At first when they did the accounting it was great. Then the Owner Josh got too busy and handed everything over to his assistant, Jenn who is not a CPA and made many mistakes. One mistake where she paid our payroll taxes twice, and when I mentioned she became defensive. Made me feel like I shouldn't have asked, It took 4 months to receive the overpayment. Later I received a phone call from Josh stating he was too busy to handle my account and he was dealing with bigger & larger accounts at the present. Rather than dealing with his assistant and her ineptitude with Taxes, he decided let me go. But this was a BLESSING IN DISGUISE because I now found an accountant who cares, who returns my calls, files my taxes on time, and doesn't pass everything off to his assistant who is not a CPA. IN RESPONSE TO JENN's REPLY: I beg to differ, it took you 4 months to refund the overpayment and the transition to the new accountant was lousy. No payroll info I had to do the research. You are not an accountant and you should not be doing taxes period. read more

Really pissed! Did weeks of work. I expressed multiple times I was concerned about messing up my previous system. Then after being told multiple times to continue what I'm doing I received a random email that they were no longer able to take me on as a client. That's fine, just please don't eat all my time,beating into my profits just to leave me at ground zero with zero references or clues where to go after that. I do not recommend. Josh said he would open our S-corp without issues, it took more then 6 months, it kept getting rejected till one day I had enough and called with him on the line and the government agency asked for a document that josh had never sent. He said to the lady I have never had to send that, to which she replied I have never approved an application without it. That should have been our first red flag but it was a Referal from a good friend so we continued. Josh schedule more then 3 business calls to go over our company's documents and never called nor answered text. No notice and days to weeks later had excuses after excuses. He kept pushing the time frame to complete our 2021 taxes from august 2022, to September then November then December and January to finally finish it in February. At the start of January 2023 he send a revised hourly rate and tried billing us at the new rate to finish the 2021 year even though he took it at the old rate. He did rectify the invoice once we refused to pay it. His assistant Jen is one of the rudest person I've ever dealt with, she is a liar who couldn't answer one question and kept saying I'll have to ask Josh about that. Like what's the point of taking a meeting if you are uneducated about the subject. I have had the 2021 year looked by an other firm and we could of saved much more money. He is sloppy, not attentive, not professional, let's you hanging and made us feel every-time we asked something like we were the most annoying bothersome people in the world. My mother is a CPA in Canada and let me just say her and our new CPA were flabbergasted by his unprofessionalism and communications. DO NOT ENTRUST THIS COMPANY WOTH YOUR TAXES AND BOOKKEEPING !!! read more

Warning bad business!!!!! Wish I had saw these reviews before I met this clown. He never did anything I asked for and now my taxes are backed up 2 years and my LLC is not up to date. this guy is a less than amateur he is border line a scammer based off these other reviews. He gets you with good talk but no follow up and when you ask the status on stuff he keeps you on the line saying he's getting to it after he finishes the thing you didn't ask him to do. read more

We were excited to work with Josh and the Media City team to prepare our tax returns this year after reading these great reviews. However, we scheduled two separate meetings with them - and we were stood up for both. The first, no communication until I sent an email reminder and then they offered to reschedule. The second, absolutely no acknowledgement of the missed meeting nor follow-up communication. I had to move client meetings around at work to accommodate these planned meetings and feel its disrespectful of others' time to completely miss not one, but two meetings. read more

We got referred to Josh by a friend. Communication started off promising but then it completely disappeared. We wanted help setting up an LLC and for Josh to also do our personal taxes. We never got our LLC done and when it came to taxes, we kept getting an auto email response to contact Jenn. I emailed and called Jenn with zero response until literally two days before Tax Day when I left a pretty desperate voicemail asking if they were going to do our taxes after Josh stated in an email that he would do it. She finally called back and said she'd take care of it that day and would file an extension. She sounded stressed and annoyed but it was tax week and I could totally understand how that time can be stressful for any accountant. After she confirmed that my taxes were filed, I paid what I owed immediately (the entire process was unpleasant- I was hoping for advice and information regarding business expenses, tax withholding, etc. but instead was made to feel like I should have known all this stuff already). I emailed Jenn one last time with a follow up email AND another voicemail to make sure everything was completely set. Zero response. Just recently I received IRS and State of CA tax board notices stating that I accrued late fees due to late payment of my tax fees. Basically, the extension was never filed and my taxes were filed late which ultimately made my payments late. I don't write reviews often but when I do it's because I really love something or I am extremely upset at a service and this experience is extremely unacceptable. Do not use them. read more
