Their pizza is so goood! Nuff said! Seriously it's perfectly crispy and thin. Two slices always, oh my don't judge a book by its cover!

This place hasn't changed much in the 20+ years since I've been back home. They've always had good deals on pizza and water ice. I believe it's the best water ice I've ever tasted which is why I made a specific goal to go downtown and get a big cup of cherry and then shared a lemon with my sister. We got the double slice too just to tide us over until we ate later and it was fresh and delicious. This place is just classically good. It really is a slice if childhood for me because I can remember going down there on a hot summer afternoon with my mom & sister and always having a hard choice on water ice selection as they have quite a few choices. The water ice has very small real chunks of fruit in it to enhance the overall taste. Little maraschino cherries in the cherry and little scrapes of lemon peel in the lemon. Just order at the walk-up window and wait a little bit and walk off with a double slice and a large water ice for about $6. You just can't beat it. I don't know how they make their water ices so soft and super flavorful but they're great.

    I couldn't wait to take a bite!

The french fries came out a little fried, but the server was quick to fix this and brought out new baskets. The kids meals have a lot of food. I had the crabcake sandwich which I inhaled in a few seconds. It was delicious. The cioppino is also really good too.

Happy hour means $6 well drinks, so my standard is rum and diet Coke. Good drink, single pour of Cruzan. I chose to dine at the bar because the weather was a little steamy out. But I later took my second drink out onto their riverfront patio, and sat awhile in the shade of the building. It was lovely. For snacks, I ordered the blackened filet medallions and the garlic mussels. On a skewer, four hefty pieces of excellent beef were joined with a nifty horseradish dip. I did cut the steak into several bites per piece, so it was a good sized portion. My only preference would have been some garnish (greens maybe?). The mussels normally come with bread, but I let them keep it in the kitchen to sub my own GF bread from home. The broth was thin and lightly flavored, which I enjoyed almost like a soup (but was too embarrassed to tip the bowl). The patron to my right bemoaned the loss of a thicker broth from a previous recipe, so the bartender brought him some scampi butter which helped apparently. I really loved the light broth and found it soaked into the bread quite nicely. Friendly bartender gal cashed me out at my request before I took my drink on the patio. $30 plus tip, well spent. I could be a regular here, and look forward to another visit to Wilmington next time we are in Philly.

It's a small stand with a small parking lot and, although the line wrapped around the building, it moved quickly. There are a large number of choices, many of which are pictured and described on the side of the building to peruse while you are in line. I decided to have the Bananas Foster sundae. It was vanilla soft serve sprinkled with cinnamon, topped with caramel and thinly sliced bananas. Pure heaven! The ice cream itself is sweet, creamy, and had a very natural vanilla taste. The bananas were the perfect ripeness and meshed well with the other ingredients. I loved it! My husband had a mango pina colada freeze, which is like a milkshake. Again, the flavors blended well and their vanilla soft serve is outstanding so it brought the drink together. They take cash or card but do bring some cash for a tip for the hard-working staff. This is definitely going on my favorites list and we'll likely combine it with a trip to the Dog House, which is nearby.

Nothing fancy for me though, just a cup of mixed vanilla and chocolate ice cream with rainbow sprinkles! Perfection in a cup.
