We arrived during lunch time and there was plenty of seating as well as lots people. The place is nice and the bar is located in another side of the restaurant, therefore the loud environment of a bar won't interrupt your meal if you're looking for something quieter. It is pretty big and has a bottom floor that was closed where we came in. Unfortunately, we did not see an elevator and my husband had to carry our stroller. The hostess was nice and sat us right away. She offered drinks and gave us the special when we came back. We just tried bills burger and since they don't come with fries, we got a portion of sweet potatoes for two people which was more than enough. The burger was juicy and delicious! 5th Ave food selection is slim so I ended up going into Bill's Bar to satisfy a burger craving. It actually surprised me. I ordered The Rock which is a 9oz triple decker patty burger with brisket, vermont white cheddar, onion rings, bacon, caramelized onion, ltp and rock sauce. It was a tower of meat and was very good! Some layers of meat were colder than others so can be improved. One thing to note is this place is geared towards tourists. So every little thing is charged as an extra. The burger doesn't come with fries - that's an extra. Side of sauce - extra. I saw a table in front me ask for mayo and that was an EXTRA charge. Pretty ridiculous. Good ol' American menu of course had overly sweet drinks and no modern options. I passed on soda and syrupy cocktails. But solid stop if you come for a quick burger and a possible food coma after. My family and I stopped here today while visiting the city and checking out the Christmas tree at Rockefeller Center. The hostess said it would be a 30-minute wait, so we grabbed drinks at the bar, but we had my daughter so did not sit at the bar. There wasn't anywhere to hang out and wait for our table which wasn't great, but it was ready in just over 15 minutes so that wasn't too bad. The menu doesn't have a ton of options, and my daughter only wanted pizza, so I had to run across the street and grab her a slice. I ended up ordering a Chopped Salad and it was actually really good! I went for lunch here today and felt like trying their buffalo wings. I've had the burgers and fries a previous time so wanted to try something different. Unfortunately the bone in wings Buffalo style disappointed. For $16 plus tax you get only 5 wings - that's right just 5. They were medium sized tasty enough but the price and appetite left me hungry and cheated in a frustrating way when you probably should have stuck with a burger for $2 more ( btw does not come with fries ). Here's the short take-away: outstanding burger, but service is challenged. Bill's makes a superb burger. Yes it is very overpriced, but you have to accept the premium paid for location in Rockefeller Center. It is a big and open space, which is very casual and has a relaxed vibe. Service is a mess: while the server was super friendly, it took three attempts to get a simple burger correct. I tried to convince my client to eat his while I waited, but by the time my correct order arrived his was cold. The amazing this is that we arrived at opening (11:30 AM), before the lunch rush. Our server repeatedly complained about how "stupid and clueless" his kitchen staff was. So here is the good news: the burger is outstanding. The patties are flavorful and juicy, served on a fresh brioche bun. The onion rings are also freshly made to order, and are not the frozen prefab rings, but rather sweet onion loops coated in a shatteringly crisp crust without the heaviness or grease so commonly found these days. So while the burger on its own merits would deserve a 5-star rating, the difficulty in getting the order right combined with a shockingly high price for a simple burger brought the final score down to a 3-star. Went in for lunch @ ~2:30pm. The place was pretty empty. We were promptly seated. We ordered the shrimp basket and BBQ wings to share and we each ordered a burger. Everything came out piping hot. Their wings were absolutely delicious! Very decent sized and very juicy. Their shrimp is "OK". I believe you get 6 small-ish to medium sized shrimp on a bed of French fries. I got the "South of the Burger" burger (What most places would call the Mexican burger) which came with Guac., tiny, pickled? jalapeños and bathed in queso sauce. The buns they use are pretty good; I'd say they have the correct density. It was a good burger. One of my friends got what seemed like a bacon, cheese burger (which looked great with all that bacon sticking outta its sides). He noted it was good. All in all, it was a good experience. I'd like to rate them a 3.5 stars (again, Yelp should give us the flexibility to give 1/2 points). It is a touristy area, hence the prices; $17-20 for a burger without fries or a drink. A very limited menu, but what they do, IMO, they do well. I can't quite say that they are GOOD, but they are definitely more than just "OK".
