Called and spoke to Dave the owner on the phone. He said his lead tech Jacob would be in our area within the hour which blew my mind. I had just started to resign myself to the idea of our door remaining open overnight when I made one more phone call to Garage Door Basics--and am I glad I did! I want to echo all of the positive feedback about Dave. The motor pulled away from the door leaving a whole. Another company put on the wrong springs causing the door to be too heavy for the motor. Dave told me the correct springs and that he could fix the whole in the door. The original company changed the springs but could not fix the whole. Procrastination can lead to unnecessary frustration. I reached out to Garage Door Basics a few months ago to service my 15-year-old garage door. The poor thing was moaning and groaning, popping and cracking more than I do when getting out of bed in the morning. Dave arrived at the appointed time, replaced the spring, lubricated all the joints and rollers and suggested a DIY maintenance plan going forward. By the time Dave left, the door sounded brand new. Fast forward a few months and I started having problems getting the door to close properly. It would start to close, stop, and then pop back open. It would sometimes take 2 or three tries to get the door to close. I searched the interwebs for the likely cause and steps to resolve the problem. Everything I found pointed to the door sensors being out of alignment or in need of repair or replacement. I tried cleaning the sensors as recommended, but that didn't help. And, if I'd followed the instructions on how to adjust the sensors, I fear that I would have only made matters worse. The longer I procrastinated, the longer it took to get the door to close. As of yesterday, it took 8 to ten tries before the door would close. Realizing the problem was not going to resolve itself, I finally gave in and reached out to Dave at Garage Door Basics this morning for help. We talked about the issue and I briefly described the current behavior. While on the phone, Dave had me try a couple things but none of them worked.
