min, 2x a day for a month. Our lawn is absolutely beautiful and healthy and by week 3 had already taken to the soul. We get compliments all the time. My neighbors are probably just happy not be looking at a dirt yard any longer. Things that I found issue with along the way: clean-up wasn't as good as I would have liked, but I am very particular; and communication was not the best. Despite that, I couldn't be happier with the end result.

I had to reschedule a couple of times (have a 6 month old baby at home, my schedule is constantly changing) so he stopped returning my texts/calls. Then I told him that I'm not gonna pay him the $40 service call fee (not repair) and that the job is off...then I called him, we talked and he sent someone to do the job. I paid a total of $100. Month and a half later I get a water bill for $180 when normally it's around $65 and notice that the backflow device they put in has been spraying/leaking water for who knows how long. Called him and he said they'd try to get to my house that night. Didn't hear from him again that day. Texted him next day and he said rain delayed them 3 days and he would have an idea of when they can come at the end of that day. Didn't hear from him again that day. Once again, next day, I texted and asked him when they're coming, no response, called him, no answer, texted him saying hope I don't have to keep chasing him to fix something they didn't do right in the first place. He got back to me saying to be patient or find someone else. I told him sure I'll find someone else and leave you bad reviews all over the web. That got him to finally take my address again to send someone over the next morning first thing. And here is the climax of this story: I textex him my address then got a response from him saying: "This a**hole's is that new Yorker that you reconnected his backflow device. He says there's a leak there and it's our work failing I do not believe it however if it is simply fix it and leave if it is not tell him it is not and leave" . He accidentally texted me instead of his employee!! (I have a screenshot of the text and will post if google allows). Looks like mine is the 2nd bad experience with this guy in the recent times after him having so many good reviews... Maybe it's time to retire before you have to deal with other "a**hole new yorkers" Eric...

The owner actually came out as all the other techs were on calls. He was honest and up front about price and got us up and running again. Very personable, and I will definitely use them again.

In February I had Milton irrigation come to my lakefront property and redesign my lake irrigation…read moresystem and to bring my system to optimal function (clear out all the pipes etc...) because I was having problems with muck clogging my the system. They recommended that I have the system go under my dock and stop at the end of the dock. They installed the system several feet off the ground and two months later when the lake dropped as all lakes in florida go up and down, the system started sucking air, melted one of my pipes to the pump and burned out the pump. My irrigation system is not working at all at this point. I called Milton and asked them to fix their design, stand behind their work - they told me that it was my fault because I had told them to put it there which was not true at all. My exact words were that they were the experts and I needed them to design it so it would work - that I trusted their expertise. They wouldn't even come look at it for three weeks. And they came out this morning and told me it was my fault and I would have to pay for them to redesign the system. So $692.00 later I have an irrigation system that is worse off than it was before they got here and they were 100% unwilling to correct their mistakes and stand behind their work. The owner was rude. Did not take responsibility. Called me a liar and I kicked his crew off my property.

I had Matt B (Nephew of Jim - Owner) at my home yesterday to service our 8 zone system as our Rain Bird System had an error code. He came out assessed we had a dead solenoid, as well as some heads that required service, and a necessary new pipe and irrigation installation. His initial estimate was on the high end but he later explained to me that it was secondary to potential increase in time (charge by hour), should they encounter tree roots, etc. Made sense to me. The eventual price was quite competitive. I had already written a check for the high end estimate, and gave it to him. When he finished the job, he actually handed it back to me telling me the bill would be ~ $100 less! He could have totally kept the extra money and I would not have known differently. Talk about fairness and honesty! To say we are thrilled with this company is an understatement. Thank you Agape!
