We love coming here. It is in the middle of nowhere. Yet it is quaint and delightful. The theatre…read moreonly holds about 60 people so you get to be up close to the performers. You can see and hear everything perfectly. The young actors and actresses are so passionate about their work. We love watching them perform. You can tell they work hard at developing their characters. Every show we have seen has been terrific. And the tickets are only $26 each. It is a good deal. And the entertainment is splendid.

The staff was friendly and helpful. The bathrooms were exceptionally clean. The grounds are gorgeous, plenty to look at and walk around as you wait for the show. Whitney Center for the Arts is awesome, affectionately known as "The Whit." And let me tell you,…read morethe Whit is "happening." They've got everything. Visual Arts, 2 Galleries, each gallery has a new show every month. They've got musical concerts of all genres. Additionally, they have their staple events such as Cabaret @the Whit, Opera Notte @the Whit, Classical Music Series @the Whit, live Comedy @the Whit, Theatrical performances, etc. They also have a wonderful discussion series: Talking Books @the Whit and Talking Arts @the Whit. Depending upon the performance, such as Cabaret, which is set up in a "Bistro" Setting, where you can order delicious light apps and beer and wine at a very reasonable prices. The Whit, also host First Fridays Artswalks' Afterparty; and now they will be hosting the official Afterparty of the Third Thursdays of PIttsfield. It is a non-profit organization, and they do lot of community work, as well. Go check it out, and sign up for their event update so you don't miss out on a great events. I am also a frequent visitor of the gift shop, and I even took a dance class when I was younger. Most recently, I came for an outdoor dance performed by two different dance teams that had collaborated on Irish Step-dancing pieces. I was told that I would appreciate the performance because I have some Irish in my blood, not sure how that works, but I really did enjoy it! The dancers worked so well together. They glided across the stage, and they looked so happy to be there. There was one dancer in particular who really seemed like there was nowhere he would rather be. I also came for a tap dancing performance and I was in awe of all the performers who clearly put 110% into their performance. I was beyond happy with both experiences, and I've always greatly appreciated the talent and effort of all performers.

This is the worst experience I've ever had at a theater. We couldn't understand a word said by most of the actors. There were two or three who were able to project and enunciate, but all of the others were completely inaudible. A professional company could have miked them properly. It completely ruined the experience for my two friends of mine (one left during the intermission. The other two of us had seen it before so at least had some notion of what was going on.) During the intermission I complained and they offered us nothing, no help, no audio enhancement, change of seats, partial or full refund, nothing. It turned out there *were* audio enhancement headsets that my friend was able to find, but these weren't mentioned to me. I was able to rush to get one, but it simply made the poor sound quality louder, tho no more intelligible. When I wrote to the "Audience Engagement Manager" (who I had to rustle up myself, because, again, the staff who I complained to were unhelpful and in fact told me that there was NOBODY I could speak to at the theater, either while I was there or even afterwards), she offered nothing. When pressed, repeatedly, she offered to give me a description of the "options" for sound improvement for next season. Why would I go back next season??

Double Edge shows are an insane and beautiful experience. They put a lot of themselves in these…read moreshows. They throw themselves in ponds! Crawl around in Rivers! Climb and perform from trees! in the cold! In the rain! In the heat! Do ecstatic meditative dances! Puppets! dabble in some circus and gymnastics! Mythologies! Surrounded by nature! This years spectacle included a lot of animal characters... and then when they were making their animal sounds and gestures a real bird like... joined them and was singing and bopping around on the cut trees floating in the pond. It was surprising and very beautiful. Their shows are just so damn exciting and they just are seemingly unafraid. I loved both Summer spectacles that I've seen. They also collaborate with other groups and sometimes let other groups preview work on their farm. We were lucky to see the Hinterlands preview their "Will you miss me when I'm gone" piece there. If you have to travel to see them (and it's pretty worth it). Make plans for food. Do not wait until after the show. There is nothing nearby, and the restaurants might be closed once you get to Turners Falls (the next town). Eat before the show. There aren't a lot of hotels, but apparently there are a number of air bnb's around. Do yourself a favor - also buy your tickets well in advance. They sell out.

How on earth has no one reviewed Double Edge yet?!?!?…read more I have been to the last two summer show cases (The Firebird and the Odyssey) both of which were FANTASTIC! The shows run rain or shine during the summer in the evenings. Both times I've gone it's been a little drizzly, but not too bad. It's okay to bring an umbrella as long as you don't block other audience members with it. I really enjoy the fact that the summer showcases use different areas and building on the farm. The shows are very interactive and use some VERY cool tricks. The actors run and jump and climb and swing. I HIGHLY recommend going to see one of the summer showcases
