My Friend went to the Roseville, Ca location for cool sculping. She was not told of the side effects being severe as well as the pain. The paperwork they gave her was on page with no instructions, no side effect explanations, no phone number and no Dr. name on this paper. She has been trying to call them to cancel her appointments and get a refund. No one has called her back and she has been charged in full. This is obviously not ethical pactices both medically or financially. Please go elsewhere! read more

BSI has unfortunately gone downhill since it was sold by Dr. Berman a few years ago. I have received PDL for a birth mark and laser hair removal. I also had a consult for Botox injection but they never followed up with me. Dr. Chok is very conservative when it comes to laser strength so I saw no results under her care, which was frustrating. Dr. Berman used to be great. Their phone number goes straight to South Africa, and they don't know what they are doing. It's very difficult to get in touch with the local office. If you can find the same service from a different provider, I recommend going elsewhere. The only positive is that they do take insurance. Getting them to follow up is impossible though - you need to keep calling and stay on top of them. read more

Amazing place! Dr. Kojouri and staff are great! I came in here to do the eyebrow transplant surgery a little over a week ago. They take care of you from the start. I had many questions and they were patient with me. I only regret not coming here sooner. I had thought about this surgery for so long but was scared to do it. You start off with a consultation with Linda who is amazing! She will coordinate, answer and help with payments. They have financing options, just ask them and they'll help you out. After that you will meet with Dr. Kojouri so he can see your brows and see what you want to have. He'll answer all your questions and you will feel at ease with him. He is easy to talk to Doctor who will make you feel like you are old friends. Dr. Kojouri is a master at eyebrows!!! Don't waste your money on microblading or any of that other stuff when you can get eyebrow transplant that is permanent and looks amazing! They will explain everything, the surgery, after care, and when your new brows will appear. On surgery day you will meet the staff that helps Dr. Kojouri during surgery and they are lovely people! They make you feel comfortable and at ease. The pain from surgery is minimal. The worst of it is the injections for numbing. I was so mad at myself when it was all done for not doing this earlier. They even ordered me lunch and made sure I got on my ride to leave safely. You will be checked on in the following days by them to make sure you are okay. After surgery you will also have Linda's and Dr. Kojouri's contact information in case anything happens or if you have questions / concerns. Don't plan on anything the first couple days after surgery, there will be brusing and swelling so you'll want to take it easy. The location itself is easy to find, there's parking and looks very clean. Everyone else working here looks friendly and you will feel comfortable here. If you are thinking about getting any of their services done, do it! You will not regret it. read more

I am writing this review to warn others about the unprofessional behavior at Berman Skin Institute and Dr Kourosh Kojouri specifically at the Los Altos location. I visited this doctor for an out of pocket cosmetic treatment for spider veins under my eyes on 12/30/25 with a follow up visit on 2/2/26. The initial treatment was unsuccessful but I did agree to a 2nd try on 2/3/26. Dr. Kojouri became insulting and verbally abusive (called me disrespectful) and walked out of the room without performing the procedure. Per the State of California Medical Board this was abandonment of care (I have filed an official complaint with this state board). Even worse I was charged out of pocket for this unpleasant experience. I filed a dispute with my credit card company (Citibank) and the dispute was ruled in my favor. After questioning the details of this transaction I was told that the Berman Skin Institute did not refund my money; the adjustment was from the credit card company itself. It is disillusioning that a respected medical practice acts in this unprofessional manner and does not take financial responsibility. I advise others to avoid Berman Skin Institute and Dr. Kojouri for the above stated reasons. read more

Very bad experience. They said that I dont have to pay anything here and only through my insurance even after repeatedly asking them. Will never recommend this place. They said we had signed on an agreement to my insurance agent and said I had to pay. I have no problem in paying as according to my insurance I was supposed to pay and I paid but giving misinformation ( I told I would only be visiting if it's completely covered underinsurance or I do not have to pay through them but through my insurance and they said I dont have to pay anything which I confirmed before and after the treatment. Came back for "free" touch-up, charged $250 for "materials" that were never mentioned. Still no results. Total scam. Avoid this place. At this point, I'm out $1,750, my tattoo is still there, and I feel deceived and taken advantage of. This business misrepresents its services, overcharges clients, and hides extra fees. The one star for my review is because of the wonderful Physician Assistant who helped undo the damage from a subcision procedue procedure gone wrong in 2025; I truly am grateful for her professionalism and kindness. However, a word of warning for anyone seeking a procedure at the Berman Skin Institute in Los Altos (and I see other reviews verify my experience): 1) the staff does not inform patients of given risks associated with skin procedures; in my case, the doctor never informed me of the possibility of permanent nerve damage. 2) The staff does not communicate basic information related to the procedure such as type of anesthesia administered and provides incorrect information about the anesthesia effects. 3) The doctor assigned to the procedure is advertised only as a hair transplant specialist, not as a skincare specialist. 4) Berman Skin Institute requires payment in entirety before a procedure, signaling the importance of profit over patient care. 5) If things go wrong, there is no refund of the procedure's costs, though they will provide treatment to try to reverse damage. I completely accept responsibility for not undertaking due diligence on the Institute, the procedure and the doctor, but I cannot believe this place is in business when they do not provide basic medical information prior to/during or post-op. read more

One week ago, I had my hair transplant procedure done at the Berman Skin Institute and while it's something I had thought about for a very long time my one regret is that I did not have it done sooner. From the initial consultation through to the follow-up calls I could not be happier with the way the procedure went. The entire staff were amazing and made the whole process smooth and seamless. They explained what was happening every step of the way and made sure I was comfortable throughout the whole procedure. The Artas Robotic was used for some of the procedure, which was so great. Do not recommend for skin issues. My skin was decent but I was looking for recommendations to improve certain skin concerns. The doctor I saw answered my questions with answers I could have found on Google and didn't ask me any questions about my skin type/skin reactions/etc. I was out within 15 minutes. She sent me to get 2 prescriptions and me being naive, I did. My skin actually got much WORSE, and I stopped using them completely after a few weeks. I'm just trying to get my skin in the state it was originally in. Not only did I have to pay way more than expected for the prescriptions, but I just found out my 15 minute appointment is insanely expensive as they billed me over a month after my appointment. read more

They charged my insurance with duplicate claims a year ago causing me to have to pay out of network. I have called them literally at least 50 times in the past year explaining their error and that they need to fix it or at least refund me in the meantime since it's their error. They say there's no error or say they will escalate the issue and get back to me but they never do. And will not give me my money back. They charged my card electronically without even giving me a bill which if they had I could've shown them immediately that the charge was wrong. They don't even keep track of their claims because now they're saying they only submitted one. I've asked them to fix the claim so I can see on my insurance side there's 3 submissions, they're just all wrong. Their billing/insurance department is completely unhelpful. My insurance has also tried to call them and it is still not resolved. I had been going here for close to a year and nothing bad to say about the doctors but the practice overall lost me as a customer after this billing issue and them not resolving their own mistakes that cost me $150. read more

I went to get my baby seen for a bump near her eye. Front staff was friendly and Dr Chiang spent a good amount of time with us. Dr Chiang told us it was nothing and just a dermoid cyst and treatment could wait. He said it was just inflammed and the size would reduce in sometime. However, the diagnosis was very off. We took other 3 other opinions and all said it was infantile hemangioma as soon as they saw it; and needed medication soon to treat. I am glad we went ahead and took a second opinion. Berman Skin Institute - Second season - Dermatologists Near Me - Los Altos, California

I went to the Berman Skin Institute for Medical Extractions on August 16. The former person they had doing extractions was no longer there, so I decided to take a gamble on one of the new people they hired. I wish I had not done that. I didn't have a lot to extract since I have a good skincare regimen. I had a couple small milia on my cheek, which were successfully extracted. And I had two tiny milia-like cysts on my right jaw line. These extractions were fails! I woke up to one being infected the next day - and to no change in the other one. I requested a dermatology appointment a couple weeks later to get some help with the infected cyst that happened due to the failed extraction. Instead of giving me an appointment with a dermatologist, they booked me an appointment with a physician's assistant they use for all kinds of appointments. She did not listen to me during the visit - and told me to come in for a cortisone injection. I live far from the Los Altos Office, so ended up going in for a Cortisone injection at the Roseville location. The nurse I saw there lacked compassion - and told me the physician's assistant wrote in her notes that I had a cyst on my lip. That concerns me greatly because no one is checking medical notes for accuracy! (Not sure if they're using AI-generated notes or something...but errors like that should not happen!) Anyhow, I could not get the corisone injection I went in for because the cyst was too infected. So, instead, I got a course of antibiotics, which I try not to take because of digestive issues and autoimmune conditions. The infection went away, but the anitbiotic kicked off an autoimmune flare. Also, the nurse at the Roseville location told me I could pick up my prescription at the CVS in the local Target. It turns out she ordered the prescription to the Alameda, CA CVS. Luckily, The CVS in the Roseville Target was able to fill my prescription before they closed that day. Now I am stuck with serious post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. I wish I had never gone in for the medical extractions. In my opinion, that person does not know what they are doing. _______________ On another matter, I have had a couple sessions of sclerotherapy done at Berman Skin Clinic. The person who did those sessions is no longer there either. When I called to make an appointment for a third session, I was put on hold for a while so the person I was talking to could locate someone else who could do the sclerotherapy. I booked an appointment for the physican's assistant (mentioned above) to do it, but ended up canceling. I want someone who is an expert in sclerotherapy to do my injections; not a PA who does a little bit of everything! read more

Terrible clinic with careless practitioners. I came here for a laser procedure and instead left with a burn the size of a quarter. The nurse kept having trouble with the settings of the laser machine. How can you not test it before using it on someone and inflicting a burn on them ??? Even after the burn, i kept asking her if it was going to take a turn for the worse. She said she hoped not. So i went home and slowly started seeing the mark turning darker, almost black. I kept calling them asking them what to do, and they kept saying she would call me back when she was free, which took a long time. Finally she told me to come back to the clinic, looked at it, confirmed it was a burn, put some ointment on it, and told me that it might resolve in a few months if i put hydroquinone on it twice a day, but there was no guarantee of it going away completely :(. I keep thinking about how life can turn for the worse in a second. read more

He's a very experienced and kind physician who patiently answers questions--putting our minds at ease about various concerns from our ezcema to our family history of melanoma. Had to call again to connect to a different person. Her tone was extremely rude and spoke over me multiple times before I could finish describing only for her to ask the same info that she wasn't bother to listen to in the first place. Every time I go to get extractions/facials Anna is the one to go to! I started seeing her last year for my congested skin and she was able to make my bumpy skin look smooth for the first time in ages. :') Not to mention with her treatment the scars didn't last long and my skin recovered quicker than normal. Beauty is pain but going to Anna to extract everything is worth it. Not to mention if excellent customer service was a person, Anna is the embodiment of that! She is so nice, super easy to talk to, and gets the job done with excellent results. I've never had so many people compliment my skin before and I owe it to her. I had laser hair removal on back over 10 years ago at the Berman Institute. I went 4 separate times following their instructions. My back hair grew back every time. When I pointed this out to Steve Burman, he said my hair is much less dense and softer than before. I was like, "but I still have a ton of back hair!" He took zero accountability. They filed a claim wrong to our health insurance company, I got all the information from the insurance agency left several voicemails for Shelly Harmon who is in-charge of billing and never heard back from her, finally heard back from her to threaten me that they would send the claim to the collection agency. The doctors are ok but the practice has very predatory accounting practices and I would not recommend them. read more

Nurse Thao is the best! I've been seen multiple times for laser hair removal and I'm loving the results! I should have done this years ago. My unwanted hair is so much lighter, thinner and definitely more sparse. I don't have to shave nearly as much as I used to. Nurse Thao is so thorough. She gives lots of information about what to do before and after the procedure. The procedure itself is way less painful than I thought it would be. I'm a big baby and I was nervous. Nurse Thao was super reassuring and gave lots of tips to make it more comfortable. She's so kind and very professional. I will definitely keep coming back! read more
