I was referred to Dr. Sanayei by a very old friend 13 years ago. I have been going to her office for these years and have had nothing but great experiences. I used to live in Cupertino but I moved to San Leandro and finally Richmond, CA and still am happy to drive more than an hour each way to her office. I really dislike going to the dentist but Dr. Sanayei has always taken care of me. I have gone to this office to see Dr. Sanayei, for years, two years ago her and her assistant did a crown on me that had to be removed due to it being two large, it caused my teeth to move forward. at the time dr Sanayei did the second crown, she drilled, went to wait on another patient. came back and started drilled again. I haven't been able to eat on that side for at least one and a half years. Now she's says I need a root canal. I went in to discuss this with and she left the room unwilling to discuss it and walked out of the room, just said it wasn't her fault. I also have a friend with same issue as far as her teeth moving Done by the same Dr. I might also mention the last time I had a cleaning and one of her employees said a crack in my front bridge. I Went to have it repaired I saw dr. Sanayei and she said there was no crack which makes me begin to question. the hygienist is great. I would not recommend Dr. Sanayei. read more

I was replacing a front tooth cap by Wendy and when the permeant came she was I don't like it redoing with same lab still new one came in she's like don't like it going to another lab. Glued in the permanent with temporary glue because she didn't like it then Friday night it feel Out and I contacted her she said I'll be in the office Saturday from 8-2 showed up at 8:15 dental assistant glued it back on but bit into a sandwich at 2;20 oops came out in the sandwich. I immediately got in contact with Wendy office was already closed and she turned around and said can you come now? I said I'm in Gilroy. It's gonna take me 30 minutes to get there. She proceeded to tell me I'm turning around. I'll meet you at the office get there when you canand she re-glued my tooth in and I'm in fine shape right now. I've been coming here for a awhile now. Purely out of routine. It's okay. I believe the staff cares and they provide explanation where it's needed. Front desk always look overwhelmed from checking in patients, running insurances quotes, billing, and phone calls. Things feel like they're not be communicated or slipping through the cracks. Inconsistent follow through. Perhaps this is very common in dental offices or healthcare in general. I believe the doctors have good intentions, hygienist does a great job when not rushed. My pet peeve is the constant touching equipment to eye glasses and back to your mouth. I question it every time! I always feel yuck. And I can't say anything because I have my mouth wide open. When you point at the monitor, then pick up your glasses, and sticking the blue gloves over my gums. And I'm not sure how thorough the clean is in between patients; they turn us over rather quickly. Anyway.. it's all right. I haven't had major work done, but these prices are eye gouging. They've been at that location for years. I see a lot of elders and they're probably servicing a lot of the senior communities there. I don't know..I'm lukewarm about the service, basic hygiene with patients/equipment/paper/doors/lights/etc, and then the price increase for not that much better service or value. read more

The first time, dentist makes crown for my tooth, charges more $900, after that my gum get infection, they redo for my crown. The 2nd time, filling my tooth they say $125, after that they charge $145. The 3rd time, filling my tooth, I request just do on small cavity, they say $123, but they do everything and charge me $203, but the tooth is rought/not smooth, floss is cut every time I floss. I need to make my tooth smooth, they grind my tooth too much with hard hand/ not soft hand, final my tooth become thin and very sensitive and pain. read more

Beware that Wendy (the dental assistant here) is incompetent and has no idea what she's doing. She's licensed as an ASSISTANT only and should never be performing any kind of procedures by herself. She will completely mess up your teeth. I decided to get ortho done here because Dr. Sanayei was constantly trying to sell me on it by saying "it will only take 6 months!" during every single one of my regular dental visits. I trusted her and signed the paperwork to get it started, all of which had Dr. Sanayei's name on it only. Then when I went on the first day to get the braces on, I found out my ortho care would not be coming from Dr. Sanayei, but rather from Wendy. This seemed strange but again, I decided to trust them and assumed it would be fine. Big mistake. Wendy kept repeating to me that the treatment would only take 6 months. Then at the 6 month mark, my teeth had barely moved at all. I kept trusting her that it wouldn't take too much longer. Then we got to the 12 month mark and my teeth had still barely moved, all the initial problems (overbite, crooked teeth) were still there, and my teeth actually looked WORSE - there were gaps between them that didn't exist before and my midline had been pulled way too far to the left. It looked horrible. I was very disappointed and frustrated that the treatment had been going for twice as long as I was promised, and still wasn't anywhere near done. I found out that Wendy is only licensed as an assistant and should not have been performing a treatment like this on her own in the first place. I requested that Dr. Sanayei take over my treatment instead. Sanayei said that she hadn't done ortho in 15 years and that she couldn't guarantee my treatment could be finished anytime soon. This is same person who promised me "it will only take 6 months" over and over. That was a total scam to manipulate me into getting the ortho done at her office instead of elsewhere and was obviously not true. Thankfully, I found another orthodontist to take over my case and fix the horrible state that Wendy left my teeth in after an entire year of ineffective treatment. Other, more minor complaints about this office: - Dr. Sanayei recommended me for root canals every year that I went here (4 yrs total). I have never needed any root canals before in my life. This seems like it was yet another scam so she could get a kickback from the root canal referrals and sale of crowns. Other reviews on here mention her doing this to them as well. - Suzanne, the office person here, continually overcharged me for services and refused to change the charges when it was pointed out to her. She kept defending the charges and telling me I was wrong. I had to file an official complaint with the insurance company, where they investigated and determined she was indeed overcharging this whole time. My husband uses a power wheelchair and can't transfer to a dentist chair. We had such a hard time finding a dentist that could treat him because all of the chairs are bolted to the ground and the rooms are so small. This office is able to accommodate my husband in his wheelchair. The rooms and hallways are wide and the chairs can be moved out of the way. Everyone from the dentists to reception is very friendly and great at their jobs and they've always been so kind to us. We have a lot of dental work we need to do and we see so glad to find this dentist and her office! read more

If I could give this place 0 stars, I would. I went to this office the first time and thought it was great. They were very thorough and informative and brought attention to my teeth that it was a potential cavity. I asked them to wait for the next time I went in and they agreed. The second time I went in, my dental hygienist poked on my teeth (the one that had a potential cavity) and told me it was a cavity. The dentist, Dr. Sanayei, agreed that I had it as well. I went to a different doctors office to get it examined because I had it my entire life. The other doctor told me that my teeth didn't have a cavity and it was just a small stain. If I didn't go to a different doctors to get a second opinion, I would not have known that my teeth were perfectly normal and that I didn't have a cavity. They told me that I had a cavity so they can get more insurance money. read more

Please be aware and make a sure to ask them their price give you the price and have them sign on your dental plan before you become a member with them. They mislead the customers and fool the customer. All they care about is money! First, I brought them the teeth plan that different dental office gave us, and asked they estimate for my husband. They give me really good price it was under $2000, then after we become a member they give us different price which is $16000. Then they said they have free cleaning two times for a membership, I don't remember when we started our membership, so on the phone, I made a sure that it will be free cleaning , so I sent my husband, they charged another $175 for new membership and give him another plan for $1400... This time how from $16000 drop to $1400 again??? Speechless for their price model and have no idea! But I don't want to continue with them as no matter what you do you should be honest and decent. I called them to refund the $175 as they promised that this cleaning was free, but they refused and said they have to charge for the cleaning and they will refund half. And while I am still talking they just hang my phone! Thanks again your honesty and hospitality Berna Sanayei Dental Office! I think this place is can be still opened and in business, because they are just next to The Villages, the house only for retirement people. I recently went for cleaning and they ended up giving me two crowns. They are not the right size and I have been in pain for the last few weeks. I went back and finally the dentist corrected it but still a very shabby job. I'll have to go back again to see what they can do. It cost $1,200 plus. Would NOT recommend this place. We both have been seeing Dr. Sanayei for the past 10 years, because of our change in an insurance plan; in between, we had to see some other dentists. We both are extremely satisfied with her services. She is amazingly dedicated to her profession with full devotion and empathy, she is very concerned about the welfare and the needs of her patients. She always greets with a great pleasant smile. I got done my tooth # 14 dental implant just a few weeks ago, WOW, magical hands, it all went like a breeze, it feels normal since day 3. She serves seniors with passion & respect. She is loaded with great experience in her field. When other dentists refused to accept BRAND NEW DAY'S Delta Dental plan insurance since it has a $ 0 copay for the implant and Abutments, still this office came out as the winner, they do it more for the Community Service than merely as a business. Her diagnosis was so correct with a very clear explanation. Her office is spick-span clean and very well organized. office staff works with courtesy and empathy and is so prompt to help and explain the plan benefits, and then give an estimate. Dentist was friendly, but the cleaning was average at best, and I had to call them at least three times to get them to stop sending me goddamn text blasts. Also, on my last visit, I when I was taken into the room to wait for the dentist, right above the my chair was a computer screen with a list of all the patients' names and what procedures they were scheduled for. That's gotta be some kind of HIPPAA violation, right? I posted a picture, but received an email from Yelp saying my review was deleted because of privacy violations... BEWARE: Years ago this dentist examined me and said I needed a root canal. She referred me to another dentist for the root canal and wrote down the wrong tooth. After the root canal I discovered that due to her error, I had a root canal on a perfectly good tooth. Fast forward to today. I was having pain on a tooth on my upper side. I decided to give her another chance as it's just an exam. She examined me and said I MAY need a root canal on said tooth and referred me to another dentist. When I show up, they say "ok so you're here because it looks like you may need a root canal in one of your BOTTOM molar?" I said "no, it's the UPPER molar". She said it states here that it's the lower molar, number whatever. Needless to say, this dentist has now exhibited a pattern of harmful, costly and unnecessary mistakes. read more

Love this dentist! I recently had one of my wisdom teeth extracted. I was really scared because well i was having a tooth yanked out! I told them i wanted to be asleep and boy was I! I have been coming to this dentist for years, out of force of habit because I have not been able to find another dentist. Dr. is very kind, but her work is below average at best. Every single one of my fillings that I have gotten filled at her office have either worsened, deteriorated, or escalated into a root canal. I wish I was exaggerating, but I am not. I have gotten several fillings here, and within days/weeks/months, problems start to arise. The filling becomes much more severe, and then Dr. recommends a root canal. I experience severe pain and bleeding when I brush or floss my teeth. It seems very odd to me that a person would need this many root canals? I don't think she knows how to properly deal with a large filling. read more

COVID TIMES I needed to have a new crown to repair an old filling that fractured. This is a two visit procedure with 14 days between visits. The precautions taken because of the latest COVID shutdown were impressive. The office is totally sanitized with a 4 person maximum in the waiting room. Temperatures are taken as patients arrive for check in. The Office staff and all assistants were covered with PPE as would be expected due to the widely reported spread of the virus. I was reassured that the health of patients and employees is of the highest concern. The crown is in place and feels good. read more

She left my tooth unfinished. My tooth needed a root canal, she referred me to an endodontics expert. After I was done with root canal, I needed a crown and contacted her office again and her assistant Wendy told me that they will not reopen after COVID-19 closure. And this talk was at June 1st. I asked two times so far to learn if they opened or not, she didn't answer. Today I learned that they have been open since beginning of June but they didn't want to accept me as a patient to finish my tooth anyway. My observation is that they just don't care about their patients. read more

Where do I even begin? Extremely frustrated and annoyed with this dental office. If I could tell you one thing, it's that I won't be coming back here. At first I was pretty happy that this office took my dental insurance. Then after two visits I started to realize that they could give two sh*ts about you if you come in here looking to get dental work done through insurance. On both occasions I was brushed off by the dentist. The first time, I guess I should've known better, but it was a simple teeth cleaning and initial consultation. The dental hygienist had done the cleaning for me and I probably spoke to Dr. Sanayei for five minutes tops. I figured "no big deal" since I wasn't getting any work done by her that day anyway. That's fine. A few weeks later I called back to schedule a consultation for braces. I came in on a Friday and was seated in a chair after waiting about 5 minutes. The dental assistant/hygienist spoke to me for a few minutes while I waited for Dr. Sanayei. Fifteen minutes later, Dr. Sanayei came in to take a look at my teeth. After a minute, she said she needed to go get my file and view my x-rays. Who would have thought she would never come back to see me?! About ten minutes passed and one of the dental hygienist came to tell me I should go see an orthodontist and that Dr. Sanayei is done with my consultation. Not only is Dr. Sanayei rude and lacks professionalism, she really could care less about her patients unless they "seem rich enough to pay" (at least that's the impression I got). Honestly, her staff is this office's saving grace. Save yourself the trouble and time, and find another dentist who cares. read more

Her service as usual was amazing and she clearly explained each step of the procedure. I was so lucky to find Dr Sanayei and her staff because they rock! here is why, I have the two biggest chickens in my family my husband and my stepdaughter. my husband had not been to the dentist in forever (more than 10 years) and when he finally did we made the mistake of going to Plaza dental (rip off and painful, rude office staff, charged several times for canceled appointments). He was swore he was never going again. we had to find a dentist and Dr sanayei was close to my office so i brought our daughter there because she had to get a tooth pulled because it was rotting and growing on top of the new tooth. it took two visits to finally get her to let the Dr in her mouth but she was so patient and when everything was said and done she even got a brand new barbie from the doctor. they changed the way my family feels about going to the dentist and my daughter now TRUSTS the dentist. This review is for my elderly mother, whose dentures lost a front tooth on a Saturday morning. Imagine making a bunch of calls, getting only one returned call, and it's 30 seconds from our gated neighborhood. Everyone in the office was kind and helpful to Mom, she got her dentures repaired, and she said Dr. Sanayei was very kind. She will go back for their special 2 visits/year for the remaining teeth she has. When I moved from Los Altos to San Jose I needed a closer dentist. Dr. Sanayei was very close, so I joined her very reasonable 1-year program. I have had cleanings, X-rays, and fillings, and she and here staff are excellent. They tell you what they are going to do, and then they do what they say. I have been needing to go to the dentist for a while and finally got the time that I needed to be able to go. Needless to say, once I saw Dr. Sanayei's reviews on both 1800 dentist and here, I was ecstatic to be going in to see here, and was sure that I would have a good experience. So I set the appointment, 2 WEEKS ahead of time, because they didn't have a lot of availability. 2 days before the appointment I was amazed that none had called me to confirm my appointment, but I thought that maybe times had changed since I last went to the dentist. So I didn't give it much thought. The day of the appointment I called ahead, just to confirm that I would be arriving at the right time... The receptionist answered the phone and I let her know that I had an appointment scheduled for the morning and just wanted to confirm my appointment. She then mentions to me that there was an emergency that came in and they would not be able to accommodate my appointment, which was 30 mins from the time I called. She goes on to tell me that they do have a 3 o clock open (5 hour difference) and she would be happy to re schedule me to come in then. I paused, mostly to gather myself as I was extremely disappointed, and she asked if that would be ok. All I could say was "No, thats not ok. Thank You." I completely understand that emergencies happen, but what upset me the most was that no one even had the common courtesy to call me and let me know that they would have to reschedule my appointment. If I had not called ahead of time and had just walked into the office, what would they have done. And believe me, they are very lucky that I didn't!! I have nothing against the doctor herself, because I never met her, but I would definitely say that the way that the office is being run, or whoever is running it, is very unprofessional. It was some of the most unprofessional behavior that I have seen from such a prestigious profession in a while. I would definitely recommend the doctor to re evaluate the office staff because they do reflect on the practice, and no matter how good of a doctor you are.. your front staff are the face of your practice!! read more

After getting a second and third opinion I ended up going to a non hmo delta dentist as I have some extensive dental work to be done and did not feel I was given enough information to feel comfortable about proceeding with their proposed treatment..
