It has been a tradition every summer to go to Bennetts. Unfortunately we were very disappointed this trip.The food was subpar. The oysters & scallops were sandy and fishy. They don't offer a different variety of platters for those not able to get or want buffet. (Disabled) For 7 people and a to go order, plus tip it was $550. The place is very spacious and can accommodate a lot of people. All the people are really friendly from the hosts/ hostess to your server at the table. They serve some mixed drinks, wine, and beer which is nice. I was curious to see what other foods they had besides crab legs since most of the photos were of crab legs. To my surprise they had a lot of options. They had a salad bar with Cajun shrimp, shrimp salad, and imitation crab. They had ribs, fried chicken, steaks, prime rib which was ok, and chicken tenders. They had really good fried scallops, fried clam strips, and fried oysters. The oyster Rockefeller and steamed oysters were also good. The crab legs were ok they weren't great but they weren't bad. If recommend staying away from the steamed clams, mussels, and crayfish unless you like it not seasoned at all. Totally bland. The crab cakes however were really good. The clam chowder tasted like potato soup. All in all though totally worth the money and the ingredients were fresh and tasty. I highly recommend them. Also they have coupons in the coupon book so make sure to check it. We got $7 off per adult with the coupon before 3pm. I gave them a 4 because of the steamed items lacking flavor and the crabs were ok. Other than that it would've been a 5. They also had a lot of options for dessert. So many seafood buffets at North Myrtle Beach, how to decide? And they all have almost the same offerings. So we made the selection based on reviews and comments. I prefer to support places that support the military. I called several places but just about impossible to get to a human. We decided on Bennett's. I was a little disappointed they offer no military discount but no idea what their competitors do. We were there for early dinner, just after the opening time, so we're seated right away. I tasted a few items, steamed oysters and mussels, but we were there for the Snow Crab and waiting for them to restock. Our (great) server Felisha saw the stocked and retrieved our first crab leg plates for us. The crab legs were very good but not seasoned very much, so we asked for, and received Old Bay Seasoning to add. Yummm! Very often Felisha stopped by to check on us and empty the discard pile. I switched and tried Fried items: Bang Bang Shrimp, Bay Scallops, Clam Strips, Squash and Oysters. Shrimp was good but no heat(?). Clam strips were just crunchy breading. Oysters were small so I picked through to get only the soft ones with some body. Surprisingly my favorite, other than crab legs, were the Fried Squash. Service was great! Food was amazing. My favorites were the fried scallops, prime rib, hand breaded chicken tenderloins (so juicy) and the crab salad from the cold bar. I went mainly for crab legs but I was disappointed bc the batch I got was flimsy and overcooked so the meat stuck to the shells, but I saw other patrons who had an easier time so they probably got the better batch. This is THE place for crab legs. They're fresh, meaty, and absolutely delicious. And - they are all you can eat! The rest of the buffet items were equally as good and were also all you can eat. The website looked a lot better than it was. Great, kind, friendly server. The food was not so good. Mostly bland and tasteless. Prime rib was what drew us in but it was the worst I have experienced. Everything was just low quality. Crab was watery and the meat was stuck to the shell making it time consuming and hard to eat. French fries were okay but that's not what we came for. We have tried many of these places in NMB and they are all about the same. Captain George's is orders of magnitude better, taste and quality wise for everything except the crab which is poor quality, watery with meat stuck to the shells. Out of the Bennett's, I personally think this buffet falls at the bottom. That is not to say you shouldn't go here! However it is slightly smaller than the other places and the day we went the crab legs weren't as good as the other times we have been. I'm guessing it's off season! I will say that our server Eduardo was amazing!!! He was attentive, friendly, and went above and beyond by offering to get us fresh crab legs when we ran out. Thank you Eduardo! You were fantastic. The food was over priced, looked just as terrible as it tasted, cold, and the seafood had an aftertaste like chlorine. The restaurants website specifically says if you sit down before 6pm you get $4.00 off, well the staff didn't honor this and argued that you need to ask for your check before 6pm. The server and manager were super argumentative and unwilling to honor what their website clearly states. As a Myrtle Beach local it was a huge mistake to dine here and would never recommend it to anyone. The quality for the price is horrendous. We wanted to give this place a try. So we read the reviews and figured how bad can it be. We arrived and were seated close to the buffet and ordered our beverages which were good. It was time to see what was at the buffet,. My date likes prime rib and what was on the buffet was dried out looking and placed under heat lamps. After several minutes a employee cut me a fresh slice that looked good, only to be disapointed as it was only slightly warm. Crab legs were good and plentiful. There was fried flounder that was soggy and unable to be eaten. They had kielbsa that also was left under heat lamps and was tough and dried out. There were other selections that were offered and to be honest they were either slightly warm or over cooked. The ice cream was soft serve and deserts were good. We spoke to the "manager" and told her that we did not enjoy this buffet. She stated that is the way their food is normally cooked. They offered a sub par expensive dining experience . We have tried the other seafood buffets/ restaurants on restaurant row. The Original Benjamin's two restaurants to the left has a better selection of fresh seafood and other items cooked to perfection. ( Much Better choice) We were not pleased with this dining experience and will not return. This is my opinion and my money, your opinion may be different then mine, that would be your money and opinion. We should of read the negative reviews and moved on two restaurants down to the left. This is a below average MB seafood buffet. I arrived 45 minutes after opening, and yet the food was cold and obviously not fresh. Most egregious: -Crab legs, the signature item, were cold, rubbery and unseasoned. -The Prime Rib looked really worn out, dry and unappetizing. -The steak was gray. Dry as a dog bone. -Most of the "hot' items were cold or dried out (salmon, whitefish, ribs, stuffed mushrooms, all of the fried seafood etc) -Even the sweet potato casserole was not good- it was a gooey mess of marshmallow fluff. -Additionally, the buffet itself is rather smaller compared to other competitors but at the same price point. -Furthermore, based on my experience, I HIGHLY believe a large portion of these 5 star reviews are suspect. I have been to numerous seafood buffets in the area, I cannot at all recommend Bennett's and would instead recommend Captain George's or Crabby George's. The scalloped potatoes were cold. The mashed sweet potatoes were good. The salmon was good. The fried oysters were good. The scallops were chewy. The crab cake had no crabmeat. The hush puppies were hard and not tasty. The desserts were lacking in offers, and the banana pudding used low quality vanilla wafers. Overall, the food quality and taste is low level. I would love to give Bennett's 4 stars but I can't. There are two reason's why. I have eaten here 5 times and I will still continue to go here, mostly due to the convenience and lack of other lunch choices in town. I want to make it clear that they are an overall good place to eat at BUT..... First, the fried chicken sandwich is some frozen chicken patty you can get in a box at the grocery store. I was really disappointed. This was my latest experience there. Don't even bother putting it on the menu if you can't fry a chicken breast. Just awful. The biggest nagging item for me though is their buns. The buns they serve their burgers and sandwiches on are too weak. They have no body and do not hold up. They literally crumble apart as you eat. The buns should have a little backbone. The crab cake sandwich and the BBQ are really good except for that terrible bun. Fix the buns and NEVER serve frozen chicken again and this place would be 4 stars. Nasty frozen chicken patty? WARNING!! Don't count on their website for information!!! It hasn't been updated since....Shep was a pup, maybe. We ordered off the menu because we could not justify the $45+ price for the buffet. The $27.99 1 pound Shrimp 'platter' (which the website displayed as $19.99 saying it came with a choice of potato and 1 trip to the salad bar) only came with a choice of potato or vegetables. No side salad (except with an upcharge). No slaw. Shrimp and potatoes with 3 hush puppies. Who needs a pound of fried shrimp!!! OMG! And if the wait staff tells you there is no upcharge for a loaded baked potato, they will be wrong. There is! There is no longer a Senior menu - or discount. And if they tell you they offer a Veteran's discount, it is only on the buffet. Not on platters. When I approached the 2 managers on duty, explaining that I was there BECAUSE of the website (which was grossly incorrect!), their response was to ask if I was given an actual menu upon arrival. They made no effort to correct the inconsistencies or to remove the upcharge that the waitress told us would not be made!! Be careful about their menu item pricing. Website is wrong. We had two people that didn't want the all you can eat so we got the menu for them. Website said $19.99 for their meal so after sitting down with the menu it said their shrimp meal was $27.99. According to the website it came with a one time salad bar visit which the waitress confirmed was true. The woman that seated us came by and complained that they were not supposed to be getting food from the salad bar and said we would be charged for the entire all you can eat price of $41.99. So we were mad at this point. They are doing false advertising and will get into trouble for that. So be very careful about this place. The waitress, Fiona was very good and very sweet to us. This place was "good". If you want all you can eat crablegs, other seafood, much of it fried, then absolutely go here and you will be very happy. It's a deal at $36 for all you can eat seafood. I spent much of my time in Topsail and generally make my own at home. If you are expecting never frozen, fresh, local seafood or baked fish or healthy options, this is not your place. They have items such as bang bang shrimp, mussels, oysters and lots of fried items, such as clam strips, shrimp, etc. There are some other random things on the bar also such as mac & cheese, potatoes, steak and kielbasa. There is prime rib also, which I tried, and it was ok. In a nutshell - if you don't get seafood often and want to pig out this is totally a good place to go. I've been to most of the buffets in the area and it's a mixed bag, you just never know what you'll get. If you're a seafood snob like me you'll want to go to a higher end restaurant and order your meal or just cook it at home. Overall I think this place totally serves its purpose. i come to this restaurant every year when I visit Myrtle Beech and it never disappoints. tonight was the first time I ordered a menu item (while the rest of my family got the buffet). The food was excellent as always, and the restaurant did not skimp on the portions. Wait staff was friendly all around, and the buffet price was the best priced out all the restaurants I called in this area. Every time we go to Myrtle Beach we hit up a seafood buffet, and I was very impressed with this one! Crab legs are one of my favorites and they put fresh ones out continuously. The waitress was extremely nice and provided excellent service, she was great with my 7 year old. The only reasons I didn't give 5 stars was because it was pretty price at $40 for each person and $20 for my daughter, and she really wanted Jello but they didn't have any. read more

There was a general lack of anything grilled and only two vegetable items present: broccoli and cheese and some greasy and cold fried Okra. For the menus items the price is a bit much.
