I have had 3 appointments with this company. The first time they came without the replacement unit sent to them by Liftmaster so they could not do the job. They were supposed to be here the next day but were a no show with no follow up call. Today they were scheduled to be here between 12 & 2 pm and no show again. I would NEVER recommend them! They managed to repair an existing iron pedestrian door and installed a small section of iron gate in our yard. That worked out. But we also hired them to install a new remote-powered gate motor and overhead garage door motor. We are super unhappy with the work provided. Installation took twice as long as estimated and the contractors did not install or provide two items that were in the estimate which we paid for (a keyless entry pad and reverse safety sensor). But there are bigger problems. Problem 1: Our gate motor remotes will not work unless triggered only feet away from the motor. This means to get our car out of our gate, we must get out of the car, walk up to the motor, click the remote, get back in the car, move the car, get back out of the car, walk up to the motor, click the remote again, then escape the gate before it closes, and get back into the car. Not convenient and very frustrating to deal with multiple times per day. Problem 2: Within a couple months the overhead garage door motor completely detached from the garage door. The screws came out of the arm that attaches the two. We've re-tightened them several times to prevent this from occurring, but it continues to detach. I can only assume this is due to poor installation. This is dangerous and frustrating. Problem 3: When given the opportunity to come correct the above problems (in under a year after the first installation) Ben came out, looked at the issues, was unable to repair them, then promised to come back with parts and tools. He said he would come back several times. He never did. Sometimes he cancelled, sometimes he just didn't show up at all. This means I stayed home from work several days over the course of a month waiting for a no-show contractor. All of this work cost me $6k. Now I am hiring someone else to fix their work. I don't like having to write reviews like this. This is not fun for me and is just more wasted time out of my day. But hopefully I can save someone else the trouble of dealing with this company. read more

May 2023 -A young man named Ben came out, we told him we think that the garage motor was going out. He said that we needed a new garage door and new hinges. -Ben added five hinges and two struts costing $1345.50 -The struts were bent and dirty. -he told us that we have a six month guarantee -The warranty on the invoice says 30 days. -three days later, The garage door was popping and not working again. -we called back to let them know that the garage door was not working, Ben said he would come out the next day between 2 and 4 PM. -we noticed that the name of his company, the name on his shirt and the name on the invoice were different, so we asked Ben what was the name of his company and he would not tell us. -then next day, Ben called and said that his car was in the shop and he would not be able to come. -we then called the office and scheduled for a new person to come out between 2pm and 4 PM. -between the time of 2pm and 4 PM, No person from the garage door company came to our home, nobody called either. -the next morning we called again and asked when are they going to be coming to fix the door, we also asked about their business name and they refused to tell us. -They scheduled someone to come out between 2 and 4 PM. Again, Nobody had come or contacted us. We called the company again at 4 PM and they said someone would be out to our home by 4:15 PM. ****-in the meantime, things seemed suspicious, We looked at the invoice and discovered that they did not have a contractor license, address, or a website. They only had a phone number. -we searched for their business online and on Yelp, and could not find anything with their business name that was on the invoice, " garage door repair". ***** -a new guy came out and he looked at our garage door and he said nothing was wrong with the garage door but we needed a new motor. He tried to sell us a new motor for $1695. -garage motor cost $1600 and he would install it for $95 -every guy that came out had a different perspective on what needed to be done and they wanted to charge so much money! -our neighbor was outside and we asked him how much did it cost to fix his garage door and he shared that it was half the price that we paid. From this discovery, we decided to call multiple local garage door businesses and receive a quote on the cost of fixing a door and or the garage motor. -we got two additional quotes from other companies that quoted the price 50% to 75% different. -we reminded "garage door repair" that the first person who came out said they guarantee the work for six months, but the garage door broke three days later, we already paid $1345.50 to have this fixed and he was telling us that it was a different problem. -we said that it was not fair to pay more money to fix a different problem, that was not diagnosed from the beginning. So "garage door repair" guy called his boss to negotiate and then offered- "we could go to Home Depot and buy a garage motor for $400 and he would put it in for $600". -remember, previously he said he would install the other garage motor for only $95 and now he would do the same work but charge $600 ******* -Again we asked for the third time what is the name of his company and he did not want to tell us, we asked again for a fourth time, and finally he told us the name of the company was " Bens garage door repair" in Vanuys. -immediately we looked up the name of this company on the Internet, and on yelp, you could clearly see that they have multiple "front facing"businesses with the same name in different locations, and all of the reviews were from customers saying that they had been SCAMMED by this company. -I also wanted to point out that BOTH guys that came out were wearing a shirt from a different company, another person who made a review below posted a picture about this. I noticed this as well.***** -once we realized that we were scammed we confronted the " garage door repair" guy and he said nothing and left. From our extensive research, we are 100% positive that this is a scam company. They use a different name for the front of their business and hold their contractors license, location, and finances in other companies. This is not legal or lawful. They have many testimonies from others being scammed. read more

I needed to purchase a garage door spring. I contacted this vendor and they sold me a replacement spring. Before I left the parking lot, I looked online and discovered the spring they sold me would not work AND that I was charged almost DOUBLE the price. I immediately went back in to the store and informed the sales lady that I needed to return the spring. She refused to refund my credit card. I told her that I had just made the purchase, that I hadn't even left the parking lot. She pointed to a sign "All sales are Final". I pleaded with her to allow me to return the spring as I had could not use it. Again she said all sales are final. I called my Credit Card Company on the spot to initiate a dispute. They couldn't initiate the dispute right away as the charge was still pending. My dispute is now active. I am hoping my Credit Card Company will be able to assist me. I can understand an All Sales are Final to prevent frivolous returns. I had a legitimate reason to return the springs and I attempted to return the items in good faith within minutes of the sale. This rubs me the wrong way as they misled me by selling me a spring that could not work as a replacement spring and at almost double the market price ! Our gate stopped working, called them on a Sunday and they sent someone out. Awesome, right? Not so much. They promised a free estimate. When the tech, David, got here, we asked about price, he said he couldn't say until he saw what the problem was. All good. He opened the control box, did an "inspection", told us there was no power to the box (duh, we knew that), did nothing else and said "$250 please". Wait, where was the estimate that I could either say yes or no? He then got into a fight with my husband, did not seem to know which line actually provided the power to the box (my husband tried to tell him but he wouldn't stop insisting and wouldn't let my husband speak). My husband left in disgust. By this time I was so frazzled I just paid the guy. It wasn't until later that I realized we never got that "free" estimate where I could say yes proceed or no, leave it. I got more and more upset. But here is the redeeming part of the story, why it got 3 stars instead of 1. I called the office in the morning and asked for a supervisor. Talia came on the line, listened to my story, and said she would call me back. She called back and told me she spoke to her boss and the tech and said she felt very badly about the misunderstanding and offered a $125 refund. I accepted. I do not expect anyone to work for free, he did come out on a Sunday, and he did open the box so I guess that qualifies as "work". I just wish he would have not been such a jerk to my husband, and that he would have provided some kind of actual cost of the "inspection" before he did it. That is what a free estimate is, so that the client can say yes or no. Talia was awesome. I really appreciated her attitude and willingness to hear me and listen to how I felt. That is how a business should be run. I would say 5 stars for her, zero to 1 star for David. I would use them again, but will not accept David as the tech. read more

Our garage door had a wheel drop off late Thursday night (yes, on Thanksgiving) on our rental property. We called Ben's Garage Door Repair Friday morning. They could not have been more helpful and professional. They had a team at our house by noon on Friday. I called Bens because we had a gate opener that was not working. The fellow that came out also known as Ben was very courteous and did hisbest to try to figure out what was wrong. He told me he would return in a few days with the part he thought would make it work. I had to call to find out exactly when they were coming back. They came back and left and never said another word. I called three times each time I was told we will return your call soon. Then my phone calls weren't answered. If they were unable to fix this problem I wish they had just told me. I wasted a lot of time trying to get ahold of them. My heavy wood one-piece garage door needed balancing and a new opener. I explained this to the woman on the phone who scheduled a tech to come out and give me a free estimate. When Simon arrived, he was extremely ill prepared to deal with my door (didn't even come with a jack stand to hold the heavy door open to work on). He didn't have ANY knowledge about how to balance the side hinge hardware and tried to BS me about needing new springs before even going through normal balancing adjustments on newly installed hardware. I kindly asked him to not waste any more of both of our time, but he lingered for another 45 minutes trying to "sell" me on doing some work (which I made it clear I had no confidence in him doing). When I finally got him to leave, he asked if I knew about the $19.95 service charge! I told him it was supposed to be a free estimate and he said ok and left. COMPLETE WASTE OF TIME! When I tried to call the office after he left, no one would pick up and I was disconnected on 3 attempts (very strange).
