I had an elopment wedding in December and was lucky to find they were able to style my har and do my make up in a short notice. Krista was my stylist and after showing her a couple of pictures she did exactly what I wanted.My hair stayed styled for the whole wedding. Her stepdaughter did my make up (I am awful for not remembering her name) and she was incredible. My make up was very natural and she even gave me a lipgloss to match what she put on me. I have been going to Bernies Hair Salon since 2011/2012. I have been getting my hair done by Krista each time. She is absolutely amazing, the other ladies are just as sweet! I feel right at home and her and I have just been able to pick up where we left off from the last appointment. I am not going to put this into effect of the stars but due to tight money I am not able to afford to go to Krista every year. It can be rather expensive. I almost always get a trim and two solid colors (top and underneath) which comes about 120$. BUT the work Krista puts in and how beautiful and to the photos is well worth it. I would reccomend these beautiful lively ladies at this shop (especially Krista) to people but would mention the pricing. Other than that, I just came out with beautiful hair and objectively for my wedding coming up soon. It is always nice to come in and see some smiles. read more

I went to Bernie's because my boss had gotten a flawless color correction done by Tiffany. The salon is super cute! Everyone is really friendly, I felt right at home. I ended up getting my hair cut and styled by Randi Lu and I am SO HAPPY!!!! My hair looks better than ever and she gave me great tips on how to make it healthier. I felt like she was looking out for my best interest as opposed to other stylists who pressure you to spend more money there. I stumbled upon Bernie's salon while in desperate search for a place to get my hair and makeup done for my engagement pictures. Although I have a fabulous cosmetologist here in Sacramento, I really wanted to have someone close to the location of my photos to style my hair so as not to mess up or loosen my 'do. Once again, Yelps best reviewers led me to Bernie's but most importantly, raved about Krista SO MUCH that I requested her to be my stylist. (THANK GOD FOR YELPERS!) Krista is one of those GREAT hairstylists where as soon as you meet her, you know you are going to love her. Although I had been anxious three days prior to getting my hair and makeup done, it all went away when I met Krista. Her personality was lively and lovely. I personally am always thankful for a fun, upbeat stylist who loves their job and gets excited for a new hair challenge. I showed Krista a few pictures of what I wanted and she was ALL about it! Throughout the process she took the time to insure I was digging what she was doing and was so great about my input. Towards the end of my updo, Krista showed me the details in the back of my hair and I would say, "I LOVE IT" then she would tweak it a little more and I would be even MORE in love with it! I loved the perfectionist in her! She did an AMAZING job on my hair and I can't imagine finding anyone else in Napa that would have given me a more positive experience. Another thing Krista helped me with was getting her coworker to do my makeup. I have had my makeup done by a couple different places and NEVER have I been satisfied.(I actually stopped going to a salon because of a bad makeup experience). I feel like the devil for not remembering her name, but she was so patient with me and stopped after applying a few different things to make sure I like the direction she was going in. One of my favorite qualities in her, was that when I was nervous about the application of my eyeliner (because I am oober picky and specific) she didn't make me feel like a brat for requesting that I touch it up on my own. She was very understanding of my wants and was so gracious about letting me apply it on my own. She also had a great collection of make up and was so nice about telling me all about the products she was using. The makeup she used lasted throughout my 4 hour photoshoot and looked great the whole time. It was the first time that I ever walked away happy with the application of my makeup and I am so thankful for that! (I swear if I find out her name I will share!) So basically, if you ever need your hair or makeup done for ANY occasion, call Bernie's and request Krista for all your hair needs. They are beyond sweet, friendly, flexible, talented, and surprisingly affordable. (Then ask her for the name of the girl who did my makeup, so I can give her the credit she deserves!) read more

New to Napa, I had previously visited another salon that received great reviews on yelp. Unfortunately that other salon was a total disappointment and resulted in a bad color job by a disinterested stylist. Well all I can say is that I wish I had gone to Bernie's and seen Randi from day one. What a terrific experience!!! A consummate professional, Randi really listened to my 'hair history' with the other salon and created a solid plan for how to get me back on track with what will ultimately be successful color correction. EXCELLENT!! I recently had the pleasure of experiencing Bernie's Salon & staff when I was a bridesmaid. The 7 of us bridesmaids and the bride and the brides mother & the bride's grandmother were able to come in to the salon first thing in the morning when we were welcomed by the very warm, friendly and accomodating staff. The stylists were not only friendly, but talented also. Each of the stylists gave us the look that we had selected for the wedding day, hair and make-up. They allowed us to set up breakfast trays and champage in the salon for the wedding guests. My stylist 's name is Andrea. Andrea looked at the picture I provided, and delivered exactly what I had asked for in a timely manner. She was very sweet and kind. I was so happy with the style that I picked as she created exactly what I asked for and it lasted ALL NIGHT!! I chose a half up half down style with loose curls. I received so many compliments throughout the evening! Bernie's salon was the perfect way to start the day for the entire bridal party. We all left thrilled with our results and ready to get the wedding events started! The warm and welcoming atmosphere really set the tone for the day. I love coming to see Michelle at Bernie's. She does a great job on my hair and she is so friendly.

I was a client of Bernie's for many years. However, recently I had to substitute her for another stylist in her salon who over processed my hair. I requested Bernie re-due my blond hair so it was not so washed out. I was charged again for Bernie to add some darker colors to it so it would not look bleached. I wrote a check from my bank that was temporary and advised Bernie she should make sure it would process. Bernie agreed and assured me there would be no problem as I had been a long time customer. Bernie said she would walk it into her bank. Instead I got a phone message from her saying I owed her an extra $25 plus the original $ 210. When I explained My bank wanted proof of the overcharge, Bernie said she charged that. She also said I would have to pay cash from now on. I took Bernie a check for full payment as well as a $10. credit my bank paid her. Included was a letter from my bank explaining that the check was good but because the printing was hard to read it was not processed. When I delivered her the money and letter, she came running out saying she did not like how I spoke to her and did not want my check. I told her I always pay my bills and she could throw the checks in the garbage if she wanted.Of course she cashed both checks. You be the judge, after all those years of expensive salon care I was treated as though she did not trust me. I had never once had any payment issues after 10 years of being a customer there. Bernie lost my trust and business. In fact most salons will fix any problems you have for free, not at Bernie's. read more

My huisband goes to her and I've referred countless friends and family members to her over the years. Saw Krysta and she was amazing! Definitely a traditional style inside the salon which goes with that part of Napa. Bernie introduced herself on the phone and in person which was so lovely. Major points for hospitality. They fit me in last minute on a Monday. I had spent the better part of an afternoon calling places in Napa, Martinez, Benicia and finally lucked out when they could squeeze me in. I had had morning sickness for 2 weeks straight and was at the point where I was so tired i wasn't even combing my hair after i showered-just tying it up-which is the worst possible thing you can do with curly hair. Krysta let me vent about that and shared about her own experience, then washed, cut, and styled my hair in under 45 mins. She was truly a god-send. The atmosphere at Bernie's is very relaxing. I'd highly recommend going there. My wife and I recently moved to Napa and were told to see Lissy at Bernie's. My wife had her hair highlighted and cut. She looks amazing and Lissy did it all for a very reasonable price. My wife has been referring all her friends. As a guy, I prefer to find a hair stylist and stick with that person to avoid those awkward conversations trying to describe how I want my hair cut with very limited hair styling knowledge/vocabulary. Lissy did an amazing job. I've moved quite a bit in my life and consequently had many stylists. Lissy is the best!!! Her stylist abilities are perhaps only surpassed by her nice, easygoing nature. A great overall experience and I'll definitely be going back. This is a cute, laid-back salon with a friendly atmosphere. People running around in all black looking intense and artsy don't always make me comfortable when I am getting my hair cut, so I was pleasantly surprised not to see that. I previously lived in Orange County, where the ladies take their blonde VERY seriously, and I'm pretty picky about having the tone of my color just perfect.I stumbled upon Sheena when I moved here, and she is my hair angel! She does beautiful, perfect cuts, beautiful, natural, shiny color, listens really well and intuits what I want when I'm waffling, and is extremely enjoyable just to spend time with. I love SHEENA! I recently moved to Napa from San Diego, and just had my first appt at Bernie's. I keep my hair in blonde highlights, and was hoping to find a stylist who understands that I really don't like golden or brassy tones in my hair at all. I prefer the cooler tones of blonde. When I called, a friendly voice answered and it turned out to be Jill, who ended up doing my hair. She listened to what I wanted and then using my natural roots as they are (uncolored) for the lowlight, gave me the most beautiful platinum highlights! I couldn't stop checking out my hair in every reflective surface I came across. On top of that, she is easygoing and terrific company to talk to. We had to plan for a destination wedding in Napa and we depended upon Yelp. Thankfully we were very pleased with the results. We found Krista at Bernie's by reading other bride's responses. They were all on target. Beforehand, we communicated with Krista via phone and e-mail. She was well prepared for us and had arranged for Jordan to come an apply make-up. The results were exactly what we had hoped for and both Krista and Jordan were A+++! We notified them that we were running late, and they were able to flex with that... Krista had blocked enough time to accommodate the hectic wedding day, including our tardiness... AND... this salon is one of the few in Napa that uses UNITE hair products. My salon at home does and they are fantastic... and Krista informed me that only 3 salons in Napa are allowed to carry this product... I was so pleased to see that they are one of them. The groom's mom lives about 45 minutes away and she said she would consider traveling and changing from her long-term, local stylist based on our experience... Krista was able to do a fantastic job on the hair of three women who have thick, curly, hair... I discovered Bernie's on Yelp and it is a lovely, very clean, friendly salon. I like the atmosphere of the salon and its' professionalism. It has a great location. I went to Carrie and she did an excellent job on my hair, which I let go way too long because of a busy, hectic summer. The only thing I am concerned about is the price--it is higher than my previous salon but it is a better salon and if you need hair color done, which can be a risky business, this is the place to go and Carrie will listen carefully to what you want and do not want--both are important.
