Edit 05JUL2025 approx 1 pm I walked into the new location and turned around and walked out. The line up to pay was insane only open person working but yet there was two terminals. I would estimate there were 3-4 dozen people in line the entire length of the store and then snaking along the back wall. Then the GF cafe seating area reassembled a Costco food court, not a seat to be found. The line to the GF Cafe/Deli counter also had about 2 dozen people waiting. Totally blocking the isle of GF products on the shelves. read more

They have moved. The new address is 10516 184 str. The old place was nothing like the new location. First impression.. unlike the old location,there's plenty of parking .. and the neighboring businesses are closed on Saturdays so there's even more available. Second impression.. when you walk in , unlike the old place , it doesn't have that butcher smell .. though I love that smell. It's a lot roomier and everything is spaced out to walk by . They have a good variety in the freezers and even some BBQs for sale . The butcher counter has a lot to offer and everything on display looked great . They even have a dry aging cabinet so you can see the aging process. They also have a coffee bar and a few tables to enjoy some coffee and a snack . Everything was reasonably priced . And the store looks so much better . It's a new look but the products and service remains the same . read more

We come here often because they have a great selection of gluten free fresh, frozen, and boxed foods and treats. The have some great gluten free frozen items. I especially recommend the pizzas and chicken fingers, which we buy often. They have a small butcher section with fresh meat, a kitchen for fresh hot fast food, cooler and freezers sections plus a few aisles of package food and treats. They even have some bones for your pooch. The store is small and tight but they use the space well and have great selection. If you are Celiac you should check this place out! Gluten free spring rolls, chicken strips, nuggets... fries! Done in an air fryer that is super HOT! Special gluten-free mini Donut Saturdays! Bucket please! Cheese? Why yes please! Something for the four-legged family member? Dog bones? Pigs ears? You bet. They carry pre-blended ground beef/pork for cabbage rolls or whatever you make! Sliders, burgers, delicious! Deli meats, steaks, cured meats... all in the deli counter with fabulous personal service. The aisles are packed with Dutch goodies, stroopwaffel? Several kinds including glutenfree! Bulk candies? Wow! I just found one of my most favourite places in Edmonton. As soon as I walked in, I felt I was in Amsterdam! It brought back all the good memories. I checked the aisles and there were so many awesome products that you can't find in a normal grocery store and they are popular in Europe! Dangerously delicious and perhaps poisonous for calorie counters! But here I am, back with a bunch of those things, enjoying every bite and say f@&$ the diet!!! Lol The best butcher in the city that I know and they are very kind and helpful. The guy who was helping us took his time to explain some stuff and did a bunch of extra things to make our experience amazing. Small stores, lovingly run to share a particular culinary point of view, are my way to happiness. I collect them, like trading cards, often filling in my gap time with visits in order to get inspiration for my next cookery. Ben's had me from the Stroopwafels, which I loved fresh in Amsterdam, and kept me with all the Dutch items, including more foodstuffs and even fan team scarves and shirts. (I grew up in Soestdijk and Ben's brings back memories of both the foods and the way of shopping that's so different than the once-weekly big box shopping that's typical today.) The deli counter is a big win, from traditional Italian salumi to smoked horse (tasty, salty!) to gouda to sub sandwiches (which, yes, at one time I called "grinders" and "hoagies"). Popped into Ben's the other day to kill some time while we were getting a Thule Roof cargo carrier installed just down the block at Racks For Cars. First of all, why on earth did I not visit here before?!? I used to work just down the block from here 1 day a week. Even back then, office peeps would frequently go to Ben's for a quick sandwich to-go! The small store is filled with all kinds of Dutch goodies and treats ranging from wooden shoes to the largest bulk display of black licorice I've ever seen (try salty)! If you are looking for gluten free food look no further. They have freezers full of frozen baked goods (many that are dairy free as well) gluten free meats, pasta and more. They also have sauces, cheeses, and fresh gluten free food at the front. Some of my favourites are their gf spring rolls, chicken strips and fries, wontons - all made separately to avoid cross contamination. I wish I was thinking when we visited, a wonderful butcher shop. The store is very diverse, it is a Dutch Canadian butcher shop that carries many different things. There are frozen products, fresh products, canned goods and an amazing selection of licorice if that's your thing. The fresh meat counters have outstanding quality meats and sausages...not to mention the staff are absolutely amazing people. .Lovely little shop where you can get all sorts of European treats, meats and sausage! They recently celebrated their 65th anniversary and it's no surprise they have so much staying power. We asked how the various gingerbread products compared and we were treated to samples of practically all their stock (and bought a whole bunch home lol). Imported items include various types of gouda, sauces and several aisles devoted to gluten free products. They make and smoke some of their sausages and the rest is locally made. They even have little packages of herring (same ones you can get at heritage days served with raw onion!). Knowledgeable and friendly, we left with a bunch of sausages, frozen krokets, some meat pastries, lots of gingerbread and smiles on our faces. This is our go to butcher shop. They have excellent customer service. We recently ordered a fresh turkey. That was the best turkey we have ever had, I don't think we can will ever purchase a frozen one again. The quality of their products out shines the normal grocery store selections. There is also a wonderful selection of cheese too that is a must see. And don't forget to get a bone or a pigs ear for the dog while you are there! read more

Fresh meats and Dutch treats. I like going for the treats more than the meats. Choosing which meat is not my department. However, they have delicious meats. I very much enjoy their ground beef and pork mix. Super lean without it being dry. It has become a staple in our household. The new york steaks are great too! They have a wide variety of meats, some are marinated for you. The staff is always friendly and helpful. Especially if you are a first timer at a butcher shop and not sure where to start. The parking lot is a little difficult, but we park across the street and there is a pedestrian controlled red light crossing 20 steps away. Definitely worth it! read more

Impressive! This place reminds me of K&K Foodliner, but a little smaller and a little less chaotic. I walked in to the smells of curing meats and to see three meatcutters and a cashier doting on customers. The fresh counters were full of fresh and cryovac meats as well as value added cuts. The aisles were full of predominately Dutch and other European items, everything from candy to dinnerware. It was fun to look at. This is yet another store I should frequent more often, as it looks like their prices are decent as well, especially for custom cut and specialty meat. Too bad about the parking. Only been here twice. I really like it. I usually only get the garlic ham sausage because I ... well ... really like it! Lean and flavorful. However if you want other things. They have it. Wonderful family run business with always friendly and knowledgeable staff! This is the place to go if you want authentic Dutch treats (I'm not Dutch BTW, but I love many of their offerings) and in-house prepared meat products and great quality fresh meats. The butcher will take time to answer your questions about what cuts to use and how to prepare them for your new recipe and treat you like a valued customer regardless of how busy he is. Amazing first experience here. I stopped in on my way home as I could see a few people eating at the picnic tables outside.... I'm so glad I did. This spontaneous stop brought me to an amazing discovery. I was browsing the fresh meat section and checking out the deli when I overheard the owner Dave serving a couple gents in front of me. When I heard him say " I just pulled a brisket out of the smoker... Do you want that?" To them I knew I had to have some. Looking for some fabulous steaks, great chicken,marinated pork or beef jerky? This is the spot. One of the best meat markets that I have seen in either Edmonton or Calgary. When Gordon Ramsay was in town last year this was where he sourced his venison. There are all kinds of Dutch treats throughout the store. It is a third generation family run store and they care about their clients and their product. Worth the visit! P.s. Great selection. Asked for low/no sodium meats, and we were taken care of for a full 20 minutes by the owner, who didn't rush us. He showed us which deli meats to look at, and he vacuumed packed a few different days worth( individually ) so they"ll keep for a while. Talk about going above and beyond! We also bought sausages, ground beef, raw turkey breast, and smoked bones for the dog. At the end, he thanked us for our business. All staff was smiling and friendly. It's nice, as a customer, to feel appreciated. We'll definitely be doing the 45 minute drive (one way) to shop there again. read more

Ben's, you made this California girls day by having a tri-tip cut ready to be wrapped up upon my arrival. Two years in Edmonton and I haven't been able to select a cut outside the Canadian norm until I stopped in. The shop offers a wide variety of Dutch goods which was unique to the West End. The ventilation seemed a tad lacking as the smell was overwhelming from smoked meat, hoping this improves when they can open the door in the summer. All in all we were stoked with the quality of the meat and fun pop/candy options. read more

Yum, this store brought many childhood memories back. I finally made a visit and now am wondering why it took me so long. You can find any import food items, the amount of Dutch imports is amazing. I was able to add more pieces to my Blue Delft dish collection. Very friendly service at the deli and till. Will definitely be returning again. We visited Ben's for the first time the other day. The Montreal smoked meat and smoked turkey were delicious, and on the way out we saw a sign for an upcoming special on New York steaks. We came back in to place an order, and were highly surprised and delighted when we were told that we could actually have the steaks right then. We cooked the steaks tonight, and were easily some of the best cut we have ever had. Thanks a lot to Ben's, and we will be back very soon. read more

This place has been here for so long, and for good reason. They have recently expanded to offer a huge variety of Dutch import items as well as a large fresh deli counter. Great prices on import stuff! i haven't gotten too much deli product, I mostly go here for my husband as he has dutch food 'needs'. what I have purchased though was all fabulous. Well, I wish I had known about this gem a while ago. There's so much in here, and I would recommend it just for browsing around for Dutch treats alone. I get Raw Dog Food (which iI actually feed my cats) from here, which is cheaper than buying the expensive vet diet I used to buy, and way healthier. read more
