My husband wanted to stop here because they had stinky tofu! It wasn't as good as he had it before! It was fried too much, so the inside of the tofu was dry! The staff were very helpful. It was quiet because we were there off hours! We also had the beef noodle soup, this was yummy and the noodles were freshly made!

Ok wow. I didn't realize I hadn't written a review for this staple institution yet! I think they've been around since pre-2010 and it's still standing. Located at First Markham Place. As everyone's pointed out already, you walk in, you get blasted by that powerful stinky tofu smell, let it MARINATE on your nose and then in 5 min you become numb to the smell and get used to it while you're looking at the menu. A large, homemade beef noodle soup is the go-to order. I recently came back with my friends on a saturday for diner just to see if the quality had remained or gone down. Happy to report, the quality seems to have remained good! The noodles while I'm not sure whether they're made in-house anymore, certainly felt like fresh, handmade noodles as they were very chewy and had a lot of springiness to them (although I do rmbr them being much thicker in diameter). They still give you a lot of beef which is very nice. 80-90% of the beef chunks were tender. I got the occasional not-so-tender piece but for the amount of beef you're getting in each bowl that is easily forgiven. Broth is still layered and tastes complex. I can't really recall if it was better in the past since it's been SO long but it had good flavour so that's good enough for me. The dumplings remained exactly the same. Same wrappers and same filling. Seems to me like they've maintained their standards all these years! If you can tank the stinky tofu smell for the first 5 min, you will enjoy a great bowl of noodles here.

We stumbled upon this place while craving authentic Taiwanese beef braised noodle soup, and it instantly won us over. The soup is hearty, and comforting. Also, the stinky tofu is a must try classic. There's never a wait, and the staff are attentive, always greeting us with menus, a clean table, and hot tea right away.

So I walked into this Taiwanese place in First Markham Place and almost walked right back out!Literally hit in the face with a shitty smell (literally lol). Figured I would suck it up and try it out. Found out later from reading the reviews it's the smell of Stinky Tofu lol. Food (4/5) - had the Classic Beef Noodle Soup. It was a good size for the price ($14). The braised beef had good flavour, little fat and was super tender. Wish it was a bit more but that's inflation for u. Noodles were pretty good. Broth was a bit bland but fixed that with a little bit of chili sauce. Service (4.25/5) - fast yes... you walk in and the mom comes right up to u with menu. Quick to order and refill water. Soup came very quickly too. Don't expect much social banter... they are kinda business like. Atmosphere (3.5/5) - it's getting a bit dated and very basic QSR layout. I guess u get used to the smell once u sit down too. Overall (4/5) - not a bad choice for a quick meal when at the mall.

After hearing many great things about their Beef Noodle Soup over the years, I finally had the chance to visit Mei Nung Beef Noodle House! I was quite impressed with the quality and portion of the Noodle soup! The noodles are handmade which shows with the perfect al dente bite with their broth. The broth has lots of umami flavour and it pairs well with the tender beef brisket that's been braised for hours. The service was quick and efficient which was nice since I was looking for a quick meal to enjoy their legendary Beef Noodle Soup!

The food was amazing. Good portion beef noodle soup and balanced flavour. I don't eat as much now so the small portion is enough for me. The beef chunks are big and there was some bok Choy to make it a nutritious meal. Service is fast and the place is not too noisy. Overall I've enjoyed the experience for Taiwanese style food.

Mei Nung Beef Noodle House - Restaurant exterior at First Markham Place. Open for over 15 years. Certainly can smell the stinky tofu.

Best place in town for Taiwanese noodles? Mei Nung Beef Noodle House has been my go-to for years! They offer exceptional Taiwanese Beef Noodles in both soup & dry forms. It's easy to enjoy along with the side of Tofu with Preserved Eggs, or even Stinky Tofu! Beef Noodle Soup includes thick cuts of braised beef and the soup has such a deep broth flavour from hours of simmering. The owners know what their doing, having run the shop for as long as I can remember! You'll find it as soon as you park at First Markham.

The best Taiwan beef noodle soup in town. In my opinion, it's even better than Taiwan counterpart. Price is reasonable and portion is big enough to fill me. Highly recommended. The only thing, the restaurant is full of smell of stinky tofu. If you cannot bear it then it's not a place for you

Went there for lunch after 2 years absence. The Beef noodles were the same except when I asked for some fresh crushed garlic on the side, the waitress said they don't have it. She can only give me 3 cloves of garlic. I said couldn't you ask the kitchen to crush it? She said no. The stinky tofu was good, we ordered 2 plates. Food 8/10, Service 6/10. My bill: $53 for 2 bowls of noodles and 2 orders of stinky tofu. A bit high i think!

Located in First Markham place, small store front so ya gonna search for it Decided to get my stink on and ordered their stinky tofu, as normally restaurants will not have this in the menu because of the smell. More than 50% of the tables ordered this dish so it can't be that bad. Good choice, cooked fresh and the stink was not that bad when compared to the stinky tofu stalls in Mongkok, Hong Kong. Their beef noodle was stellar, flavorful broth, tender beef and chewy noodles. Jaja mein was ok but not as good as I would hope for Stinky tofu was the star of the show, bring a bottle mouthwash with you beforehand

A nice noodle place located in the middle of first markham place. I went with the minced beef noodles. It came with an egg and some choi as well. Prices were pretty reasonable at around $12 and I thought the food was pretty delicious. However, I don't think it was particularly outstanding and probably wouldn't come back. Not because the food is bad but at a location like FMP where there hundreds of restaurants available, I'd either want to try something new or go to somewhere I know I'd love.

We ordered stinky tofu, which was delicious and stinky! It was so good that we came back the next day to order another to go. We also ordered beef noodle soups. I enjoyed mine but another one of us tasted too much MSG to her liking. It was on the salty end for us. The dumplings in beef soup was also good. The dumpling skin was thick and meat was tasty. Their winter melon tea was also strong, tasty to us. We went around 8pm on a Friday, and there was no wait to be seated. I would definitely come back here!

I came here on a weekday, there was no line, hardly anyone on the second floor. I looked at their menu (lots of options) and finally got the attention of the worker inside and pointed to the picture of what I wanted. There was a bit of back and forth with the worker, she kept waving me to look at the menu to tell her what I wanted, but I was clearly pointing to the photo of what I wanted. Service was a bit rude, she wasn't very friendly, nor did she try to understand what I wanted. I didn't think language barrier would be an issue if I was clearly pointing to the photo of what I wanted in my sticky rice. I will say that the sticky rice was very delicious and well balanced. It was VERY greasing on the exterior of their packaging which was saran wrap. The food made it a better rating, but I can't shake off the rude customer service. Questionable if I will be back though.

This lunch set was really worth it as this combo included 6 side dishes, a main dish with a soup or milk tea...and for the main dish, you could choose Danmi noodles or Minced pork rice and we picked the noodles since we got the Pork Hock & Minced pork rice for our 2nd lunch set.
