I have always struggled with dentists who have talked down to me (I have a lot of fillings because I did not have the best hygiene as a kid), but Dr. Tuong-Oanh Nguyen's entire approach to her work has been so refreshing. She always makes me feel at ease, takes the time to explain treatment options, and is great at building rapport. I appreciate that she also lets me know when I am doing well because it helps motivate me to continue focusing on my dental health. I have never had to wait more than 5 minutes after checking in to be escorted to my room. All of the staff is extremely kind and are always willing to answer questions. I have been thinking about switching dentists recently and was recommended Kims Dental Center. I'm extremely happy that I decided to come in. First of all, everyone was very friendly, professional, and accomodating. The guy at the front desk was very patient with me and was able to adresss all of my concerns. I originally only came in to get a cleaning since I didn't have insurance. However, after Dr Nguyen pointed out some cavities that I wasn't aware of, I decided to get fillings as well. Dr Nguyen was extremely kind and explained everything to me in a way that was very easy to understand. I was pleasantly surprised when I was told what the bill would be. I've been a patient with Dr. Nguyen for around 6 years now and I have nothing but positive feedback about her. She is an amazing and kind dentist. Even though I moved away from the SJ area, I still don't mind traveling to her office when I have an appointment. I have even recommended my friends and colleagues to Dr. Nguyen. I really don't want to find another dentist but given my experiences with the reception staff, I'm rethinking my decision. The 3-star review is for the reception staff - but only the lady that's usually there (I think it's Rosa). She has always been unpleasant to interact with especially over the phone. Maybe it's her customer service behavior? Haha All the times, I would call or text to reschedule an appointment she gave off the impression that they are doing me a favor by letting me be a patient there which is hilarious. There are many dentists that accept my insurance :) During Covid times, shortly after people could cautiously see a dentist , the reception staff called me and insisted I book an appointment. And when I asked if it was safe, they laughed. Which was definitely not a laughing matter at the time since seeing a dentist is an unhygienic and scary thing to do during Covid. When they text to confirm an appointment, they don't even offer an option to reschedule or cancel. You have to call the front desk and pray that you don't get the mean reception lady. Fortunately you can always reschedule to another time (begrudgingly). I've had pleasant interactions with the young man at reception and also over the phone. Dr. Nguyen is awesome and I chose to put up with Rosa because of Dr.Nguyen's great work. It's unfortunate that Dr.Nguyen's staff doesn't provide the excellent customer service and kindness that she does. It gives off a terrible first impression of her office. read more

My overall experience was beyond what I was expecting. All of the staff were extremely friendly and professional. I came in for a checkup and deep cleaning. Timmy was very informative and answered any questions and concerns that I had. If Timmy wasn't able to answer it, Dr Kim was able to explain everything in simple terms that were easy to understand . I was looking for a dentist in San Francisco for the longest time but it was very difficult since many of my close friends didn't have any dentist available. A family friend suggested we go to Kim Dental Center for my treatment and it was probably one of the best decisions I have ever made for my teeth. The appointments were super fast, pain free and the location is very nice, especially the bathroom decor. I was surprised to see my cavities filled with white filling instead of black since I've always had black filling my entire life. I came in recently for a cleaning and Dr. Oanh did a great job! She explained the x-rays to me in great detail, which I found very helpful. Unfortunately, I had some cavities, but she was able to book me within two days to get them filled. The procedure was painless and she made sure that I was okay every step of the way. She also called me later that day to follow up on how I was doing. I've never had such a personable experience at any other dental office. Aside from the wonderful staff, the office is beautifully decorated. I love the natural lighting that comes into the waiting room and the decor is lovely. At the risk of being like everyone else, I feel compelled to offer another glowing review as a way to say thank you not only to Dr. Nguyen herself, but to everyone whose review right here led me to Kim Dental Center. If you think it's easy to find a dentist/endodontist on Thanksgiving weekend, you are wrong-- lucky me Dr. Nguyen herself was in the office and answered her phone. When she heard I was in tremendous pain, she offered to meet with me at my convenience. I was quite puzzled by my symptoms following another dentist's putting in a crown and frankly, missing the boat entirely as to why I had been in so much pain for going on 3 weeks. Dr. Nguyen painstakingly assessed the pain level of each tooth in the affected area and took precise x-rays to confirm exactly where the problem was. I was so appreciative and relieved and she sent me home with an antibiotic and some pain medication with an appointment to have root canal after the Thanksgiving holiday. This place opened a month or so ago, and it's looking nice! The waiting room is clean and neatly furnished-the wooden floor is clean, smooth, touching to the eye. The 12 pictures hanging on the wall are a nice aesthetic. Nice couches too. Even the bathroom is very well done-I felt like I was at home because of how well it was decorated! It's hard not to find a dental center as nicely furnished and clean as this-adds a homey, comforting touch. The receptionist is very nice too! Helpful and sweet, I enjoyed her presence and words. The dentists and assistants there are very nice and hospitable. Dr. Tuong Oanh is a kind, and polite doctor who'll make the effort to talk to you about your day. You can ask her a question and she'll answer it with flying colors! Ms. Rosa is a very nice assistant too! She's kind, and it's sort of fun to be in the dental room with her. The other day I had a broken back tooth, so painful and sensitive to even just breathing in air. The pain was shooting up to my head. I can take any kind of pain but tooth pain! Called my dentist, he was fully booked for the pre Christmas, end of the year rush. My coworker recommended Dr. Nguyen at Kim Dental Center. I checked it out on Yelp and saw all positive reviews so I called them. The office was closed but the doctor was willing to come in to see me that evening. Dr. Nguyen did an emergency treatment on my tooth so that I can be comfortable and come back another day for root canal. That night, I felt very little discomfort and was able to sleep. I'm thankful for Dr. Nguyen's kindness for seeing me on her day off. I also appreciate her in-depth explanations on treatment options, pros and cons for each option. I dread having a root canal but feel comfortable coming back for it. Overall, I'm truly impressed with the treatment I've received that I consider switching dentist for the coming year. Most of the reviews I read mentioned that this office is very nice. I can only add that we all dread going to the dentist, but this Kim Dental office has the atmosphere of an upscale spa. I was referred by a family friend who had suggested that Kim was the best and least expensive dentist in town. Kim had followed up with me to make an appointment and was very accommodating because I could only do weekends. The wait in the waiting room was not long at all and on the first appointment I had with Kim, she immediately got to work. I have gotten deep cleanings and fillings from Kim and all appointments have been a great! I have not had any issues with my teeth after the treatments. The office when you walk in is absolutely amazing, it's not your typical boring-looking wait room with a bunch of chairs in a miserable, cold room. Kim Dental Center's wait room literally feels like a rich person's living room with couches, coffee tables that give off a modern feel, a couple of purposefully chosen paintings hanging on the walls, plants, sleek colors, beautiful wooden flooring, and the environment feels a lot more welcoming than most offices. The two ladies at the front desk (Cindy and Diana when I was there) were super friendly and easy to talk to, and same with Rosa who took my x-rays. Dr. Tuong Oanh gave me fillings that day and she was really careful to not cause any pain or discomfort and it was a pleasant experience. The bathrooms are no different. Beautiful flooring, decoration, lighting, and is well scented.
