I really liked Dr. Viera but he has since retired. He was conservative in his treatment and honest. Unfortunately I have had to move on from this dental practice. In the past few years, there have been multiple dentists, many seem not to stay too long, a revolving door. I also just feel it wasn't a fit for me personally as it's very corporate now. I miss seeing the same dentist and building that relationship over many years. Prior to Plaza Dental, I saw a dentist for over 25 years. Also I am disappointed that when I went to my new dentist, the new dentist said that the three crowns they installed were aggressive treatments and that they may have been able to refill the cavity rather than opt for an expensive crown, costing me thousands even with insurance. Lydia was my favorite hygienist and once she was gone, I had painful cleanings. I knew it wasn't me because when I went somewhere else, it was not painful at all. This place is under new ownership as of 2022. It has since gone downhill dramatically. In fact, the new dentists are incompetent. They damaged my significant other's tooth and had to go another dentist to get it fixed. To make the matter worse we found out the previous work wasn't even necessary. Since Dr Vierra sold the business I have had three exams and three different dentists. A year ago last January, Dr Jahini said I needed two crown in adjacent teeth at a cost of several thousand dollars. Now I wish that I had a second opinion from another dentist although Dr Jahini was a very skilled dentist. She is not at this office one year later. This last January I was examined by a new dentist at this office and was told that I need a wisdom tooth extracted. This caused me much anxiety since I am 89 years old and this would be a major surgery for a person my age. I decided to go for a second option to someone that owned their practice and has been practicing dentistry for at least 10 years. This dentist recommended against having the tooth extracted. I am giving this office three stars since any diagnosis in health sciences has some judgement involved. However, since this office has a revolving door of dentists and dental technicians, I cannot recommend this dental practice to anyone. All I have to say is since Dr Vierra has left this practice has gone down hill. I was a patient here since their office was on capital and silver creek! 2/3 children were going to the "new" location, but it isn't really kid friendly so we opted for a pediatric dentist instead. Anyway, I will say since Dr Vierra has left the business I have seen great hygienist leave and at least 2 new dentists. Only pros I can provide from the last year: Dr Jahani who I was expecting to see on my most recent visit is especially nice, conversational, understanding and patient. The front desk staff is always friendly, welcoming and helpful. Cons: I don't recall exactly when but my daughters insurance was somehow not charged appropriately from years back and they were trying to charge me for something that wasn't submitted to the right insurance! Thankfully the then business manager/front desk was able to figure it out. Had a cleaning appointment and it wasn't with my "usual " hygienist someone I had never seen. I did not object. Her cleaning was so fast. Not comfortable. I just pushed through. I don't usually like to complain I understand cleanings are not intended to be relaxing. Felt rushed as the Dr walks in she ends the cleaning. Dentist comes in and it's not Dr Jahani. No intro. Gives a quick exam, takes a few pictures ,gives me feedback and walks out. Hygienist finishes with fluoride when I usually get foam because the other options upset my stomach. Instead I got a sticky paste plastered all over my mouth and told not to eat or drink for 30 minutes. I had to keep spitting to prevent swallowing any of that yuck! Oh here is an expired coupon to buy mouth wash for your sensitive crown (from this office in 2023) . To end my long review TODAY a few days after my cleaning I'm looking closely at my teeth and I notice a gap/possibly chipped between my two lower teeth that the hygienist kept scraping during the cleaning. I also notice my front two top teeth have surface scratches that look like cracks right down the middle that were not there before !! After 25 years I had to leave. Since Dr. Vierra retired nothing is the same.. except Lydia is still the best! However, my experience with Dr. Jahini left me with such a horrible dental experience. Two crowns were needed. During the dental work I was in so much pain, I had never experienced such roughness with the equipment as well. With all the equipment in my mouth she kept going even though I was trying to tell her I was in pain. After 3 hours it was done I was so angry I just wanted to run out. That evening the temp fell out, I went back in to get another temp and while there told Dr. Jahini what a horrible experience my last visit was and how uncomfortable I was for the 3 hours, only for her to tell me she "thought I could take it", I felt like it turned into an argument just trying to explain how bad my previous visit was. The 2nd temp also fell out 3 days later. When the permanent crowns were put in those were so uncomfortable, not sized well. They kept biting my inside of my mouth and the sensitively was painful. I went back again and Dr. Jahini tried to work on the crowns but these were just horrible. I called again for another appointment and made it clear I didn't want Dr. Janani touching my teeth again. Dr. Jahini was suggesting I get a mouthguard to remedy this problem. Although she said she would not charge for a mouthguard that seemed like an odd remedy. I went back once again and had Dr. Evangelista work on me. I had the 2 crowns redone and although I had to go through it all again - removing the old crowns, getting temps, then getting the permanent crowns. There were no issues - not biting my mouth, no sensitivity and they fit perfectly. I am very disappointed with having to leave, however this experience was so awful I can't imagine letting my insurance send any more money to Plaza Dental. Dr. Jahini is nice - she calls you sweetie and dear, so if you are looking for that type of niceness and expertise and competence is not a priority this may be your place. read more

I had such a blast and excellent experience with Dr Jahani. Her bedside manner is so kind. She explains about procedures, outcomes, different options and makes you feel very much at ease. Procedures were also very fast and follow up appointments also fast. I had to fix my bad crowns and few decays which was done with other dental office years ago. Unfortunately, after Dr. Vierra retired, the practice has been sold and I have to find a new dentist after 8 years. As others have mentioned in the recent reviews, don't let the high rating mislead you into becoming a patient here. The 5 star reviews are for the former dentists who are no longer there. I am so disappointed that I need to find a new dentist, but my experience with the new owners has not been good for a number of reasons, including being billed for services that were not provided. Most recently, I had a crown that came loose and made an appointment here to have it re-cemented since this Plaza Dental Group was my current dental provider. When I arrived, the dentist spent 3 minutes with me - literally took the crown from me, put some cement on it, and pushed it back into place. I am concerned now because she did not exam the tooth or clean the tooth and/or the area before putting the crown back on, given the tooth was exposed for a few days. They charged me $50 for the 3 minute visit, which I paid, as I was thankful for the time, although concerned about the way it was handled. Later, I was told that I had a balance due for a "limited exam and an x-ray" that was done for that day. I had NO exam, NO x-rays, and even more importantly, I am worried about the tooth decaying underneath the crown. And PLUS, I have insurance, so I'm not even sure what they actually billed my insurance provider! After a long phone conversation, the lady at the office agreed that there was no x-ray and said "they would take that off" but that I should still pay for the exam because the dentist saw me that day. I explained that I paid $50 at the office (and I know they billed my insurance, too). She also wanted to charge me for some other "balance due" that she could not easily explain from earlier in the year (?). I let her know that she could go ahead and bill me whatever they wanted - and to provide the details for me to review - but I would not be paying for any services that I did not have. I wasn't going to share this experience, but felt compelled to, knowing that this was not a one-off bad experience that only I had; instead, this was a recurring pattern of poor (and potentially questionable) service based upon other reviews. read more

This group on 4205 San Felipe Rd 200 Suite 200, San Jose, CA 95135 has dentists that are good at what they do, but the business itself is very dishonest. Their goal is suck your insurance policy as quicky as possible and whatever the insurance won't pay or can't pay will be on you even though they tell you "oh you are covered". You will be hounded and they will threaten to send it to collection agency. I have never seen anything like this. They over charge for everything, they don't do preapproval with insurance appropriately, and they won't tell you what you will be paying until you get there. when I complained about this, the front desk told me that "its your insurance, you should do the preapproval". I stopped going there, yet they keep sending me appointments through texts. Then they send me bills from over a year ago and tell me that I have not paid when I have fully paid them in cash. Lame! My whole family went to Dr. Vierra for over 30 years. He has retired so a Corporation has purchased it . They now have a revolving door where the Dentist won't even be there the next day. They came in got rid of all the stars , the great staff & have a shell of a business. I did continue going to see Lidea as she's the best Hygienist ever until I got a call saying My daughter & I were going to see another Hygienist. No way was my reply ! I knew then that was the last time our family would be at Plaza Dental Group.Lidea was going to retire & only had a bit of time left she wasn't going anywhere. So I know they were ageist & fired her. As a matter of fact when I told the person that I knew she didn't leave of her own free will she was taken back & even said she couldn't talk about it. To begin, if I could give this dental office 0 or negative stars, I would. It is not a place you want to go to to receive fair, ethical and kind treatment. You will not be given a director answer. I went today, May 23, to receive an X-ray on a tooth I had a root canal a few years back to see it's progress, but before my actual appointment started a receptionist with no formal dental training told me I needed to get a crown. Lots of confusion followed. I am not well versed in dental terms and they did not explain to me that they were going to shave off my entire tooth. When they did that to me and I discovered my tooth was gone, I asked them why they did that. It was not necassry. My tooth was healthy and healed from the root canal but the doctor insisted I had to do it because of "scientific studies." End quote. In addition to the miscommunication, I felt incredibly scammed because they always have claimed to accept Metlife and I had enough coverage but they still accepted me to fork over a big amount of my own money for a procedure I did not want. I felt extremely manipulated by the doctor, hygienist and receptionist. They will offer to play you music, all the while, not giving you necessary information, nor even asking you if you are seeing someone like an orthodontist. They did not ask me if I have retainers--which I do--and now, because my tooth was shaved off and they positioned a temporary crown in a new position, I will have to redo my top retainer which is extremely time consuming and could have been avoided. Please go to another office for your dental needs; I had to learn the hard way with this team! read more

These people are fraud they lie to you. They will send you bills and not tell you anything when your insurance is to it's limit they will just keep going then send you a ungly bill. We had double coverage and still billed us. They keep you going in there and keep calling you so they can treat you and take your money. I'm so sad to post this review after so many years of being a patient here, but I agree with the other reviewer that ever since Dr. Vierra left, it has gone downhill (I only stayed because Lydia, my hygienist was the best) because it seems they've gone corporate and are now more concerned with profit over patients. Now that my hygienist is gone, I'm finding another dental office. Based on my most recent experience of them telling me I needed to get three crowns without being able to provide any proof on X-rays or anywhere else, that I needed this very expensive work done....It was the last straw. If you still stick with them after knowing this, I would just say to be wary and get second opinions if/when you suddenly need very expensive work done after many, many years of not having any major problems. Do not use! Since the sale of the practice to another group all the good things about Dr. Viera's previous practice are gone. I was a patient for over 10 Years. Third rate dentists with suspect training, insurance reps and management on site are overcharging for procedures, providing fraudulent coverage amounts leading the patient to pay way more than anticipated. The only staff left there are clueless and unprofessional. I was forced to pay additional $300 for work that was deemed cosmetic by delta dental when the office said it was not. I've been a patient at Plaza Dental a couple of years before Dr. Viera retired. I found him to be professional and had confidence in the level of care I was receiving. Today, I rating Plaza Dental with 2 stars for the following reasons: A few days before the July 4th weekend, I was seen at Plaza Dental on an emergency basis because I was experiencing considerable pain. An X-ray confirmed that I had an infection. The doc that saw me prescribed antibiotics and explained that the meds would "either help or not help" and that if I 'wanted to see an oral surgeon I could find one in the community.' Their oral surgeon wouldn't be available for a month. At checkout I asked the office worker about possible oral surgeons I could seek out. I was told that Plaza Dental does not refer out. I explained what the doc had told me. The office worker corroborated with the doc what I had been told, essentially, that I could find my own oral surgeon or schedule in a month. They, in fact, do not refer out or have a list of adjunct oral surgeons. I chose to schedule with the Plaza Dental oral surgeon. When I got home I noticed that the pain I was experiencing was increasing. I took Advil and the antibiotics, hoping the meds would relieve the pain. Advil did not even begin to touch the pain. I called Plaza Dental and selected the on call doc option. And to my surprise there was NO ON CALL DOC. Eventually, the pain subsided. Today I went in for my followup appointment and waited for 45 minutes. No explanation was given. I've purposely NOT shared my feelings about these experiences. I am, however, writing this review so that the Plaza Dental group can make any changes they consider necessary and future patients can choose carefully. I WILL be looking for another dentist because I don't feel comfortable with the current level of care at Plaza Dental. read more

I've been coming here for probably over 15 years! I started when I was a kid and have been following up with Dr. Vierra and Lydia ever since! Lydia is very gentle and thorough and I highly recommend her!! Over the years, I have tried other dentists due to insurance limitations and location, but ended up just coming back and paying cash here because it was so worth it. I also have to commend the office staff, particularly Fralin, who has been great in working with me and my current insurance issues! Whether they were new or seasoned, I have always had exceptional customer service from all the receptionists. They are always very helpful with scheduling, insurance questions, etc. 10/10 service from start to finish COVID update: The door is locked when you arrive. This allows a staff member to come out, make sure you have a mask on, and personally ask you questions regarding possible exposure. They are also having patients rinse with peroxide at the beginning of the treatment. I felt very safe coming here during the pandemic! read more

Never coming back. They bribe you wt quip toothbrushes for good reviews but this place is completely UNPROFESSIONAL and dont know what on earth they are doing. They would leave multiple vm for billing bt no vm for when i needed to come back for my night guard fitting. I get multiple calls. Bt no vm. When i finally figured it out and came for the nightguard they never even told me the machine didnt properly scan and that i had to come back. I've had such a great experience with Dr. Jahani and Plaza dental staff. I wouldn't usually get excited about going to the dentist, but I know each time I visit that I will consistently receive punctual, thoughtful, and top of the line care. On my last visit, I had gone in for a chipped tooth, which is something I would only trust Dr. Jahani with. She has a high level of technical expertise as well as aesthetics treatments which is very hard to come by. She completed my treatment so quickly, with zero discomfort, and most importantly left me a beautiful smile. I also had a consult with her about a few other treatments, but she is not the type to try to sell her patients on anything and assured me my smile was naturally attractive as is. I have been going to the Plaza Gental Group for years. I was sad to see Dr. Vierra retire. Since that time, I have seen three others doctors there and it is hard to have them fill his shoes. I keep trying. Soon, I will have a third try to fill a chip tooth. I certainly hope this will last longer than the previous ones.
