A must try pizza spot in the Woodbridge area. We stopped in for lunch on Good Friday and there were so many meatless options. The plain is a classic favorite. You cannot go wrong there. The tomato sauce is sweet and the crunch of the thin style crust is delcious. The garlic knots ooh they were garlicky and fluffy. The marinara sauce pairs well to tone done the garlic as they were potent for my liking. But my boyfriend inhaled them. The Sicilian slice was different as the crust itself was fluffy and not dense at all. The vodka margherita was amazing and easily my favorite. We also ordered a tricolor pizza to go which had their tomato sauce, vodka sauce, pesto, and fresh mozzarella on top. They have their own parking lot and it's easy to get in and out of. My friend from Perth Amboy has been asking me time and time again to stop here. I've given every excuse as I wasn't too sure about this place. I do not remember what this place was before Benny's, but I remember it wasn't a good spot. What a can't miss this has become. My rating is a 8.9 and hands down the best pizza in Middlesex county. The owner is a very down to earth friendly guy. I wish that Dave Portnoy would have tried the pizza I had. I believe he had a traditional Large Cheese. I'll share the picture with you. Our first experience at this place was good Which is why we choose to come back here again. But today's experience was dreadful. Just like last time, me, my wife & daughter came but my 1 year old was crying. As soon as we walked in, the front girl server at register said "she's crying already?". In order to avoid a negative experience I said "yeah, we took away her lollipop so she can eat." I ordered a fresh pan half buffalo and half cheese with fries and asked her to make it fresh. We received the fries within 3 minutes which was a lot less quantity than before. The color of the fries was burnt and not golden but I decided to wait bc our pizza didn't arrive yet. The same server asked "how's the fries" so we decided to tell the truth and say the fries aren't fresh. She started to argue with us and justify the way they are cooked instead of offering to remake them. We took one or two fries for our daughter and decided to wait for the pizza. When the pizza arrived WITHIN 5 minutes she asked us how's the pizza and if she wants us to pack the pizza!!!! Like WTF???? I was still eating and she asking if we want to pack already. She then asked want us to take anything, I said yes take the fries to insinuate the fries are disgusting. At that point I felt offended and decided to just let her pack the pizza. At the end I get the bill and the same server tried teaching me how to read the bill like I've never ate out before. And guess what, she charged me for the fries we barely ate!!!! The WORST and most disappointing experience ever as we actually were looking forward to catering from them. Tip: treat customers better and don't ask how's the food and if they give you the right opinion ,,, don't argue!!! read more

I really wanted to like this place. Tried it for the first time but I wont be going back. Everything is lackluster except for the wings, JUST THE WINGS. Thats the ONLY thing worthwhile. We tried a bunch of things to get the overall feel of the place but it just wasnt there. Pizza lacked cheese and flavor. Even the plain cheese pie sucked. Thats like the base of a pizzeria, you HAVE to have a good plain pie. Meatsauce over pasta, again lacked flavor. You dont get that old school sauce taste like you do in someones home cooking. The sandwiches were uneventful as well. It just wasnt there, any of it. I grew up in north jersey and you couldnt find bad pizza anywhere, it was hard actually . That changed moving to Woodbridge. I got me a plain slice and a vodka margarita Slice, and boy oh boy those slices fricking banged. Followed that up with garlic shrimp and chicken Parm for my lovely lady in which she indulged and enjoyed and claimed she will be returning for more. Disappointing. Got a chicken Caesar salad, First, let me say, this meal is my go to. I get grilled chix Caesar salad often. I always get this from pizza joints. This salad was not good. Just a handful of shredded lettuce which was wet and soggy. Chicken cut up in tiny squares and the dressing tastes like liquid mayo. Take this off the menu or improve your technique. Lettuce should be crisp, crunchy and sliced. Grill chicken breast, then slice. Char/Grill marks are preferred. Season Chix with olive oil/ black pepper/garlic. Poke holes in top of container to avoid hot chicken from wilting lettuce or find a different kind of container to serve in. Try a Caesar vinaigrette or develop your creamy Caesar, this current recipe needs work. Garlic knots were hot, golden, crunchy outside, soft inside and perfectly garlicky. This was our second time at Benny's in the last month! The people here are very kind and the food is extremely fresh. We live about 35 min away and everything held its original taste and texture even during the ride home. The zucchini fries stayed crispy the whole way! The bennys seasonal salad was so refreshing and the eggplant rollatini was so flavorful. We also got a couple of single slices (not pictured) which were the best slices I've had in jersey. I got delivery through Grubhub. It was very late. The pizza was ok, nice thin crust but otherwise meh with lots of the cornmeal on the bottom. I give a low rating because of the "buffalo wings." I asked for them to be well done. They were the kind that's pre-breaded. They were rubbery and some were deformed, like where you couldn't find the meat. They were not cooked in the buffalo sauce. It was on the side. I'm not a fan of that. But worst of all, one of the "wings" was a broken-up thigh section. To me, dark meat on chicken is dog food. If someone presents me with dark meat, they are offering me a dog food dinner. They really need to switch the provider of their chicken wings. Thigh meat is not acceptable. read more
