Very Disappointed -- Poor Time Management and Communication My A/C stopped working July 7, and I paid Christian Brothers Automotive about $640 for the repair. Less than two months later, the A/C started acting up again. I brought the car back on August 27 at noon, by appointment. It wasn't looked at until around 5:30 PM, and no repair work was done that day. I approved a roughly $2,100 repair on Friday, August 28, and was told the goal was to have it completed by Monday, August 31. On Monday, I was told the technician was still finishing another vehicle that had run into problems Friday and would only then start on mine. The repair on my car was finally completed September 1. That left me wondering: How does Christian Brothers prioritize customer vehicles? My car had been sitting there since Thursday at noon, yet the actual repair apparently didn't begin until Monday afternoon. This experience was about more than the repair taking time. It was about scheduling, time management, prioritization, and communication. If another vehicle has an unexpected problem, I understand that. But when my vehicle has been sitting at the shop for days, I expect transparency about when someone will actually begin working on it and whether the original timeline is still realistic. I have always made a point of supporting local businesses whenever I can. Unfortunately, after this experience, Christian Brothers Automotive is a business I will no longer support or return to. My daughter thought her check engine light was on, so she brought it to Christian Brothers for a diagnostic test. So we left it there and got a call about 15 minutes later saying it was just her tire pressure light. They could've easily charged her the diagnostic fee and she wouldn't have know any better, but they didn't. Very honest, and they just earned a lifelong customer. Highly recommend! read more

I am deeply disappointed with the declining service at Christian Brothers. After a misfire issue, they quoted me nearly $500 for the replacement of 4 spark plugs and a fuel treatment, which included a $177 diagnostic fee/ Someone told my son it would be waived if I had the repair done. It was not going to be waived. When questioned if they would assure me that they would correct the problem, the service advisor admitted this was just a "starting point" and might not fix the car. A different shop correctly diagnosed the issue as bad coils in 45 minutes, which fixed the problem. Between this and a previous "fix" on my AC that required a second visit for no cooling and a new deductible, the very next day. They had found a bad valve on my first visit, but missed it as they described that the compressor internals were bad. It's clear they are missing the root cause of the problems. UPDATE SAVE YOUR TIME, SANITY, AND MONEY--AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS. I had to shorten this to fit, so here's the condensed version: I brought my 2006 Ford F-150 in for a transmission concern. Paid $135 for a diagnosis and was repeatedly told the transmission was fine--I "needed" a full rear end replacement instead. Quoted $2,200. When the part arrived, it was wrong. The correct one cost $2,800. After installation, I was then told I actually needed a new transmission ($3,800). I went to Ford instead--who replaced the transmission and informed me the rear end was incorrect. I returned, and they confirmed their mistake. Another rear end was ordered. Two weeks later, I'm told it's fixed--but their tech broke my driver-side mirror. They initially installed a replacement driver-side mirror incorrectly and it rattled while driving. They later fixed the installation, but it did not match the passenger-side chrome mirror. They couldn't order a chrome replacement, so they installed another black mirror and then replaced the passenger-side chrome mirror with a black one so both sides would match--leaving the truck with mismatched original spec and no chrome mirrors. Only when picking up the truck after all of this did I learn how the transmission was originally deemed "fine"--the tech said he listened to it with a stethoscope. That is not a proper diagnosis. Standard procedure includes scanning for codes, checking fluid condition/level, and road testing to evaluate shifting performance. Had a engine missing problem and my son call and was told they was a diagnostic charge but it would be applied to the repair. I took car in and received estimate that spark plugs was bad (all new but one was melted) and that the charge to replace the 4 plugs was $164.95 for diagnostic and additional $281.66 to replace the 4 plugs for a total of $446.61 and also recommended that the fuel injectors needed cleans by adding additive to my gas and running the engine (which had been done the month before) for additional $243.92 for $690.53. I called and was told there was a misunderstanding that the diagnostic charge has always been in addition to the repair. I asked if I had all that done would he guarantee that would correct the problem and was told no that this was just the starting point. I refused the repair and paid the diagnostic charge and took my vehicle to a different repair shop and they took 45 minutes and said their testing showed that the coil on one plug was bad and a second was weak. They replaced all 4 coils and the one bad plug for less than $350 . This was my second time where CB stopped before determining the total reason for my problem. read more

On 08 September 2023, Christan Brothers stated they needed to order a main fuse box to repair my Jeep Grand Cherokee. As the part was backordered, it was going to take 4-6 weeks but I was required to pay $550 for the part now. After 6 weeks, I would routinely call Christan Bros to ask for an update but always got the same "we're working on it" rely. At no point did they ever reach out to me with an update. On 02 January 2024, I called and spoke with Luis for an update. Luis stated he would call Courtesy Jeep and get back to me. After several hours, I became skeptical if Luis had actually inquired about the part. I called Courtesy Jeep myself and spoke with Dan from the Parts Department. Not only did Dan have the part in stock, but their price was $130 less than what Christan Bros had charged me. I then called Luis back, letting him know the part was in and asked why I was being charged $130 more for the part. He stated this was Christan Bros markup. In an attempt to save money, I offered to pick up the part myself since I found it. Luis fired back "you didn't find it and the $550 I paid is non-refundable." I've been a loyal customer at this Christan Bros location for several years. I feel like I've been lied to and ripped off by people who knew me, and my family. After Christan Brothers had my money, there was an utter indifference on their end for finding the part and fixing my Jeep. They did a very thorough inspection but recommended replacing all the coils and wire harness clips and I had just replaced them 3 year before. I said I just wanted the one fixed and they asked for $1400. They wanted $75 more for the part then Lexus charges and the bad coil turned out to be on the front side which is simple to access and I was able to replace the coil and the clip in 30 minutes for less than $50 in parts. I am getting older and it is not as easy to work on the car but I would never go here again since they will rip you off with overpriced parts and exaggerated labor. read more

This business claims to be honest and fair, but they are the exact opposite. They're overpriced. They add in charges that you're not aware of and have not approved. They will "fix" your vehicle, but then upon its return to you, you'll find that if not repaired at all. So you demand that they actually fix your car and once again they lie claiming that it's repaired. In my situation, they had my vehicle for a total of about four weeks. I picked up my car when they said it was fixed and it broke down on me once again 40 minutes later!! I take it back to them and they say they can't figure out what the issue is but that it's repaired this time. So I pick it up And I am told that I cannot use a certain aspect of my vehicle. If my car is fixed then I should be able to use it with all aspects. Guess what! It wasn't fixed once again. I take it to a different mechanic, and the man had it for a few hours one day and fixed my car For less than what christian brothers charged me. I contact Christian brothers hoping that they will be fair and honest and at least partially refund the 600 and some dollars they charged to "fix" my vehicle. But they don't. They refund the part for $45. They will scam you out of so much money your head will spin! Do not come here! You can find better! Late November we took our son's car to Christian Brothers due to squeaking breaks. After their normal inspection they came back with numerous issues with the car. We decided to do the following for $1500: Tire pressure light flashing, Under hood Fluid Leaks, Engine Air Filter, Oil Change Sticker, Diagnostic Codes Present or Recently Cleared with OBDII, Front and rear Brake Pads / Linings. After we brought the car home the car will cut off when trying to go in reverse. Since they were closed on Saturday and Sundays our son took the car back on Wednesday the following week. Apparently they did not connect a cable correctly then as my son was leaving the car stopped again. My son got angry and it was words exchanged with two employees and he was told that he couldn't go back to the shop. We took the car to Firestone and they find out that the oil cap was not place correctly. This is not acceptable and I will never recommend this company to anyone. My wife took her vehicle there for a an oil change. They told us the oil filter cap needed to be replaced. Once work was completed we woke up the next morning with 5 quarts of oil on our driveway. When they took off the old cap a piece broke off and they installed the new one on top of it. Now HOA is sending us notice that our driveway needs to be cleaned/ repaired. Don't be fooled by the name. They are really nice and dishonest. I had money stolen from my car (first was my mistake second was a test) and given ridiculous diagnosis in an attempt to upsell. The highlight was a banging noise when going over speed bums after they changed my son's struts. We brought it back in and they said nothing was wrong, but my motor mounts were loose and needed replaced. We declined and left, then tested over some speed bumps. The banging was gone. read more

I never give bad reviews but in this case, I feel compelled to share my disheartening experience with " Christian Brothers Automotive - Riverview". On April 29, 2024, I brought my Jeep in to be serviced for, rear brake pads, brake fluid flush, and tire rotation. I dropped my Wife's car off for her 5pm appointment and picked my Jeep up and drove home. I live 2mins, less than a mile from the shop. When I got home, I noticed one of my Wheel Center Caps was missing but the screws to the cap was still in place. I returned to CBA to inform them. Spoke directly with the service tech and he stated, "he put them all back on but after-market parts are cheaply made and that the center cap could've possibly broke off while he was test driving it after completion of service." He also informed me that he had to replace a lug on the same tire (rear driver) because original lug stripped during service which so-happened to be wheel lock for that tire. After dropping over $500 for services, I feel like there was no accountability on CBA's part. They never offered any solutions on how we could rectify this issue. I was made to feel like I was to blame for this unfortunate incident. As consumers one thing we can all agree on is that we would like our vehicles returned to us at least in the same condition if not better than when we dropped it off. To add insult to injury, my wife's vehicle was never seen because they didn't look on the computer to see she had a 5pm appointment. It was just sitting in their lot. I've tried to call to voice my displeasure with management and have left several messages and have yet to receive a call back. I'm just frustrated by the entire situation. I had my transmission checked at the Riverview location. I was never given a written estimate as required by Florida Law and I was charged at the end $460. The work done was for dropping the pan, cleaning the pan reinstalling the pan with my original gasket and refilled with my original fluid so no parts or fluid were necessary. We had spoken the previous day about a different service but we decided to do this work instead. It took the technician 1.5 hours to perform this work. I spoke to Eugine the sales guy and asked him what his Shop labor rate and he said $194 per hour. BUT they didn't use the shop rate, they charged me a flat rate and because the tech was finished early the flat rate was still used. When I spoke to Eugine, he told me I was suffering from Buyers remorse. I am going to take this further to News 8 On Your Side and the Better Business Bureau as well to file a complaint. I will never go to Christian Brother Auto for any service what so ever and would advise that anyone planning on going should do their own research and get every piece of information in writing before you say YES. read more

Our car was blowing warm air and we asked them to inspect the AC system. They said it needed Freon and charged us $500 to recharge the system. After getting the car back I did a search and found that was significantly more than what others would have charged. I also received a notice from the manufacturer that there was a problem with the AC system that caused them to extend the warranty. A problem that they could have easily found with a web search, but that would have lost them work. They also gave us a laundry list of other work that needed to be performed based on mileage, but a search on the manufacturer's web site showed that none of these things were anywhere close to being necessary. Those repairs would have cost about $6,000! Within four weeks after the recharge, the AC was blowing warm air again. I took it to a dealer to see in the problem was covered by the extended warranty. It was. I needed a new compressor and gasket. Christian Brothers charged us $500 for absolutely nothing and they lied in an attempt to rip us off further. It started with my car overheating. We shut the car off and had it towed here. We paid $700 then they released the vehicle to us. Drove it and then it overheated again. We brought it back and they said it was a cracked reservoir tank so we paid another $100 to fix that. They released the vehicle to us and AGAIN it overheated. So we had it towed AGAIN and they let us know that the engine blew and there is no way to fix it except get a new engine which cost the price of a new used car. In all my years of getting vehicles serviced, I have to say this establishment takes the entire cake. This business is extremely professional, organized and quick when it comes to customer service and maintenance. I brought my truck in for an oil change. I found them on Yelp and they had high marks - after coming here I know why. I made an appointment a couple of days before and received a couple of reminders as the appointment approached. This was good, since I forget sometimes. Upon entering the office I actually thought I was in the wrong business. The waiting area looked (or smelled) nothing like your typical automotive business. They had nice furniture, hard wood floors and the front office workers were dressed very professionally. They proceeded to service my truck immediately while I enjoyed the comfort of a leather couch. Service took less than 25 minutes and when all was said and done my truck was running, A/C on and a cold bottle of water on the cup holder. These folks pride themselves on an elevated work ethic and superior customer service. Toby, the guy that took care of me, was awesome and answered all the maintenance questions I had. A few days later I got a card in the mail from the owner, who expressed his appreciation for my business. They do basic stuff too - oil changes and all that - but the big jobs are why I come here. Prices are fair and in line with other reasonable mechanics, but the customer service is outstanding. They'll remember who you are, drop you off at home, and generally make you feel like a very valued customer. Plus they play christian music at the shop and in the courtesy vehicle, and have bibles and other literature you can religiously peruse should you so desire. I'm not a particularly religious person, but hey, they could worship Shub-Niggurath, the Black Goat of the Woods with a Thousand Young for all I care with their outstanding customer service.
