I just had Elite back out to service/tune up my AC unit for annual maintenance (though admittedly I…read morehaven't had it done since they installed my unit in July 2022, so it was overdue). Other companies were a bit cheaper with coupons, but Elite had a $99 special and I wanted to go with them, since they installed the unit. The first time the technician (Steve) came out, he wasn't able to do anything due to my building's roof drain being clogged and the roof was basically flooded. He sent me a video so I was able to send it to our maintenance people and have them come fix that issue. After the roof was no longer a swimming pool, Steve came back out a week later and presumably did everything that was needed -- all seems to be working well, and he answered a couple of my questions and gave me an estimate for an ambient kit in case I want to run the unit when it's below 60 degrees outside (my condo gets really hot and retains heat). Overall, great customer service, super nice people. I'll continue to use them for my AC needs.

As a female consumer, about 80% of contractors are not as trustworthy and do not have your best interest in mind. So when I find a service provider who does a phenomenal job, I have to share it with others! I worked with Elite for the first time and their technician Cecil fits that description. He was kind, easy to talk to, smart, and most of all trustworthy. He problem-solved what was ailing my unit. Even having to pause the visit due to a storm passing through our area. He came back and found the issue and fixed it! I will definitely use Elite again and request Cecil to be our technician. I even joined their annual maintenance program as a result. For $20 a month that is worth working with people you can rely on. Thanks Cecil and thanks Elite!

They told me that other pipes needed to be replaced being one option or that I needed an entire new water heater. The next week person came from Abt to give me an estimate for something else and took a look at it. They told me that the pipe that was leaking didn't even need to be been removed when the water heater was installed. All that needed to be done was that it removed. I called Gardner and told them that they needed to reverse the charges for the diagnostic because they lied. Another HVAC company came and removed the pipe for 1/10 of the cost that it taken me to follow through on their diagnostic. They did reverse me the charge of the diagnostic of $220. Liars.

Darren Gartner is still terrific, this time with our heating system. We called because of a loud…read more"windy" sound that occasionally followed when the thermostat signaled a startup for the heat. Darren stopped by late the very same afternoon I called, researched the issue, and found that it was happening since we had programmed a high-output feature to maximize the heat delivered on startup, which lasts for several minutes until some "warm-up" occurs, then reverts to standard (and very quiet) maintenance airflow. His "rapid response" to our concern was very much appreciated, further evidence of the high quality of Gartner HVAC service!

I will copy the review I wrote about ABC, which lead me to hiring Hero Air in the first place to give you the full picture: Update: ABC did show up at 8pm the following night and proceeded to quote me $1,363 to replace some components and $475 to deep clean the condenser coil. I was paying for their VIP service and that is the quote I got. I said no way since I trust them zero. Got Hero Air, who get amazing reviews on Yelp to come out and were there within 2 hours. Turns out I needed a new thermostat, which all in for diagnosing, running out to get the thermostat, and installing for $407. He also recommended a deep cleaning and charged me $150, so for $557 instead of $1,833 which wouldn't have even fixed the problem I am up and running 4 hours after requesting an appointment. So when I said above they hope idiots will let them get away with charging triple, I was not exaggerating. ABC deserves to go out of business. It seems like with their AI reservation system and "fluid" scheduling they probably go bought out by private equity and it seems like they are running themselves into the ground. DO NOT USE THEM FOR ANYTHING!

So far two fantastic experiences. First one they spent a couple hours trying to diagnose my…read morefurnace acting up. Turns out it was my air filter being too restrictive. Tried to tune the furnace anyway to accommodate it, which was actually kind of fun to watch all the different ways it could be done. No other HVAC technician I've ever worked with before has done that. A/C maintenance went great too. First company I've ever hired that didn't try to sell me an entirely new unit just due to a faulty capacitor. Even gave me the model number of the capacitor to replace if I want to save money and do it myself (I'm reasonably handy so it's something I'd probably do). I'll be using them for as long as they give great service!

They said they could try to do a repair for about $1.3k but that they couldn't guarantee the repair would be effective because of the condenser. They then tried to sell me on their highest end heat-pump for about $24k, which was too much for our needs, since our furnace was also functional. We ended up choosing a basic AC replacement for around $9k. They were able to install the new unit two days later. However, on the day of the install, they saw some surface level rust on the furnace heat exchanger and tried to get me to replace it for an additional $4k. When I said no, they backed off and recommended a CO alarm (which we already have). It felt like I was being heavily taken advantage of because I was in a dire situation. The installation went fine, but my experience of being pressured and hard sold to during the process made it feel like I was being milked for every penny they could get out of me. Take this as a precaution to check your HVAC AC/furnace/heat pump regularly, and get multiple quotes before deciding on work. If you go with this company, they will seemingly do an effective job, but they will try their best to get as much money out of you as possible.
