I have reviewed them elsewhere as well.... Brought my car for vibrations. I had previously did all my motor mounts with them earlier. Because of that, I didn't think it was the mounts so soon. I brought it to Volvo and even they said it was the mounts. I brought it back to them (Bennetts) and they revved the engine to test the mounts and denied it BUT reluctantly agreed to replace the trans mount and the front upper mount on the passenger side and order the parts. When I brought it back to get them done, they changed their minds and only replaced the trans mount which did not help. I brought my car to a shop that they (Bennetts) recommended because of a different issue that they could not handle.....Since the new shop had to remove the mount that Bennetts DIDN"T change to get to my other issue, I told them to just replace it, (at my own cost even though the old part was still under warranty and Bennetts refused to replace it), while they were there. Which they did at no extra charge for the labor...Low and behold, the car rides perfect with no vibration what so ever!!! It WAS the mount that Bennetts decided not to warranty and change after all!.... Poor diagnosis technique to say the least and they will find a way not to honor their warranty... This place is great. A lot of times, when you make an appointment at any car shop, you don't actually get things done at that time. Here, it gets done. I have come twice and they have been busy both times, but my car gets taken care of at the time it's supposed to be. The prices are great too. I will definitely be coming back. I just moved to Smyrna my wife woke up to a dead battery while I was out of town. They towed my vehicle November 16 did not hear from them for a week. my wife called and They said they were busy and the car would be brought in soon. Another week went by and they said they have car in the bay. Four days later my wife calls again which would be today December 5. I have replaced the battery and the car has a check engine light on. It's gonna take them sometime too order and get the parts. to continue diagnosing. At this point we are just coming to pick up the car today and take it to another shop. They said it be $660 to put a battery in my car. I understand the towing and 200 bucks for a battery what's $660 is ridiculous to put a battery in my car. read more

Had a situation with my wife's 2014 Elantra, the AC had stopped working right before her trip to Florida then Califorinia checked with friends and family and found the right place to go. I dealt with Rick, he was super professional and did a incredible job not only repairing the AC but also noticed the right rear tire had 2 nails in it and fixed at no additional charge, after finding out my wife was doing a cross country trip he did a full safely check and topped off the fluids. The price was less then I had been quoted at other places and much less then I expected as he found a bad blend door that was the main problem. Outstanding job by him and everyone at the shop was extremely helpful. On a side note they stayed late to complete the job so my wife got on the road on time for her trip! Failed to take responsibly! Warning avoid this business! Seemed great, fast prices, great reviews - but when they caused more damage and didn't repair my truck, they refused to take responsibly, A simple repair estimated to cost less than 200$ -glow plug remove and replace, oops! Then, they tried to remove a stuck bolt. (glow plug cylinder #2). Jim Bennet - owner said 'I'm sorry, we broke the glow plug off'. When asked: "how are we going to fix this?" He replied saying "it's not our responsibly." Then my drivers side door, inside handle, stopped working! They found a broken cable inside door. That makes 2 things broken, and a full day spent waiting for them. The broken glow plug, in the cylinder - estimates for repair are coming back in neighborhood of 2 to 3 THOUSAND dollars, so far. EVERY other mechanic I've approached has told me over and over that if they were to have done that, they would either fix it, or pay to have it repaired. Bad form Jim Bennetr, bad form. read more

Trust is everything. Since it must be earned gradually, it requires patience for both parties: The customer and the vendor. No one ever "bats 1000" or gets it right every time, but Bennetts has constantly worked to earn our trust. Roughly 10 years ago we tried Bennetts for an auto repair. They called with bad news, I'm sure: "It's the thingamabob and it's going to run $Too Many Hundred dollars." Having dealt with auto repairs throughout my life I know first and foremost Bennetts has never tried to sell what I don't need, and secondly that they have not only been painfully honest but made efforts to be reasonable on the price of repairs and turnaround time. On a Monday morning a few years ago my sister called from 10 hours away to say my dad was probably not going to make it through the night. We had just flown home a few days earlier, and now we needed to return. One problem: Our car needed work. We already knew about that, so we called Bennetts to see if there was any chance they could do it. I also knew by then that if they couldn't, they would likely tell us who could get it done. As it turned out, they were able to work us in. We were on the road before noon. We drove all day and all night. I arrived to be with family before my dad passed away and spend time with him. Maybe we could've caught a plane or rented a car, but our first instinct was to ask Jim and his team if they could help. They did. Recently we had our car in for a repair -- first one, in fact, since that fateful day three years ago. Car wouldn't start. Battery, starter, alternator were all fine. That probably meant the fuel pump, and just to check that was a steep price. We consented, and we learned that the fuel pump was... in great shape. Ugh. That hurt. They were able to track down the problem and find an unexpected electrical issue. They fixed it. It wasn't cheap. But I did not complain. I paid it, thanked them, shook their hands, and was on my way. I trust them, and they've never taken advantage of that. When you put your personal name on your business you're really putting yourself out there and risking more than a professional reputation. It's your good name, and sometimes it's all you have. Jim Bennett earned my trust long before my dad passed away, sure, and his team solidified it that June morning. If you need to have work done on your car, give them time to earn your trust. He gives great estimates and even warns of upcoming repairs - like when brake pads are wearing down - so that I can budget for them ahead of time. Wow, I'm glad the other couple of people had a good experience at Bennett's because I didn't. I guess when I hear someone quote me a price on something I trust that they will stay true to their word. When I came by to pick up my car it was double what the guy quoted me over the phone. It's really sad that a company has to shaft people to stay in business but hopefully somebody else will speak out again this kind of stuff. $800 dollars for 4 rotors and pads on Nissan Altima....what a ripoff. I have taken cars here for several years and always had good experiences...til this one, I called to question the high estimate..... they suddenly found the same brake pads for less???? Why not quote that originally?.....$40 shop supplies charges along with 69.74 for Brake fluid service ....really? I could buy a whole lotta brake fluid for that price. I understand and agree the 200 dollar labor charge but the rest of the pricing scheme smells like taking advantage of a 23 yr old kid !!! We took our Ford F150 in because the check engine light came on and then just stopped running. We noticed the serpentine belt was a bit frayed. We decided to have it towed to Bennett's because they have been in Smyrna for many years. They called us back and stated there was a bolt broke off in the crank shaft and it would take several hours to get it out but could not promise it would even be possible. They also said we would need a new harmonic balancer. The total cost would be $895 unless there was more to fix and they could not promise anything more. We decided to have it towed back home because of the price after my husband went up there and spoke with them disagreeing that it would take many hours to fix the problem .My husband was able to use a household drill and an EZ out extractor bit to get the bolt out in about five minutes with very little effort. He then found a new bolt for around $25 and replaced it and the serpentine belt in about twenty minutes. There is nothing that disgusts me more than dishonesty. We work hard for our money and can not believe this hometown company would lie so outlandishly. I will be sure to let the town of Smyrna people know how I feel about Bennett's. They will happily rip people off. We did not expect the work to be free, but we did expect it to be fair and reasonable. That is not the case with Bennett's Automotive. Cost Towing $120 (both ways), Bennett's Diagnostic $114, Serpentine belt $20, Bolt $25 =$279 I realize labor costs money, but that is a big difference and that includes towing that would not be part of their costs. There is nothing you can say that would make me feel better about this situation. read more
