The support staff is exceptional. It's not often you find both pleasant and efficient but they are BOTH. The receptionist was multi-tasking and continued to be kind without missing a beat. They had equipment issues the morning of my appointment and were running behind. What I appreciated the most was the continued acknowledgment that they were working as fast as they can and they were sorry about the delay. I think I had someone acknowledged me four or five times as I waited. It makes a difference. read more

This place is a disaster and not worthy of one star. I need a laser cleanup on a secondary cataract. I was told the procedure would take 5-10 minutes but that I had to drive into Houston to get it done. I was initially scheduled at 6:00 a.m., subject to change. I found out from the other patients there that they were initially scheduled at different times that morning after my time. The day before the surgery, all of the patients in line for this procedure were instructed to be at the surgery center at 11:30. We were herded around like cattle for nearly two hours before they started calling patients back for the procedure. I have severe stenosis in my back, so sitting and standing for long periods of time causes me excruciating pain. I sat there and watched all of the other patients who were initially scheduled after me and some that arrived after me get called back. At one point, the nurse came out and said I would be up next. Wrong! They skipped me and took other patients back. I was in so much pain, I finally had to leave and drive another hour to get home. Now, I have to start all over and find a doctor that will fix my eye. This outfit schedules more people than they can see in one day. That is not patient care. It's just plain greed. read more

My husband and I had a great experience here. The eye dr. Was great. She really took her time at examining my eyes and explained everything to me. They also were transparent with their service prices and whether or not my insurance covered it and gave me a choice to accept those services. They also took the time to explain to me my what my insurance benefits would cover and what the best option was for us for our budget. read more

Dr Hoang is fantastic. She takes time to really listen to your desires with regard to contacts and emphasis on your specific needs. I have a difficult prescription and she has worked on improving it to allow me greater range in my vision. It's been amazing and I've dealt with contacts for 48 years! Very grateful! read more

I love the staff and doctors at the Clear Lake/NASA office. They always do their best to accommodate the patients when they need appointments. They got me in and even checked me in earlier than my appt time. Dr Hollas was very thorough checking my eyes due to a previous issue I had earlier in the year. Despite the pandemic, Berkeley Eye Center in Clear Lake, went above and beyond to accommodate the needs and safety of me and my daughter. This was our first appointment with Berkeley, as we were wanting to change doctors. We had read so many good reviews about the establishment and the team. Dr. Hollas and his entire office staff were exceptional. We are so glad that we moved our charts to this office. If you are needing to get your vision checked I definitely recommend this location! The staff were all super helpful in getting me checked in, and getting my information in the system. What is sometimes not an easy process as a new patient was super easy. The staff doing my initial testing and exam were so friendly. Any questions I had they were more than willing to take the time to answer them for me. Just a great experience in getting my annual visit done. I love Berkeley Eye Center, I have been seeing Dr Hall for about 5 years now. Had the pleasure of meeting Dr Hollis at my last visit since Dr Hall is out right now, and that was also a great experience. Everyone there is so nice and great at what they do. The ladies that work in frames boutique are very helpful with finding the perfect frame for your face shape. I always look forward to my yearly eye exams, they stay on top of the up to date designer frames and carry versatile styles. read more

My visit today was quick and easy. The Covid precautions were more than adequate. The wait before the exam started was short. The staff was very nice an explained all that was being done. Dr. Hall was very nice and professional. However, the staff did not rate well at all for me or my husband. The front desk staff seem disinterested, unfriendly and bored and more inclined to watch HGTV rather than be friendly or helpful at all to us as patients. It seemed to us that we were a nuisance to them. We initially also had a terrible time getting through via phone when trying to contact the office - we were on hold for 20 min one time and eventually just gave up and called another day. I made a medical appointment for my eyes due to a medication that can cause eye damage and I needed them checked for this reason alone. I explained what was needed on the phone for this since I've had this done for years. Upon arriving, I had to explain again that this was a medical appointment and not a routine eye exam. I had to explain this to the assistant Brittany in the room, yet again, when she tried to set up the equipment to do a routine eye exam. I had to tell her my insurance will not cover this since I am not due for a routine exam for a few months and explain that I would not be paying for any costs outside of the medical appointment I had requested when I made the appointment. At that point she said she was going to go talk to her supervisor. She came back and abandoned the routine eye exam tests. I told her she was more than welcome to do them, but it would be at the office's expense, not mine. I also noticed when she was inputting my medical info into the computer, she left out some info. I brought it to her attention and she also had to google several things in order to enter them. I also saw that she had incorrectly entered that I had high cholesterol. When I quested her about this, she said she read the line/box wrong and then correctly entered my autoimmune disorder issues - this is not even a closely related mistake! To her credit, she was very professional and nice. Upon completing my visit, Dr. Hall explained that I would need another appointment to complete the second test to identify any issues as a result of the medication I take. Apparently this is new, because a year ago at my previous eye doctor, I was able to do the fields test in one visit along with the first test. According to this office, that is no longer the case and they must now be done in two separate visits. When I made the appointment this was not explained to me, which is extremely frustrating. It is frustrating because I've never had to do two visits for this issue before and the next available appointment is not until Sept., according to Katie. I had explained when I made the appointment that I needed to get my appointment for this in before the end of August when my insurance ends with my old job and prior to starting my new job. That is why I was making the appointment before my routine eye exam is due. Now, the second appointment to complete the second test of my medical appointment is not until Sept - after my insurance ends and well after I start my new job. How does that help me at all and how is any of this acceptable business practice or acceptable customer service? Before leaving the office, I asked Katie to put me on their cancelation list for anything sooner if something comes available - she just looked at me without really responding. Additionally, my husband was told when getting his routine eye exam/exam for glasses that the exam for contacts would be an additional $115. We have never had anyone tell us that at any of our previous eye doctors. What is going on here? This was a very frustrating and disappointing introduction to Berkeley Eye - our experience was highly subpar. Previous to this visit I had been going to the office located in Katy. I prefer this location so much more because there are only two doctors (I think), where in Katy there are too many doctors to even know which one I was seeing. They are both good offices. Great staff and doctors, but I do like the smaller office staff in this Clear Lake location. Also very easy to reorder contacts from as well. read more

I enjoy the consistency from the staff - they are always professional & pleasant. My interaction with Lydia in the optical store section was most pleasant. She was very patient during my indecision of picking eyeglasses & went the extra mile to verify benefits through my vision insurance since it was my 1st time using this particular insurance. All said--the location is great. However. I had to wait 30-45min for my appointment (that had been scheduled). The optometrist didn't answer my questions very thoroughly, and I got hung up on during one phone call. I spent a week very frustrated with my time there. The contacts seem to be the right prescription. However, I was expecting it to be off--not a good feeling when you leave any kind of doctor. read more

Dr. Muecke was great. The reason for only 4 stars is that they used some machine on me that my insurance didn't cover. I wish I had known about this ahead of time so that I could have opted out. Additionally the wait time after the dilation drops was quite long. read more
