Get their popcorn chicken! First got introduced to Bento 886 when someone got their tray of popcorn chicken for a holiday pot luck. I was obsessed with their popcorn chicken then and there. I found myself going back to their store myself to get a popcorn chicken bento box that came with rice and some sides. I think the complimentary sides of cabbage are okay, not the highlight of the bento box at all. But the popcorn chicken is the real star here and would get this for parties and a quick meal again. Overall, a great Taiwanese lunch spot for a quick bite, take out or party trays!

If you are missing Taiwan and its food, then I have good news for you. 886bento in Unionville is serving comfort food that sends you back to Taiwan. They have bentos, snacks and even drinks. Their bento is massive - lots of rice with a great amount of protein and veggie portion. I like the chicken cutlet and the signature bento! The chicken cutlet has a huge cut of chicken - reminds me of the night markets in Taiwan. Their snacks are also worth trying. They are very flavorful! I tried for the first time - deep -fried pork blood and it was not bad. They also sell Taiwanese snacks there! If you are in the area, pay them a visit! The place can be busy on weekend lunch and dinner. Staff's attitude was ok.

Food: 4 stars Service: 4 stars Eco-friendliness: 1 star Fast, good selection, good value. Passed by and decided to give it a try. Nothing fancy and served in take-out containers - which in a world of ever-mounting waste, I'd like to see less of when eating-in. We tried the popcorn chicken rice and 3-cup chicken rice and both were as expected. Good-for-the-value lunch. They also have Taiwanese soda options.

This small dine-in and take-out spot has a fantastic range of casual Taiwanese bento boxes, drinks and snacks. I got take-out with 4 other friends last weekend, and the food was really really good! Definitely want to return and try more! The popcorn chicken, fried mochi balls (taro and sweet potato) and deep fried fish cake, and Lu Rou rice were all terrific. Only downside is the plastic cups for take-out drinks -- the plastic is really thin, and when the drink fell sideways on the car ride home, the cup BROKE apart and spilled everywhere! It wasn't that the lid wasn't sealed -- the cup literally split down the side. So I hope they source better cups. That one blip aside, the food was really authentic and delicious. Will definitely be back!

Great little spot in Markham for Taiwanese-style bentos and quick comfort food. I had the pork chop bento--crispy, well-seasoned, and came with a good mix of sides. Everything tasted fresh and satisfying. I also grabbed a winter melon tea, which was light, refreshing, and not too sweet--perfect pairing with the meal. Service was quick, the space is clean, and prices are fair. Solid option for a casual lunch or easy takeout.

Great place tucked inside a plaza. There's parking out front and on the east side. The store itself is done food court style but staff are super friendly and quick. The seating is clean and spacious. We got 3 lunch sets and some apps. It was a lot of food for our family of 4. We had to pack some home. They were also nice enough to suggest adding a dollar to make them a combo because I asked for the winter melon tea. Would come back again for sure.

Bento 886 is a little Taiwanese bento place with tasty food choices. It tucks in a small plaza across Hwy-7 from Papa John's next to the Volvo dealership. It's a food court/ self service style eatery in a store. Good for take-outs but you can dine-in. They have a number of tables and seats. Good selections of appetizer. The bento bowl has a good portion. Cashier is nice. Easy meal. I like it. Recommended.

Small food court style take out resto located on Hwy 7 near Kennedy Rd. While it's mainly meant to be a take out restaurant, there are tables inside should folks want to eat their bentos on the spot. They have a good variety of different bentos and all at a reasonable price. We ordered 2 bentos and an appetizer all for under $40. The quantity of the bentos were also great for the cost. Staff were efficient and friendly, so we look forward to coming back know there is a cheap, good take out option in the area.

Taiwanese spot in markham. It's got a great menu selection of favourite Taiwanese street food snacks and staple meal deals. From sausages to pork belly to Taiwanese sausages they have a good selection. And their drinks are from Taiwan most popular brands or you can have their winter melon tea. Go check them out

Bento box 886 provides a fast and affordable option if you love simple and delicious food. So many different choices. Not easy to pick one! Service here is fast and friendly! Highly recommended. Parking can be an issue as the lot is small and busy.

Decide to stop by for a quick snack after learning about this newly opened Bento 886 on social media. The shop seems to be a takeout spot with food items readily available. We ordered a few snacks to share, and it all came in a paper bag with some skewer sticks for utensils. The service was very good; the lady serving us could speak English, Mandarin and Cantonese. All the items had the same Taiwanese signature flavouring; it was on the saltier side. The wintermelon tea drink, on the other hand, was sweet, so it balanced the saltiness out. I would recommend the Thousand-Layer Tofu and the Turnip Cake. The Popcorn Chicken looked pretty good, but it was a bigger portion, and we didn't want to get stuffed before dinner. The staff accidently dropped off the popcorn chicken to us (and I took a picture of it anyway lol) The only item that really threw me off was the cuttlefish balls. The menu image shows 5 whole cuttlefish balls for 4.99, which sounds decent, but what we got seems to be 1-2 cuttlefish balls cut onto 3s for 4.99, which I didn't think was worth it. I would want to come back again to try the bento meals and the popcorn chicken for next time!

Amazing and cheap bentos! Ive tried the minced pork belly, braised pork belly, popcorn chicken bento and three cup chicken bentos. All are delicious and so filling! I would say this is more of a to go spot as theres only a few tables with seats but theres also a standing high top. The worker is so quick and nice. My favourite from here is their popcorn chicken and wintermelon tea. Definitely a spot for taiwanese rice bentos.

I came here on a weekday, there was no line, hardly anyone on the second floor. I looked at their menu (lots of options) and finally got the attention of the worker inside and pointed to the picture of what I wanted. There was a bit of back and forth with the worker, she kept waving me to look at the menu to tell her what I wanted, but I was clearly pointing to the photo of what I wanted. Service was a bit rude, she wasn't very friendly, nor did she try to understand what I wanted. I didn't think language barrier would be an issue if I was clearly pointing to the photo of what I wanted in my sticky rice. I will say that the sticky rice was very delicious and well balanced. It was VERY greasing on the exterior of their packaging which was saran wrap. The food made it a better rating, but I can't shake off the rude customer service. Questionable if I will be back though.

Apparently this is a very famous restaurant in Taiwan so it's great that we can try it here in Toronto! My Taiwanese friend did the ordering as she was familiar with the popular dishes to try. She ordered two lunch specials. One lunch set was a little pricier for about $25 but if you pay cash there is 10% off on this item. This lunch set was really worth it as this combo included 6 side dishes, a main dish with a soup or milk tea...and for the main dish, you could choose Danmi noodles or Minced pork rice and we picked the noodles since we got the Pork Hock & Minced pork rice for our 2nd lunch set. The two of us shared all the items except my friend insisted that I have the marinated abalone side dish and this was so good! I will definitely be coming back because of this dish! I also liked the Danmi noodles and Pork Hock. Although the food was amazing but the service was lacking. It wasn't busy when we got there just before noon on a Wednesday and we had to wave the staff for help several times and the staff didn't even take our order correctly as we had asked for two tea and they only brought one. I will still be back as the food was really good and I love Taiwanese food!

The decor is full of colourful lanterns and simple furniture. However, the metal chairs are not comfy at all. That could be changed. The service was quick for lunch. I also had to ask for the black vinegar to go with it which it should have been given. The spicy sauce was already at the table. The pickled cabbage was a nice crunchy side. The winter melon tea was nice, but not enough tapioca since I paid extra for that. The popcorn chicken was amazing. They nailed that one and also, the deep fried tofu. It reminded me of my trips to Taiwan. The boiled veggies were a nice touch to the meal. To end it off, we shared a hot tofu dessert dish. Overall, it was a great experience. There could be some changes to the restaurant, but I know their focus is on two main traditional Taiwanese dishes.
