I came here for a classic steakhouse dinner and left feeling mixed. I ordered the ribeye cooked medium. It came out sizzling on a hot platter, which I love. Ribeyes are usually tender and juicy because of the marbling. This one chewed more like it had been cooked well done. For the price point, that was disappointing. The lobster was fine. It was cooked properly and not overdone, but it lacked flavor. I expected a richer, more buttery profile. It was not bad, just nothing memorable. The Caesar salad was also average. The plate was cold and it felt like the salad had been prepped ahead of time and stored in the fridge. Freshly tossed would have made a difference. Maria, our waitress, was great. From the time we arrived to departing the service was great. Our waiter, Alejandro was very attentive but not overbearing. I ordered the Ribeye Steak, which I like cooked medium well. It was a thick cut of meat, I don't like a lot of seasoning, therefore it was perfectly cooked and seasoned. The French onion soup was delicious. My husband had the Tuna which he said was good and plentiful. The beet salad was excellent. The decor and table setting is white linen, which gives the restaurant a classy atmosphere. Prime Dry Aged Ribeye (7/10) - Not sure if I tested much of the funk that comes with a properly dry aged steak. Benny John's was not the best experience. I made a reservation for 3 for Benny John's for Saturday dinner. Service was very slow. We ordered one mocktail, and two cocktails and it took at least 30 minutes for the drinks to come to the table. Also it took about the same amount of time for the free bread to come to the table as well. The bread had no flavor and was not good. I had the mocktail and it was also not very good - it tasted watery. As for the food, I ordered a burger medium well and it was definitely overdone. It was supposed to come with a zesty sauce and there was barely any sauce on it. The fries were decent. My friend ordered a side of wedges and they had no flavor. My brother ordered his burger medium and it was also overdone. Overall, I would not recommend Benny John's. I think they try to present themselves as a nicer establishment, but the food was very mediocre. read more

We went here for New York Restaurant month and had filets. The steaks were perfect as was my martini. The restaurant was not real crowded as we were there around 530pm. So it was quiet and easy to have a conversation. I find that most restaurants in New York have excellent food and the trendy places are NoT worth the wait. This was a good find in midtown. read more

Blue cheese dressing was perfect and their bacon was big and chunky and really added something to the afternoon. My wife also had an old fashioned that she said was "not too sweet--just right." A wonderful dining experience, especially if you're looking for great steak, excellent drinks, and top notch service. The restaurant has a quiet, romantic feel with jazz and low light ambiance. We had the lobster bisque (needed a little salt, otherwise excellent), the iceberg wedge (perfect, especially with the large hunks of pork lardon), oysters Rockefeller (incredible, just incredible), mac&cheese (buttery, creamy, cheesy) and split the 25 oz ribeye. That steak came out perfectly medium rare, pre-sliced to share, and needed nothing but to be eaten. The sauces are delightful, though the JB steak sauce would go better on an oyster than on steak in my opinion. What took the whole thing over the top was the service. Our server, Shereen, was sweet polite, patient, and well-humored. The waiter did not try to upsell the wine but chose one that would complement the steaks. Where do I begin? We ordered the filet mignon, the rib eye steak, and the sirloin. Each was cooked to a beautiful medium-rare. We ordered onion rings and sauteed broccoli to share and it was plentiful for three dinners. came here for a last minute bday nightcap and was pleasantly surprised. clean, and not very busy when i went. they are open late and serve food. the cocktail menu is also extensive and the cosmo spritz i got was excellent. the service was good but a bit slow. they also did mess up the order slightly by getting us two of the same soup but they fixed that. the seafood was fresh and the soup was hot and flavorful. it is not inexpensive but it is reliable! the fresh flowers on the table and classic white tablecloths are an adorable touch. would recommend sitting towards the back of the restaurant. read more

Waiters carry the drinks on silver platters, that kind of place. Waiter was very attentive the entire time without standing over us. Food was good, not amazing, but we just had lunch, 2 soups and shared a BLT. My French Onion was good, but the cheese was a little chewy, not the gooey you really want, but not overly salty which I find in a lot of places either. BLT was tasty with avocado and really thick slices which I liked, making the sandwich more "meaty". It was nice that they split the sandwich for us, always a nice touch. read more

I came here with a group on a Friday night during restaurant week. The place is clean and definitely has an afterwork, NYC steak house vibe where bankers and finance coworkers eat. Our waiter was not very friendly. As soon as our group mentioned that we were going to order off of the restaurant week menu, he became very curt and snappy with us, even rolling his eyes when we asked for the wine menu. I had the crab cake to start which is a huge patty of deliciously huge chunks of crab. I then had the steak for dinner which was more medium well than the medium rare that I requested. It tasted a little rubbery. The potato wedges were also undercooked and unappetizing to eat. The chocolate cake was decadent, smooth and delicious. Let's be honest about this place. It has a beautiful atmosphere but they have some serious issues. I can only speak about the oysters, because I stopped ordering food right there. There was a lot of shell left in them. It was barely edible. Their bartender Daniela is rude as hell. She doesn't know what she's doing, she doesn't know how to make cocktails (she has to ask the other workers for help), and on top of that she'd ignore me for 10-20 minutes while my drink was empty to stock or talk to other guests or her coworkers. She gave me some bread once and when I said thank you, she turned her back and said "Enjoy" plainly as she walked away. Probably the worst service I have ever received anywhere. read more

We also noticed the table next to us of four people only got three dishes and waited 30 minutes for the last guest to finally get their dish- we knew we were in for a poor experience. French onion soup was the only food that was good. My husband decided to order chicken parm- and for $37 you would think it would be a good portion. Unfortunately this was not the case, they brought it out and we stared at each other because it was a flimsy little piece of thin chicken with some breading, sauce, and cheese over it. We did think there would be pasta with it (which was our bad for not reading the menu closer) but we were shocked. Was also mediocre at best. My burger was fried to a crisp on the top. Fries were definitely sitting around and soggy. I do not recommend going here- save your money and go to a better place down the road for the same price. read more
