**DISAPPOINTED*** My maltese had beautiful long hair. I asked her to give him a puppy cut but instead she shaved all his hair off. She canceled & moved appointment to 3 days later to email & say she is rescheduling from 10 to 12 & arrives late. She is not reliable & the entire experience was a nightmare. Never using this service again especially because my dog was frightened to death. My dog is 10 years old & always had a great experience in a regular spa. I don't recommend this service unless you want heartache. I cried when I saw the horrible haircut my dog received. She doesn't know how to cut maltese or a small dogs hair. I would leave less than one star as Bernadette has now cancelled on our dogs twice in a week. The first time she cancelled was the day before she was supposed to come and groom our 4 dogs at our business which requires enormous effort to coordinate. As we are small business owners ourselves and understand things happen, we gave her a second chance and confirmed again last night our appointment for today. Bernadette texted and woke us up at 1am to cancel our 9am appointment. We wake up at 4am to start our day. What business contacts their customers at 1am? The unprofessional behavior that Bernadette has displayed in cancelling not once but twice last minute and then contacting us at 1am is unacceptable and I would be very careful if you choose her to groom your pet. If she' displays this level of irresponsibility before she even shows up, how can you I have faith in the care of my animal? Bernadette is very good at what she does. My Maltese comes out perfect every time she grooms her. I am very fussy with my dog and Bernadette always listens and does what I ask. Bernadette is an animal lover and my Sophie went right to her the first time she meet her and loved her. My sister now uses Bernadette for her Yorkie and Leo comes out perfect as well. I would highly recommend Bernadettes Doggy Spa. All that matters to me is that Sophie is not scared, and she is not!!! and that Sophie looks good, and with Bernadette I got both. Sophie's old groomer took 3 hours and Sophie was caged for most of that time which scared her so bad. Bernadette is the most unprofessional business person I've dealt with! I called her for an appointment and explained that I work weekdays until 5 and she said OK you need a Saturday appointment, so I scheduled it for about 10 days away. About 1 hour before the appointment, she called with some excuse about her dog needing to go to the vet. She offered to come on Tuesday and asked what is the earliest I could be home, I told her 5 pm. The day of the appt. I get a txt asking if She could come earlier, I said "No I am at work". So then she cancelled, again! I told her forget it. This is so annoying as now the dog is 2-3 weeks past needing his haircut and it will likely be another 2-3 before I can book elsewhere and being a Cockapoo, he will start to get matted. Im coming back to update my review... Iv been using Bernadette for about a year. I thought I found a groomer for my two dogs that was the best Iv ever had. Unfortunately she became extremely unreliable the last 6 months. I made my appointments with her after every appointment for 5 weeks to not worry about my Cockapoo & Cavapoo getting matted. But now she either overslept, car problems & other personal reasons (I was always very understanding) but it became a problem for me & my job. 2 dogs takes at least 4 hours. So I never made any other commitments to my clients that day. Now I'm losing money. Its a shame because she is very talented, used nice products & my dogs were always happy so I knew she treated them well.I won't deny that but extremely unreliable. Very bad business. read more

I am quite particular about who I trust with my pet (an overproctective dog mom), but I am 100% comfortable with Bernadette. I called a month ago to schedule a grooming for my puppy the last Wednesday of March at 4:30 pm. I got a call right before saying that she had an emergency and had to reschedule my appointment but will call me to reschedule. I then tried calling her a week later left a message no call back. I had an appointment with Bernadette for this Saturday. The appointment was made weeks ago. When I first contacted her, she talked to me like I was a long lost friend...telling me about the illness that was in her house...that she had pneumonia, etc. Why? I'm not sure. I texted her tonight (Tuesday) to confirm. She told me she could not make it. She told me that her territory just changed...I'm not sure if she owns the company or not. She changed her story, so I'm not sure what the truth is. She was kind enough to tell me that she never said her territory was Central Islip when I told her she was falsely advertising. That's great since I do not live in Central Islip and the town I live in is clearly stated on her website. She is unprofessional and a liar. I don't know how she grooms dogs, though she did lecture me on proper animal care, but I know that she is a terrible businesswoman.
