This is an art. Sean helped me on the phone - taking my request on a Saturday and scheduling me. Their price was in line with other quotes I had received but the positive reviews on Yelp and the photos cinched it for me. Mark, James and Paul picked up my 500 pound Kawai upright in a ground floor location, loaded it carefully on the truck and moved it up a very narrow flight of stairs using blankets, pullies and quite a bit of finesse. I was very impressed with their efforts, strength and professional and affable demeanors. I called Bennett Piano Movers for help moving my upright Yamaha piano from a townhome to my new home. I had an appointment scheduled in less than a week. On moving day, I had to call to narrow down the window of arrival and I was a little disappointed the communication wasn't better or more proactive. However, this is still a five-star review because I was so pleased with the movers themselves. James and Paul could not have been nicer or shown more care for my instrument. They navigated a few stairs and tight corners with total ease and precision. And they were very friendly and professional. The cost of the move was reasonable and I tipped the gentlemen generously. Called for a quote to move my piano. The owner asked if there were stairs at the pick up location and I told him yes, one flight. He quoted me $450, with a $30 discount for cash. I scheduled the move, but when they got there the movers said they didn't know there were stairs. They called the owner who denied knowing about them. (He probably just forgot; he is a little long in the tooth). He said "we can come back tomorrow but it will cost you more." I cancelled the order. My advice is to get a quote in writing with everything spelled out beforehand. Or better yet, use someone else to move your piano. read more

After calling around and inquiring about the cost to move our baby grand piano from our old home to our new home, we decided to go with Bennett Piano. The piano, which had been recently rebuilt and refinished, was damaged during the move in three years ago. Understandably, the previous damage was pointed out and pictures taken for Bennett's protection prior to moving the piano. Honestly, our project was a difficult move, as there were two 90 degree turns going down the stairs. After a couple of attempts to move the piano out of our home, one of the movers telephoned their boss to update him on the difficulties they were experiencing. Their boss, who was the same guy I initially spoke with about the cost of their services, immediately telephoned me to let me know he didn't want to receive any claims associated with the move because it was a difficult project. After stripping everything that could be easily removed from the piano, the movers were successful in getting the piano out of the house. Because our new house would not be ready for a couple weeks, the piano was taken to Bennett's storage facility. We were charged upfront for a month's storage (minimum) and for the moving cost. On the move-in day, the movers were about 5 hours late getting to our house. Once the piano was in the house, we discovered a really bad scrape on the piano and one of the ivory keys was broken. The movers and the boss (over the phone) denied being responsible for the bad scrape, indicating that it was pre-existing. It was not. Conveniently, the digital pictures taken of the piano's condition prior to the move were no longer available. In the spirit of transparency, Bennett offered to subtract $50 off the cost of their services for the bad scrape. The most shocking revelation related to our use of Bennett's services was the fact that the final cost to move the piano ended up being double the initial quoted cost. We were told that the initial quote was for move-out, only. I guess the boss assumed we weren't interested in having the piano back. In addition to paying twice the initial quote, the piano was not tuned as initially promised. read more

Our Baldwin Acrosonic piano has been moved twice - the first time in the 90's by several of us very stupid people out of my Dad's house in Baltimore, where it had resided since new in 1966, and into a truck, then out of the truck in Atlanta into my residence. Well, we were younger then, although we were in real pain for a few days. We are empty-nesting and none of my siblings, especially the one who could actually play it, had room for it. So we found it a very good home and they arranged for Bennett Piano Moving. These guys made it look deceptively easy. They had a ramp for getting into the house, they had a dolly, they had a technique, and the whole thing took ten minutes. Wrapped it up, latched it down, and off it went. If I had been keeping it I would have used them for tuning and repair and anything else it needed. One thing I was surprised about was that they also STORE pianos. Called them with a days' notice when we had to get our upright Steinway unpacked from a 20ft Uhaul over a weekend and though expensive I have to say the owner was super flexible and worked with us. They safely moved my piano without damage and were knowledgeable about its special requirements. Disappointing. Phone call at 8:30am to arrange a piano move. John assured me could do it. Asked me to follow up with text message of address. Verbal and text confirmation that he would be there between noon and 2pm. I waited, arranged my schedule to be open for him. At Noon, nothing. At 1pm, a text saying can't find enough crew to help and doesn't know if can make 2pm window. All handled over text message, I advise that I've got other things to take care of today and will need to drop payment to lower price if he can't make promised Noon-2pm window. He says can't lower price but assures me he will be there but doesn't know when. I reply that I'm canceling and I'll find another mover. He texts me a sad/crying emoticon. Nice and professional. Wow.
