On a weekday night, we were craving Taiwanese cuisine and finally decided to try this spot that our friends raved about. We ordered the pork chop on rice that came with tofu, egg, and veggies. At first glance, the pork chop was a bit on the thinner side. However, after taking a bite, we found it was juicy and the flavour was on point! The tofu, egg, and veggies on top made it a extra satisfying meal. Will definitely be visiting again soon for more pork chops!

It always has a long line and busiest spot in the whole food court, but the service is efficient. ** The combo no longer offer drink or soup Pork Chop (#1) - flavourful, soft and tender. Beef Noodle (#7) - the noodle is bouncy, but the braised beef is very chewy and hard like a rubber. Food in general is spicy, so if you cannot handle the spiciness, you should reconsider to try this place.

Small takeout joint w lots of parking outside. Plexiglass and floor markers to help people social distance, and it also helps that food is cooked fairly quickly. The pork cutlet w rice was good, but I was more impressed w the Taiwan Beef Braised Noodle Soup - the soup, noodles and braised beef tasted fantastic! Warning if you get takeout, the soup is super hot!

This is my favourite restaurant to eat at the Metro Square. It is the first booth at the food court by the window. They are well known for their Taiwan style deep fried pork chop (#1 item on the menu, $7.25). Over the years however, I find that their portions gradually becomes smaller and smaller, and now they no longer come with complementary soup and soy bean milk with the dish. The pork chops still taste amazing though, so I would recommend just buy them for take home and skip the combos

Their specialty can never get bored of the Chicken with rice. Tried the beef brisket for the first time. Its huge portion and has sauce all over the rice with broccoli. Shrimp fried rice was bland just like a regular fried rice.

Located inside the Food Court of Metro Square, this Taiwanese fast food place is popular amongst the locals. Food Court seating is available to customers only. We selected the # 1 (pork chop on steam rice or noodle) and a # 6 (chicken fillet with rice or noodle) meal, plus we add a side order of Tofu in chilli sauce $1.50 and two soups at $0.55 each. Both the pork chop and the chicken fillet were juicy and delicious. The rice was not fluffy but hard, the soup just average and the tofu was over-fried. Service and order fulfillment was quick. So, overall this place will get another visit soon.

Chin Yuan Pai Ku is a well-known Taiwanese food court kiosk in the Metro Square mall at the border Markham and Scarborough.  It's a popular place known for its Taiwanese pork chops and beef noodle soup as they tend to have the longest lines especially during the lunch and dinner rush. It's been a while since I've been here and decided to check them out as I was in the area.  I ordered their very popular #7 Taiwanese Braised Beef Noodle Soup for a very reasonable $7.25 plus tax. The broth is excellent and flavorful and the noodles were cooked perfectly chewy.  Unfortunately the beef itself was a bit too hard and gristly for me. Not sure if it was an off day but I remember it being much more tender in the past.  Either that or I may need dentures sooner then I thought:) I'll give them a 3 outta of 5 for now and come back another time to try the other items on the menu.

total value for the 7.25 you are paying. i don't know if there's any other authentic taiwanese food place that has this low of a price. there's more beef in the beef noodle soup than the menu picture. the beef itself is very large in portion for me i could barely eat the noodle... definitely the most popular stall in the entire food court. i think the meal used to come with soy milk or soup. but now the soy milk and soup are at extra price.

I am in love with this little food court establishment at Metro Square. They give a ton of al dente noodles with rich beefy broth and a ton of meat. What's not to like?! I love this place so much that when I finished my 6-week no carb diet, this was one of the first places I visited because I missed their noodles so much. The icing on the cake is that it's only $8 for a giant bowl of hearty goodness. I love their braised beef noodles so much that I'm apprehensive to try more dishes from this place. I heard their pork chops are really yummy but if I order their pork chops, i won't get the same noodles that come with the braised beef noodles. Yes, these are the kinds of dilemmas I face everytime I come here. Be sure to ask for some chili oil from them if you like your food with a kick of heat. The chili oil adds a nice oomph.

"Pai Ku" = Pork Chop So of course I need to order their "famous" Taiwanese Pai Ku with noodle ($6.25) that includes a soup or a soy bean drink. The Pork Chop itself is moist and tender. The batter reminds me of the 5 spice seasonings which is quite savory and it goes well with the preserved chili that serves with the meat, if you order spicy! However, I don't really enjoy the noodles, a little to soggy and oily and lack of real flavour. Next time, I think I will go with rice instead. Maybe I have to come back for their after 3 pm specials, Pig Intestine Please!

Porkchop bento box with 2 sides, 1 soy egg and white rice.

It pains me to give this place a 1 star. But I have to based on how it tastes now! This is an old staple from my childhood, being inside the Metro Square food court since it's inception I think. So could you imagine, after years of the shop being an old faithful - and having the OG title of one of the earliest Taiwanese bento places - that I submit 1 star? The main gripe I have with it was that the pork chop is now mostly GOOP. There's very little meat to the pork chop. It's NOT edible. The value is terrible and makes the meal experience so disappointing! The side dishes are mediocre and there's no choice of what you get. They also used to offer complimentary soy milk or soup. Their red chili garnish will sizzle your tongue, if you're into that. Save yourself the disappointment and head on over to the bento shop outside of the plaza.

I haven't eaten in this food court since I worked in the area around 20 years ago but I found myself in the neighbourhood and it was lunch time. Not every vendor was open but I ended up choosing a pork dish with rice. I had barely put my change in my pocket when my order was ready. That was fast. Wait a second. This looked nothing like the nicely braised pork belly in the picture on their menu. Did I get the right dish? I didn't bother questioning it because it was cheap, I was hungry, and there was already a language barrier when I placed my order. I probably shouldn't have judged this book by its cover. It tasted a heck of a lot better than it looked! There were pieces of tender pork ribs and belly, bamboo shoots, veggies, a hard boiled egg, and steamed rice. It wasn't very pretty but it tasted good. That's what counts in the end.

I came here on a weekday, there was no line, hardly anyone on the second floor. I looked at their menu (lots of options) and finally got the attention of the worker inside and pointed to the picture of what I wanted. There was a bit of back and forth with the worker, she kept waving me to look at the menu to tell her what I wanted, but I was clearly pointing to the photo of what I wanted. Service was a bit rude, she wasn't very friendly, nor did she try to understand what I wanted. I didn't think language barrier would be an issue if I was clearly pointing to the photo of what I wanted in my sticky rice. I will say that the sticky rice was very delicious and well balanced. It was VERY greasing on the exterior of their packaging which was saran wrap. The food made it a better rating, but I can't shake off the rude customer service. Questionable if I will be back though.

Apparently this is a very famous restaurant in Taiwan so it's great that we can try it here in Toronto! My Taiwanese friend did the ordering as she was familiar with the popular dishes to try. She ordered two lunch specials. One lunch set was a little pricier for about $25 but if you pay cash there is 10% off on this item. This lunch set was really worth it as this combo included 6 side dishes, a main dish with a soup or milk tea...and for the main dish, you could choose Danmi noodles or Minced pork rice and we picked the noodles since we got the Pork Hock & Minced pork rice for our 2nd lunch set. The two of us shared all the items except my friend insisted that I have the marinated abalone side dish and this was so good! I will definitely be coming back because of this dish! I also liked the Danmi noodles and Pork Hock. Although the food was amazing but the service was lacking. It wasn't busy when we got there just before noon on a Wednesday and we had to wave the staff for help several times and the staff didn't even take our order correctly as we had asked for two tea and they only brought one. I will still be back as the food was really good and I love Taiwanese food!
