If I could rate this hospital less then 1 star I would. The ER wasn't too bad but the oncology floor was terrible. The attention given to my with was non existent. The nursing staff treated her as if she was of no importance at all. My family and I were forced to watch my Wife to die. They allowed her to become malnourished, dehydrated and so weak she could not benefited from Chemotherapy. The Federal Government should investigate this place for fraud. read more

They were all very dismissive of my boyfriends pain from the very start and it never got better they moved at turtle pace and granted this was from 11am to 5 pm so still pretty early in the day All of the nurses were rude except for one the blonde lady was the worst my Bf just needed an IV and some nausea and cramping medicine as this had happened in the past but they took forever to even start an IV the nurse stood in the doorway talking to her coworkers about bin work related things for a good 5 min while holding the IV and medicine he needed I literally stared her down the whole time hoping she would get the hint so I didn't have to be rude. It didn't get any better the 5 hours we were there even the bald headed doctor was down right rude and seem to have little to no bed side manor or even a lick of common sense tbh I will NEVER go to this ER or hospital again not to mention the dirty ass rooms walls covered in dirt and grime even some blood in clear view I should've take some pics of the place too tbh read more

~ I'm amazed at all the reviews I've read (25-26 April 2025). Very early last Sunday morning (20 April 2025), my husband had severe chest pains and breathing problems. He begged me to drive him to the ever-Incompetent Jefferson Medical Ctr., Ranson, WV. Our problems started with the incompetent staff taking care of my husband. One bitch of a "doctor" refused to speak to me; she only addressed my husband; as if I wasn't in the room. If it wouldn't cost me 5-10 years in jail, I would have slapped the hell out of her (for being so rude). He was diagnosed with a heart attack and airlifted to Berkeley Medical, Martinsburg, WV. Our SUV had 1/4 tank of gas; an attendant said I could make it there on that. I told him I couldn't, stopped to fill the tank, then get to Berkeley. When I arrived, he was already in surgery. A kind security guard took me to the Waiting Room, brought me some water and a snack. I spent 2-3 hours with my Bible for spiritual support, praying the whole time. Finally when the surgeon emerged, he said he put 3 stents in my husband's heart. They placed him in ICU where I was anxious to see him. My husband and I have been married over 14 years and are very close. He was released on Wed. 23 April 2025. As he was being discharged, a nurse said that his heart meds were ready, however, THE PHARMACY WAS CLOSED. What was the point of telling us? I distinctly told the nurse 3 times to transfer my husband's heart meds to Weis Supermarket (Ranson) b/c it's where I pick up my eye med refills. She was told that all the Walgreens/CVS Pharmacies in our area were out of business. There was a definite MISCOMMUNICATION; as I must have spoken fluent French. We had to make 2 trips burning gas and daylight just to straighten out the mess the hospital caused. There is no way I will give any hospital high marks (2 stars is my limit). Hospitals work to service US, the community. We as taxpayers subsidize their salaries but what do we get in return? I have already filed complaints with Jefferson Medical and Innova Fairfax, Arlington, VA. My next step will be to contact either my Congressman or State Senator or local Delegate to find out how to remove their funding and begin immediate litigation. I'd give it no stars if I could. We took a family member here after trying to commit suicide and from the moment we checked her in there was absolutely no compassion. They left us sitting in the waiting room for over five hours with no answers or contact with any nurses or doctors. Our family member wasn't seen by any doctors until almost 6 hours later. We were told the hospital would reach out with updates and plans, it's been three days and we still have yet to receive a single phone call. The nurse in the ER told our family member she was not blessed by god because she tried committing suicide. She is left in a room all day with drugs being forced down her throat. Three days later has yet to see an actual doctor, just nurses. No updates. Absolutely disgusted with the lack of care and compassion from this hospital. read more

This hospital is nothing shy of a joke!!!! My sister just had my brother n law there because he was diagnosed with blockages in his neck and subsequently had a stoke. My sister is wheel chair bound and uses a scooter to get around. She is overweight and that also leads to her inability to function normally. Her husband had been taken to a local hospital in Keyser, WV and then transferred to Berkeley Medical Center because of needing a vascular surgeon. My sister had to get a hotel room in order to stay in the area but was called in to stay with her husband due to the fact that he was becoming combative with the staff because of his illness. She agreed and went to the hospital in order to be of some help to the nurses in the way of feeding him and keeping him calm. The next day which was yesterday January 1st 2025 after being in so much pain herself, she was approached by one of the nurses telling her that she felt that my sister should go down to the ER herself because of the swelling in her legs and the pain she was in. My sister told the nurse that she would be ok and that she wanted to stay with her husband in case he needed her help as he would not eat anything without her getting him to do so. The nurse continued to try to talk her into it and even told her that she would have someone come by to wheel her down to the ER and then back when she was done. The nurse was very persistent in trying to talk her into going so my sister finally agreed. The took X-rays and gave her pain medication to help get her thru the night. The next day she was met with the same nurse and three security guards demanding that she leave the hospital with the reason that she was a liability to the hospital and that she was not the patient there that her husband was the patient. She tried to explain to them that she was asked by them to go to the ER and wondered why they had sent three security guards to her to enforce the fact that they wanted her out of the hospital. This whole situation was over the top crazy and very disheartening to my sister who at the time didn't have a hotel room to go to and also because she was worried about being with her husband as it had already been brought to her attention that the staff was not doing their job in his regards either as he had not been eating because his tray of food had not been touched. The nurse eventually brought another female doctor to the room which was on the fourth floor of this facility and the Doctor asked her what seemed to be the problem. My sister explained to her the situation and the how poorly she was treated after being asked to come in and help with her husband and the Doctor stated that she didn't think that they were trying to be mean to her that it was a matter of liability for them. My sister explained to the doctor that she hadn't asked anyone from the hospital to help her in anyway and that she only agreed to go to the ER after the none stop prompting that was done by that same nurse who was being extremely rude to her. At that point this very rude nurse stated "See what we have been dealing with"? My sister decided to take her husband from this hospital today and bring him home as they wanted him out of their facility as well and told him and her both that they couldn't do any operating procedures on him until a month as they felt that he would not be a good candidate for surgery at that time. They wanted to wait for an entire month to do so even though both arteries in his neck were 80% blocked and he is at high risk because of that for another stroke or even a heart attack. I would not recommend this hospital and especially the fourth floor staff most notably this particular nurse (and you know who you are!) to anyone that I really cared about. My own son in laws mother works for this hospital and she recommended to me to tell my sister to get him out of there as fast as she possibly could because they do not take care of their patients and have a reputation of the lack of caring and skilled staff. Stay clear of this hospital and if you ever run into a nurse that works on the fourth floor of this pathetic institution and if she has an idiotic rude disposition about her, just tell her "Shame on you for the lack of caring you show your patients". Oh and a good slap up side her head wouldn't be out of the normal either. Shameful place!!!!!! read more

This hospital needs to be investigated. They are incompetent, they lack true compassion and the desire to help ppl. The ER staff reminds me of work release, the nurses are rude, condescending and narcissistic. My father received the worst care imaginable. All I heard was I needed to let my father go. He went from not having pnemonia, to having pneumonia. They deprived him of oxygen, he was in septic shock but I was never told, they claimed he was brain dead, he wasn't. They extubated him and let him lay there gasping for air until I walked in, then the nurses scurried from behind their station & then put the by pap mask on him. I leave and hours later they called and said it wasn't sustainable, he'd never leave the hospital alive, so I made the difficult decision to put him in comfort care, he passed quickly & peacefully. I did it to prevent them from neglecting and torturing him ever again. In 2017 they did the same thing, I had him Air lifted to University of Md in Baltimore, he got REAL care there and they saved his life. They treated him like every time. Then they gave his body to the wrong funeral home. Yep, you read it right, they gave my father's body to the wrong funeral home w/o authorization. Disgusting! The board will be notified! His MyChart was deactivated within minutes of him dying. And he had United Health Care to boot! After ICU doctors spoke with his PCP, who was horrible to begin with, they went from -he's going to be fine to - pull the plug. He was neglected for days! Tortured on life support with no sedation or pain meds. Telling my brother one thing and me another. Withheld information intentionally! If you think that they don't follow orders from Insurance Companies for kick backs you're delusional! They were not going to admit him at all! I found out he had sepsis by looking at his MyChart, once I confronted them they still denied it! Do not take your loved ones here. I will be taking action! Especially after they lost my fathers body by giving him to the wrong funeral home. They wanted him dead so bad, but couldn't take care of him dead or alive. Someone investigate this place. I've filed a complaint. I doubt anything will be done. They have gotten by with garbage care for years. read more

The ER was like a comedy show. I took my mother there because she was very sick. after Taking her blood, we were waiting to get her into a sick bay. Nursing staff kept popping out of different doors calling to patients that had already gone to X-ray or other hospital specialties. I decided to run and get her some soup and when I got back, the doctor had seen her, prescribed anti nausea medication and sent her home. Took her to Winchester Medical Center the next day, along with myself because I was now ill. She had COVID and so did I. At Winchester Medical, we received fluids, anti nausea medication and good solid care. The Emergency care at Martinsburg could not diagnose COVID! read more

In no time appendicitis kicked in and the pain was unbearable. The emergency swiftly took care of the pain and the morning after the surgical removal got completed. The staff is caring, from the nurses to the anesthesiologist and the surgeon. The structure is clean and the room was convenient albeit a bit small for 2 patients. Not that I want to come back, but if that's ever needed I wouldn't hesitate a second for me or my family. read more

I visited Berkeley Medical Center's ER last June and last week. Never again. In June, I presented with nerve pain. I mentioned to the doctor that I know what nerve pain feels like because I've suffered from a slipped cervical disc and sciatica. The doctor insisted it was muscular, threw a prescription for muscle relaxants at me and left. I threw away the useless prescription. A day later when I broke out in a rash, I diagnosed myself with Singles, a painful nerve condition. What good is it if the doctor won't listen or believe you? Last week I presented with severe intermittent abdominal pain that had started three weeks previous. I was checked in and then told to go out and wait in the lobby for the doctor. Feeling very ill, I asked to lay on the bed in the check in room, but was denied. It was a good thing I had taken a basin with me to the hospital because I was left alone in the lobby, vomiting, without any help or even tissues. No, no tissues available "due to Covid." Eventually I was taken back "to see the doctor." I saw the back of him, that's all. He never examined me or even looked me in the eye. He ordered a CT scan and diagnosed me with "gastroenteritis" according to the nurse. I have had gastroenteritis and it does NOT present with severe abdominal pain of three weeks and does NOT resolve with vomiting. I never "saw" the doctor again. The nurse gave me a prescription for Phenergan. I never used it. BTW...I experienced the exact same gut pain and nausea five days later. I never bothered to go to the Berkeley Medical Center ER. What would be the point? I would go to the ER at Berkeley Medical Center if I were hemorrhaging or in a car wreck. Otherwise, I don't see the point. read more

I'm just gonna start with this piece of advice when reading reviews: read carefully and think about what the reviewer is complaining about. If you show up to an ER with an issue that is not in fact emergent, that can be taken care of at home but you "felt better" going to the ER to have it sorted for you, you can and should expect to be the very last in line, even if the patient in question is a kid. ER's do not operate on a first come first served basis, at all. The point of triage is to determine which cases are actual emergencies, and which are not, so that the patients who are in danger of losing life or limb can avoid, ya know, dying or losing a limb. I have been first in line three times in my life, and believe me, I wish I hadn't needed to be. Once I was hemorrhaging during a pregnancy, once my appendix had ruptured, and once I had shattered my ankle. I promise you anyone who is quickly rushed to the back is fully suffering and would much rather be out in the waiting room being inconvienced by other sick people. If you show up at an ER during cold and flu season, bring a book, or your phone, or the patience you should have acquired by the time you reached adulthood, because you're in for a long wait. People complaining about ER wait times as if anyone can control that, are severely lacking in self awareness. I assure you, the hospital staff were more than ready to see the back of your childish self as soon as you walked in the door, Karen. Last night I was sent to the ER via the urgent care because I was in respiratory distress. I had to stand or sit straight up to breathe. I was hard to answer any of their questions. I waited in the waiting room like everyone else, and was triaged, and called back for tests from there. They'd do a test, and send me back, do a test and send me back, because they literally had nowhere else to put me. They were very efficient, always apologetic about the wait, and very clearly used to being verbally abused by the people they're trying to treat. I was eventually seated in a recliner in the hallway, where I got a neb treatment and an IV. I asked the nurse helping me if I could have an ice pack because I was having hot flashes from the meds I'd been given; he'd said yes, and then got caught up doing something and forgot. about ten minutes later he saw me again, said "Ice pack, right!' and came back with an ice pack. he forgot because he's a a very harried person taking care of a ton of people at once, and he remembered because he actually did care about making me more comfortable. Got to a room once one opened. I'd been in the hall near an elderly lady on oxygen, but I got a room before her because I was more acute at the time. She waved at me as I went by. She didn't throw a fit about not being first. More tests, everything was explained to me in detail and the nurses and techs were friendly, but didn't have time to stay and chat, not because they were being curt or rude, but because they were crazy busy. The doc came in, explained things to me, ordered more meds, and once I was stable enough to breathe lying down, I was sent home with some RX's. I never once saw anyone standing around chatting. There was a constant flow of people up at the check-in desk, and everyone was handled as quickly as possible. All the staff were professional, competent, and kind. We've been to this ER for a few different things and have always had a good experience. I think the key to a good experience is generally about attitude. Know you're about to wait a while in an uncomfortable environment. Even if your symptoms seen like the Worst Thing In The World to you, the doctors have all actually seen the worst things in the world, and if they say you can stand to wait and someone else can't, they're not getting their kicks being cruel to you specifically, they're trying to not kill someone who actually needs immediate help. Try saying Please and Thank You. Try not to ask for things you can get yourself. Understand that other people came to the ER with totally separate problems, and have to wait as well. Yes, even if they're barfing, even if they're acutely mentally ill, even if they have a very minor but highly uncomfortable issue that could have been treated at home or an urgent care. Treat people as you would want to be treated, even if they don't have time to sit an listen to your life story, or they're short with you because they're working in one of the most stressful professions that there is, or because maybe they just had to tell someone that their loved one just died. That helipad outside isn't there for show. Neither is the "Consultation Room" stocked with tissues. Yes you're sick, yes you're maybe in pain, yes you're tired, no you don't want to be there, no you aren't the only patient in the building. People are people, and they're doing their best. This ER does their best better than many others I've visited. read more

Worst ER ever! Longest wait time and surrounded by mentally crazy people, also people throwing up blood. There's not enough beds or wheelchairs. Bathrooms are disgusting. When the EMT's brought me to the Emergency room they made me get off the stretcher and walk barefoot into the waiting room while having a gallbladder attack and barely able to breath. By the time I was seen by a doctor I was feeling back to normal and they sent me home. read more

My 4yo was admitted for possible liver failure and yes the wait was long due to covid and the fact that its an ER BUT they went above and beyond to keep her from being scared out of her mind. Spent 5 hours in the ER (mostly waiting room) on Wednesday morning and another 7+ hours, mostly in an exam room, on Wednesday evening before admission. One TV in the lobby was on and set for Fox "News" channel. Bad enough, never been to a waiting area in a hospital where they set the TV to a political channel. My patient was in misery then had to listen to this crap. No way to get comfortable. Arthritic joints were screaming after hours in the nice looking but uncomfortable chairs. People were doing all kinds of things from eating dinner (inconsiderate of those there who were having GI issues) to carrying on lengthy and loud video calls and watching videos with the volume up. Pain at a 10, drenched with sweat, vomiting and moaning and writhing in pain? No, we can't put you in a bed, someone will come get you (2 hrs later), and let's take the young girl who just ate a burger and fries and practically prances across the lobby instead of the sick old guy. The staff was mostly kind but stretched too thin. It seemed once we went to a room that there were plenty of beds but not enough staff to cover all the rooms. Also, we saw staff in that area sitting at the station chatting for long periods of time. The ER doc was curt, condescending and pretty much a dick but he did turn us over to a kind hospitalist who understood our needs. I'm sure there's a protocol to follow but when the patient says "this works for me but that doesn't", and it's backed up by at least five other episodes in their medical record, then don't insist on trying "that" which doesn't work. No pillows, no visitor chairs, dirty ceilings, and why do nurses insist on wearing scrubs that are two sizes too small? read more

The level of incompetence I witnessed during my last visit has me certain, even in an emergency, I will never choose this hospital. Very basic things such as putting an IV up high so it will actually drip was only the beginning of the things I could list but to put it simply the doctors did absolutely nothing to actually assist us, providing zero answers and zero follow up. The person I was with went in for digestion issues, they never even brought up diet. These doctors are looking for the lowest hanging fruit to blame something on so they can take your insurance money and make their way to someone else and repeat that process. I get the oxymoronic nature of saying they look for the easiest answer then don't ask about diet.... it's because their incompetent nature is borderline apathetic. They don't care enough to actually ask questions that matter, because they do not care. If they did, they would not have dismissed us with zero information to work with. The only verbal things they gave us to work with on what could be going on, never made its way to the paperwork to ensure they made no impact on us with any medical assistance. I can only imagine if you go to this hospital in a life threatening emergency...you should plan your funeral on the way to the hospital. read more

Awful awful awful. unless you are dying I do not recommend you go here. my daughter had been constipated for months and after working with many doctors I felt the ER was the best way to go for an enema. I waited 3.5 hours with a 4 year old to watch person after person go ahead. No communication, no updates, nothing . Finally I asked just to know where we were in the roaster. The receptionist refused to tell me anything and said I could leave if I wanted. I could not believe how disrespectful, uncaring and unprofessional. I left with my daughter and had no choice but to try a suppository at home. I have never felt so mistreated than I did here. read more

We're recent transplants here so we come with a fresh perspective. I had learned about a new procedure at the monthly educational forums and inquired, had an evaluation. Once I was considered a candidate, I had the surgery and everything went very well. The staff was excellent. My wife went in for serious coughing and post-sinus issues that did NOT respond to anti-biotics, the initial one, and a stronger one. The first visit to the ER they took an x-ray and sent her home, basically saying to stick with the program and tough it out. She went in a second time to ER and they admitted her for pneumonia. The hospital facilities leave a lot to be desired, but they are sincerely working on improvements. They have a newly constructed ICU, and in two weeks will have a whole new ER (that is desperately needed). Since WVU Health Systems took over, City Hospital apparently has come a long way. We are open using this as a health care resource as it continues to improve its offerings, services, and facilities. read more

Then an RN by the name of Jakki was rude when I informed her she was wrapping my wife's foot wrong. So what I gained from this experience. Dont ever go to this ER on 2nd shift. The staff is rude. I went to deliver flowers and asked for help from the ladies sitting at the front desk and got NO help. I was told the it's "just the nurses station" like I know where that is. My mother is immobile & needed to have a brain MRI. She was in her wheelchair when the technician asked if she was able to walk. We stated that she was not able to stand or walk at all. She then asked how we got her out of her wheelchair. We explained we had a lift to take her out of wheelchair to her hospital bed. She told us that her dept didn't have a lift. She said that she would hunt one down for us. She came to get us awhile later and we took my mother back to check out the lift. This lift was about 20 years old & did not work with the sling my mother had under her. Their sling worked with straps while my mother's sling works with chains. This was the only lift the whole entire hospital had. My father was very upset at this point because we have to get transportation to take my mother to these appointments which cost my father $20.00 each time. Not to mention it is not easy to get my mother ready for these appointments. We asked to talk to a supervisor. About 30 minutes later a different person came to tell us that they brought some people in to lift my mother onto the MRI. Now the neurologist my mother has seen has stated he wants her to have a EEG done. We tried to schedule this procedure, which would be done at McCormick Center beside hospital. When we stated she was immobile on the phone we were told they have no way to move her. So the hospital only has one lift which is over 20 years old & McCormick Center has no lifts. I have done some research & lifts start at 600 dollars & up. But Berkeley Medical can't invest in several different ones. This is pathetic of a hospital. We were supposed to get a call back from the EEG dept but have yet got a call back. This is a disgrace to our community. read more

Wouldn't even give them a single star if that was possible. If your loved one is admitted good luck trying to talk to them, you won't be notified when their blood pressure falls 40/20 but still get told they're asleep when they haven't been asleep since the night before, you'll get kicked out by a different nurse than the one that asked if you are staying the night, they're too worried about loosing their precious computer instead of getting off their asses to give your family member the phone, even better, you have to be hungry and thirsty on their schedule in order to get a drink. I'm surprised they let you go to the bathroom when you have to and not when they want you too. If you have a choice between coming to Berkley Medical Center or putting duct tape on your serious infected wound, choose the duct tape because you won't deal with half the bullshit Berkley "make you want to kill your self" Center puts you through. Day2: Being kicked out of the bed when your family member wanted you to sit in the bed with you, literally feels like you get treated like you're a damn criminal just because you're on the goddamn bed. This place can go eff itself, what the patient wants is irrelevant to the staff, everything is what they want and how they want it. Like i said, pick suffering than coming to this hell hole, might as well go to prison because at least there you'll have more freedom. So I woke up with a 103 degree fever. Pretty sure was a bad flu. Just finished at Berkeley medical center, where u can walk-in feeling like a law abiding educated member of society with no criminal history and walk out feeling like they accused you of being a drug addled junkie. Due to circumstance, not preference, I have had to use Berkeley before after I got 4 broken ribs and in a head on collision and was told to take Tylenol for what was some of the worst pain I've ever experienced. Today, after they confirmed the flu and I expressed concerns related to a bad cough related hematoma I had developed a couple years ago ( I have issues with blood loss so it is serious issue, which was treated there and in my records, totally can be confirmed) my husband and I asked if I could get something stronger for my cough. They said no, that is all they prescribe. While waiting for what I thought were my discharge papers, the rude nurse Bradley suddenly asks me for a urine sample!! I asked "I tested positive for the flu, what could you possibly need a urine sample for??" He tersely responded "bacteria" and left the room never to return. Every time I leave that hospital I feel like Ive walked thru the looking toads. I realize we have an opioid crisis here, but c'mon. Don't make actually sick people feel as good f they've done something wrong for advocating for appropriate care. read more

My father was treated at BMC on several occasions. After several hours each time he was sent home and told to take 2 325mg. aspirins a day. Since he was getting worse, since he was a veteran had him sent to the VA hospital. He was admitted immediately to respiratory ICU. Turns out his entire body is being taken over by a bacterial infection, plus other issues. He has been given a 50/50 chance to live. I used to defend the BMC since it was getting such a bad press, but no longer. It is to hospitals what the "bad news bears" is to baseball. read more

I am posting this for my mother at her request because she is not able to do it yet. She is so impressed with the level of care she did not want it to wait. My mother was admitted for congestive heart failure but she has a plethora of other health concerns that complicated and lengthened her stay. The staff on the second floor is wonderful! Every aspect of care from the nurses to the housekeeping staff were courteous and professional, but more than that they cared! This has been a scary time for our family and their empathy extended not only to my mother but every family member that visited her. Every detail including the quality of her meals was excellent and every visit from the staff left her reassured and smiling. It's never a good thing when a loved one is hospitalized and family is driven by concern but if it happens the staff at Berkeley Medical Center can not be beat! read more

This hospital has only changed a little. The Emergency room is excellent. The Rn's are excellent and the LPN's are ok. The biggest problem with this hospital is they have a floor Dr and they all have horrible bed aide manners and can barley speak English. The floors are over loaded with patient care because they don't have enough RN's and it is easy to see that is where they are trying to save money by having LPN's. The leadership is absolutely horrible which can be tracked to Administration. Go to Winchester or Hagerstown. It took two hours to be released because the floor Dr didn't care. read more

I went to the ER recently for a ruptured rotator cuff after a fall. Trust me, it hurts like it's broken. I'll start by saying they got me right in to Ex-Ray, put me in a treatment room, and that's where all the fun stopped. I got a doctor named 'Dr. Best' who turned out to be the 'Worst' because he gave me an anti-inflammatory prescription and blew me off onto my primary care doctor. I don't know if the staff didn't get their daily allowance of caffeine that morning but even the nurses and Ex-Ray tech were unfriendly. I got that 'look' they give you if they think your an idiot because I couldn't manage to put a bra on that morning. No way was that going to happen. I had to take my husband's leftover pain meds from his previous surgery to get by for the next week. They gave me a worthless sling that only caused neck problems until I quit using it. Question: If I could have used my regular doctor's office like an ER wouldn't I have gone there first? I know very well why I got treated like a drug-seeking street person-obviously because of the opioid problem in this area. I would encourage the Medical Center to further educate their staff with more intensive on-board training modules on how to tell the difference between a 'real junkie' and a regular patient. At the risk of bleeding out, I have already told my husband to take me to Winchester or Hagerstown in the future. That was how offended I was, and I'm not easily offended. I'm in some serious pain and sucked it up so- to-speak because I had no choice. Today I go to my regular doctor to see about the shoulder, so we'll see what happens. I hope the final diagnosis is more reliable and I don't need anything more done. Cross your fingers. read more

I came here after an injury during a race. I assumed I was going to be in the ER for hours. Surprisingly I was seen very quickly. The staff was awesome. Randy the ER tech was the sweetest ever. I was in and out in about a hour. read more

Was referred to ER for an absence on left shoulder. We waited 3hrs 15 mins for a PA to cut incision to release pus out of the pocket. The service here needs gets any quickier. read more

Went in for a hysteroscopy and D&C by my gynecologist, Dr. Stacey Anderson. I arrived at the Same Day surgery entrance and was greeted by a very sweet woman that let me know my doctor was a bit behind. Even though there was a long wait to get into surgery, the woman very quickly led me to a bed where I was met with an even nicer woman that took a urine sample from me and asked me all the standard questions. They took my blood pressure and temperature and then got me hooked up to an IV. I was given compression stockings and compression devices to squeeze my legs during surgery. After they were all done with that they turned on the tv and turned off my light and let me relax. They came in periodically to let me know how far along my doctor was with her surgeries before mine. I spoke with a woman about my anesthesia and she let me know I would be getting general anesthesia. I was hoping for general but she seemed more than accommodating if I HAD wanted a different type. It did take several hours longer than expected before I was finally brought in but I was glad to know she wasn't the type of surgeon to rush things. I was greeted by my anesthesiologists named Malik who introduced himself and made sure I consented to everything. They carted me off for one last bathroom break and when I got back into my bed Malik gave me something in my iv to calm me. Then I was pushed into the operating room and scooted onto the operating table and by then I was pretty loopy. I was given an oxygen mask from Malik and asked to take deep breathes and then he told me I would be breathing in the anesthesia. I took a few breathes and heard some buzzing and then I was out like tv. Next thing I knew it felt like I was being switched back on and I could hear voices and it took a minute to open my eyes. Kind of like when you know you're dreaming and you force yourself awake. A woman almost immediately had a heating pad on my stomach for the mild stomach cramps I had. She answered any questions I had and I had a lot haha the anesthesia made me very talkative. I was wheeled back into the room where I was before and she got me Coca Cola! I love my cola so I was happy. She gave me my phone and let me know my ride was on his way and would give me a call. Once he arrived she helped me get dressed and ready to leave. I was escorted out with my post surgery papers and went home. Only thing I've felt so far was a very minor pain when I first peed, from the catheter, I'm guessing. It's only my second day home and I've had no cramping at all since I left the hospital so my doctor must have done a very good job. Overall, it was a very good experience for me and I had a really good team made of nurses, my anesthesiologist, and my doctor. read more

When I first moved here from a major city six years ago, I was not impressed with City Hospital. Since that time, however, they have made great strides. I've been in for two outpatient surgeries, been in the ER twice as a patient and several times w/ family members, and had a two week stay as a patient. With all these experiences the staff has been wonderful and the facilities have continued to get much better. The last time I was there was w/ my mom in the ER -- the new facilities are great and staff made sure I got where I needed to be. read more

This only goes to Kimberly at the front desk and the charge nurse working the night of March 7, 2016 around 9PM. Kimberly was rude, very unprofessional and needs customer service classes among other things. The Charge Nurse, who I did not get her name,was also rude, unprofessional and needs to go to nursing school for nurses who do not like their jobs! The rest of the employees involved with the ER visit , the sweet guy in the ER lobby wearing the uniform, the nurse, Chuck and Doctors Mongold(?) and Cincinnati were kind & compassionate. read more

If you have to come to this hospital, do not let Lyndy the PA even touch you. She is snotty, and she will not treat you with any respect. I think she enjoys having what little power she has over people. She also does not have a clue about emergency medicine. My family and I aren't sure how she got a license. She also picked the wrong career if she likes treating people like she does. read more

I worked in hospitals for 10 years and know what to look for, what to expect. For my wife's surgery, the staff was very caring and service was efficient. I liked that comfort is considered a part of the healing process. Complaints about the food are warranted, but the medical care is recommended. read more
