This place is an absolute scam, they will take thousands of dollars for their packages and then they will last minute cancel your appointments the day of and when you need to reschedule they will only have openings a month from your original appointment. They do not call or care about your concerns as long as they get your money. I've been doing IPL for many years. Yesterday got an IPL treatment done here and it completely burned my forehead and side of face. I've never had this result before from IPL (see photo). I called the office in panic the day after who is calling this as just micro-crusting without any acknowledgement of this horrendous outcome or wanting to correct. I can understand for small pigments/freckles but this dark brown large thing on my forehead is not microcrusting. I've been working with LaserAway for several years at their Palo Alto clinic in an effort to get a tattoo removed. I bought a package of 10 sessions for $1,000.00+ that they assured would remove my quarter-sized tattoo. Whenever you're doing anything medical to your body, you want to feel safe and supported - LaserAway is not the place to experience that. I've had several negative experience but will share only the most recent. One time, I arrived ~20-minutes early and was sitting in their waiting room. In the meantime, the manager of the Palo Alto location sat next and proceeded to try and upsell and hard sell me other LaserAway packages I had no interest in. While she did that, the front desk woman, Nicole, proceeded to say aloud to anyone who would listen that she thought the DJ LaserAway hired to perform on their streaming channel (streaming in the waiting room) was a loser because she took payments in treatments instead of money. The final incident happened when they called me earlier in the week and asked if they could push my appointment back. I agreed. After confirming from their end several times over text, email and phone calls that my appointment was indeed on this date at this time, I showed up. The front desk woman told me that their entire system was down and that it would take ~5-minutes. Then the manager (the one who had previously tried to hard sell me) came out and said it would be ~25-minutes. I asked about the discrepancy in time and mentioned that there always seemed to be an issue whenever I came to their clinic. At this point, the manager got defensive and began over-explaining about how the last shut-down happened on New Year's Eve and that it was resolved. I said it's not just about this time, that there's an issue every time I come. She cocked her head and said, "Oh some sort of issue?" I said, someone called and asked to push back the time of my appointment today, "Oh someone called you this morning and did that?" I told her not this morning, but earlier in the week. She then began to repeat everything I was saying back to me in a sarcastic tone. It was uncomfortable and completely inappropriate given I was about to experience a vulnerable medical procedure (lasers on my skin). She then turned on her heel and said, "Thank you for your kindness and patience" in a tone dripping with sarcasm, disregard and disrespect. At this point I felt unsafe, unwelcome and totally uncomfortable. I removed myself from the clinic and proceeded to call their customer service line to report the incident. One person said, "The system is down, can you call back later?" So I called again later and another person said, "Oh someone will call you back in 2-3 hours." After 3 days, I'd heard nothing. So I sent an email to every LaserAway alias I could find briefly explaining the issue in 4-5 sentences. I received a call 2-hours later. This person asked if I had a question about my package. This person hadn't even read my email. When I spent 15-minutes describing what I'd been through she said, "Oh I can't help with you that but I'll email someone who can. But there's only 2 people working on the customer service team so it will probably take 2-3 days for them to get back to you." 3 days later I received a call from Mandy, who said she works in customer support. She knew nothing about my situation, so I explained it once more. At this point I told her I would like a refund of the remaining $400.00 in my package because I no longer felt safe going to LaserAway. She told me she could convert it into another service or that I could give it as a gift card to friends or family, assuring me that the situation wouldn't happen again. I told her, it's been 6-times with 6-different encounters, why would a seventh be any different? She informed me that it wasn't in LaserAway's policies to give refunds after 1-year regardless of the circumstances, that they have to be fair to all of their clients. So I asked her, "Does this happen to all of your clients?" She said no. I responded, so nothing I've told you makes you believe I am warranted a refund of $400.00 at best? She said, "We're a big company. We have policies. I'm trying to work with you, you're just not hearing what you want to hear." I told her that was a shame and I was extremely disappointed with how LaserAway treats people and how her customer "support" felt like anything but. I informed her that if that was the best she could offer then I had to get going. She scoffed while saying, "Thank you so much, have a great day!" And hung up. I never got my refund. She helped me schedule my first appointment, and I was seen the following day. I used this center as a last-moment change. This is a perfect example of how a bad customer experience does a 180* turn into a great customer experience. I bought into LaserAway on the recommendation of two friends who are hairless wonders (we call them the dolphins). Anyhow, what is money if you waste it all on waxing, right? So $3,500 later I bought a crazy package and started my first treatment in Burlingame (near me; convenient). First time session wasn't painful, just some prickling. I have heard all the stories: it gets painful more and more each time you go. Second session (still in Burlingame) - WOW. I have given birth. I have been through all the things. This almost broke me. Second session. I literally had to ask her to stop 8-10 times and she kept making snide comments about how sensitive I am. Super rude. I was hesitant to even come back. Was ready to call it quits. Third appointment was booked for Dec 23rd - same location (clearly, I need mental help, lol). I get a text the morning of "Your appointment has been cancelled, call this 800# to reschedule" DAFUQ? I call, it's a corporate call center not the office. She says it looks like they don't have anyone working today, they're closed and the next appt is in Feb. Well what the french toast am I to do with that?? I book these things according to my cycle and the 6 week time frame per their notes! Dang! So the lady is great and helps book me for Palo Alto right away. I go down there - which is the location my two friends used BTW, and sure enough, it's clean, easy to find, and they're friendly. So I get this one nurse, she's friendly, talkative (not in a bad way) and super knowledgeable. She was patient and kind and TBH the session was only slightly more painful than the first session. Holy hell, what a nightmare. $4k down the drain for laser hair removal and zero difference whatsoever. The customer service was incredibly rude and unhelpful when I called to bring this up. And they have the nerve to keep calling me asking me to waste more of my money on them. I wouldn't wish this company on my worst enemy. When I have more time on my hands I plan to expose this scam at a larger scale, but this review will have to do for now. 17 Laser hair removal sessions later (2 years of time) I'm disheartened that I have to write this. I really wanted it to work. Hopefully my experience can help you make a more informed decision so I'll provide tips as well: LaserAway pros: They often have deals and discounts. Grouping multiple areas get better rates. Front desk was friendly and accommodating. Vanessa and Elizabeth are great. LaserAway Cons: It didn't work. I have just as much hair as 2 years ago. My main problems stemmed from the technicians working the lasers and corporate/customer service. Their marketing strategy is to get 5 star reviews from new customers while they are hopeful and before they know their true results. It can be exciting to see hair falling out after a session but you won't know if you got lasting results until 8-20 sessions (at which point LaserAway avoids asking for reviews for obvious reasons. I would disregard any reviews here that are only in their 1st - 5th session) Be aware that even if their laser treatments seem successful, LA mentions that hair can regrow back at any time especially due to hormones (pregnancy) or reactivated follicles. Their offering of "maintenance sessions" shows that this isn't a permanent solution. If it doesn't work at all for you they will say things like "it's reduction not removal", "everyone is created different" and "results are not guaranteed". Using LA is literally gambling thousands of dollars due to their "no refund" policy. You will never see your money again but more than likely will see unwanted hair again. Read their website disclaimers. Laser technicians may be unprofessional and you will have someone different looking at you every session. Some will make things awkward for you. Most that I met only had 3 months experience. More on technician immaturity: Expect to be shamed if you cut yourself while shaving because they will freak out and accuse you of having an STD. I can only imagine how poorly they behave in front of someone who actually does have one (It is logical that you should not go if you have an STD, but they should be tactful when addressing it). The constant rotation of technicians means that it's more difficult for them to keep track of your individual progress and needs. You may feel frustrated restating the same request each session. They also don't check your progress because you come in already shaved and they don't care to ask so they won't be adjusting settings to your specific needs until it's too late. Their care instructions are not inclusive for non-white women. For example, they will tell you to avoid tanning for 2 weeks, but that doesn't take into consideration if you are olive complexion like me and stay tan for months. They won't take you until your tan has receded and you'll end up going in just to be rescheduled. I hid my skin from the sun for 2 years to stay on schedule. You will have to sign a form that says it holds them free from consequences if things go very wrong. Read the agreement carefully before signing. (There is risk of permanent skin discoloration, burns, and photos without your consent) Expect pain to increase each session. They start at a low setting and move up. I have a feeling this was too weak for me. If the hair removal doesn't seem to be working, their technicians may blame you and accuse you of having a rare hormonal disease (that would be obvious because it makes you look very masculine and bearded). My PCP laughed at the absurdity when I told her that they thought I should get checked for this. read more

I went to the Laserway palo alto location for Thermage treatment (Facial laser treatment). I paid almost $3k for this treatment. As soon as the nurse started the treatment (within couple pulses), it was so painful that I started screaming. The nurse didnt' want to continue. She said she felt terrible and sorry for  and she will check with the management and see if they can just refund me the money. I said ok. I also told her that if they won't , I will continue the treatment. After 20 mins of waiting, she came back and told me its ok. The management will process it. I said great and left the appointment. However, I was still charged me the amount. When i called the manager Neda (PA location) she told me the management  service team will get back to me. They will either email me or call me. So I waited again. After two months, I still haven't heard back from anyone from the management team. I've since called Neda again and she would not give me a contact number. She kept telling me that someone will get back to me -- but it has now that months have elapsed I am very worried. I have also called the direct customer service line and every time someone said the management will get back to me. And still no one has. I've tried to contact at least over 6 different times. For a $3k treatment, this customer service is shocking.  This is a lot of money and a client is entitled to prompt responses. Please Laserway management, do the right thing, and contact your loyal customer.  I've done many other laser treatments at your different locations and I can't believe this is happening to me. Updating my review to my current visit 7/5/23. I've always had wonderful experiences at L.A. I love how LA is constantly keeping up with the demands, times and needs of their clients. The review today is for a lovely girl who welcomes the guests in the Palo Alto location. Emma was so fantastic. She warmly checked me in, maintained professionalism and listened to my needs. From that conversation, she was able to identify that the hydra facial coming to L.A this week would fit my new needs. Im a recent first time mom, trying to focus on my own self care and come back. After hormonal changes and life in general, I noticed my skin was changing a bit and needed a little more. Through this information, I felt comfortable and at ease knowing what I would need next. Fortunately, she also has a background as an esthetician, so she was able to really hone in on the inquiries I had. She set me up with my purchase and I felt no pressure at all. If anything, felt confident and eager to try this treatment. I walked in at the right time and her counterpart Kate was so darling as well. I appreciate the consideration around our conversation and her willingness to follow up. The clinic it self was clean and the staff was helpful with the service I received. However this review is strictly for the management of this place. When I was first solicited to have a treatment done at this clinic the management (lady named Kate) asked if I will be paying in full or if I would like the option to do financing with a third-party credit. I was very clear and saying that I do not want any credit and that I am fine with paying in full. I paid the service, but the following week I get a credit inquiry to my bank that a credit line was opened. I NEVER authorized this and the management took forever to get back to me as to why this happened. Kate didn't offer any solid solution and said because the credit was a third-party, they couldn't close it and I would have to do it. I went ahead and closed the account and filed an identity theft report with the FTC, then also reach out to credit bureau to ensure my credit score is not affected by this mismanagement. It was a lot to deal with & Furthermore Kate didn't offer an apology or even any solid resolution to what I had experience so she can retain me as a patient. I found this to be poor customer service & very unprofessional. Future patients should save them self a headache and go to a clinic that will respect their time & private information. Terrible experience with Laser away. From day 1 there's a phone call with a very friendly and motivated seller that gets you excited about the results you will see and all the miraculous deals they have going "for this short time." So you get out your credit card for the 8 treatment plan that is recommended for best results. Nobody looked at my hair to assess if I have the right hair type for good success before taking my money. Fast forward to a year and 8 treatments later, zero results. I did arms and legs and didn't notice a single change besides in my bank account. I voiced my complaints and Rachel brought me in to take photos of the areas and "send them to corporate." About 5 minutes after the taking of the photos Rachel comes in and says corporate sees a lot of results on my hair growth and recommends ANOTHER treatment plan but they have a "GREAT DEAL" for this. The entire meeting was once again just trying to get me to buy more more more and not about how I'm unhappy with my results from their product. After leaving frustrated another person calls me from "corporate" and just tries to sell me again on more treatment plans. Overall such a great experience so far! This is for my recent IPL treatment --- I have accumulated several horrible sun spots from over exposure to sunlight outdoors. When I inquired about this treatment through Jen, she was very responsive and informative; the turnaround rate for the process was so quick and easy! Coming in for my initial treatment I was so nervous but the lady that day (sorry I forgot your name) guided me through the process and was so gentle from beginning and end. Taylor the front desk receptionist who alternates from both the Palo Alto and the Mountain View Laseraway is absolutely amazing. She achieved what no one else could by updating my remaining laser hair removal sessions to its actually remaining back count!! The only reason I rated 5/5 stars is solely because of her!! I have been in constant communication with management from both locations and nothing was ever properly resolved. All that was ever don't was they sent me their logged accounts of all my services treatments and what was remaining in my bank. I've had to resort to requesting for the front desk to send me my updated bank Botox units count when I first book, upon appointment check-in, and again after my treatment service, and still I have yet to receive any actual formal trail from anyone from Laseraway until weeks later.. which most every other time was off count by 10-20 units each time. This is so frustrating and is beyond sucky to know you're getting jipped with in accurate unit bank loggings. It ultimately resulted in he said, she said which is why I'm now resorting to not leaving my service appts. until I've received some kind of formal trail that documents from LSAWY the remaining units left after each treatment. Taylor was the 7th person within a 1.5 years inclusive of the management team from both stores who actually did something to remedy and show a lil customer appreciation. She is the best thing at Laseraway and went above and beyond to satisfy my complaints/needs. Laseraway, you really ought to give Taylor a raise, bonus, and/or a promotion!! She's the only reason I haven't pulled my business from you guys. Get your logged tracking system together and please be more self aware on tracking the correct amount of remaining units people have after each of their arrive treatments. I had an appointment scheduled a month ago and received a text message today 1 1/2 hour before my actual appointment today saying that my appointment was canceled. I called right away to see why my appointment was canceled and was informed the nurse had called in sick. How convenient to call in sick during a holiday. As a company- don't open on holidays and commit to taking customers if your staff doesn't want to work a holiday. I've really enjoyed my experience at LA in Palo Alto so far! I wanted to give a shout-out to Kayla especially! She is kind and has great bedside manners. Kayla always has a smile and is just amazing at her job. I am getting laser hair removal and have gotten it done before, but not at LA. Let me just say-- it's almost painless here! I pretty much take a nap when I'm getting it done. And for those who say it gets more painful each session, I'm here to say that it does NOT in my experience. I'm still super comfortable each time. It could be because Kayla has great technique, but I think it's also the LA machines and technology. The laser machine blows cold air, which helps with the impact on the skin (helps with any pain). Extremely poor results. I had laser hair removal many years ago through an MD's office and remain hair free in those areas (not reduced hair, complete absence of hair). I signed my daughter up for laser hair removal of those same areas and we saw new hair growth in new areas adjacent to the treated areas. We raised this concern about her 3rd treatment in, and she's brought it up at subsequent treatments. Nothing has changed and now she's scared to finish off the treatment package as the laser treatments are causing her to have more hair, not hair reduction. By the way, they tell you it's hair removal when they want your cc #. As soon as they get your $ they then change their tune and say it's "hair reduction" not "removal". As I said I had laser hair removal done (only 3 treatments vs. my daughter was signed up for 7 or 8) and I have zero hair in those treated areas. Even now (having gone through many hormonal changes). So I'd say save your $$, don't believe their online hype, and go to a real dermatology practice. As a response to the company's response below: my daughter had had all but 1 of her treatments so what you said doesn't hold. Rebecca was at the front and she was amazing! I was (only a few minutes) running late and called her and she was reassuring for me to get to my appointment safely and that they would be waiting for me. Nurse Natalie was who did my service and she was wonderful! I have sensitive shins and she was so patient to ice my legs to numb them and have it be a painless experience. This was my first time ever at laser away and 10/10 will be coming back & brining my mom, sister and bestie. My experience was amazing from beginning to end. Katy the manager was super helpful and informative with getting me set up with my paperwork answering any questions and making sure I felt informed and supported Elisa was my nurse who made me feel so comfortable and informed throughout the whole process!
