Berry street park is cute! It's not the best dog park in San Diego, but it's nice if you live close and just want to get your dog out for a bit! Everytime we have gone it's been pretty muddy so that's not the my favorite thing at all. The park can be pretty crowded itself - not the dog park. This is my first time coming here (during COVID) and there were only two other dogs at the park. The shady area is kind of damp and muddy, but there's lots of grass to roll and clean off in. Two of the agility objects are damaged/have missing parts. The rest are fine, though- plus, there are plenty of balls and ropes lying around to play with. The area is large enough to run full speed and they have a running water fountain right outside! Bring poopie bags- 'cause all they have is a scooper without the scoop. read more

Hot day out jogging and ran into free ice cream truck is a win win, Honda Dealers doing this all over town, if you spot them, grab them, don't have to be a Honda driver to get it. The park might not be such a good place to hang out though, a lot of rif raf and homeless people living there in the parking lot, most of them staying in their cars, some came out and tried to talk to you, so if you can avoid them, do so, other than that keep going on with your day read more

I came here on a Sunday morning with my dog. It's a nice open park with a playground, picnic tables, and a small dog park. The dog park is separated into the small and large dog sections.. And both are fenced in. It's supposed to be a grassy area but a lot of it is sandy/muddy. Luckily I always bring my own dog bags, because the stations here were completely out. The rest of the park has a nice cement walking path along the perimeter of the space. This park reminds me of the ones I grew up on.. Nothing new or technological here. There was a pretty big parking lot..which made getting to the park easy. read more

Berry Street Park is a family friendly park with a separate park section just for your dogs. This section is split into two parts one for small dogs and one for large dogs. Both sections are fenced in for every ones comfort and enjoyment. I didn't notice a poop bag dispenser so be sure to bring your own. On the park grounds are two play areas for children, picnic tables, restrooms and a covered picnic area. Most of the park is covered with grass but there are some patchy dirt areas. I personally have not been to many dog parks, but I think this is a nice place to take your dog to play and meet new doggies. I like that the park has its own parking lot with plentiful of parking spaces. And the park itself is pretty spacious. There's a full playground, some tables under a canopy, large grass area, a fenced yard for small dogs and a separated fenced yard for large dogs. The dog park also comes with water bowls and hoses to fill them up with water. Although the large dog park mainly consists of dirt. And the small dog park is half grass half dirt. Not bad for what it is. The only thing I don't like is that there's some ghetto kids and weird people who hang around here. read more

One is for small dogs and the other is for larger dogs. Each yard has a bench for people to sit back and relax while the dogs enjoy playing with each other. The park has provided a dog bowl and a water sprout to serve the dogs fresh water or to rinse them off. We went on a Saturday morning and there were very few dogs there so my dogs got a whole play yard to themselves! We love this park! It provides a safe place for our kiddo to play (two play areas one for younger and one for older) and the perfectly paved walkway with a loop for learning to ride a bike or walking with your stroller. Nice neighborhood park that sits on a sloping hill. Bathrooms are decent even though there aren't doors on the stalls. There are a few gazebos and lots of benches/picnic tables in shady areas. A fenced-in dog park is located at the bottom for both big and small dogs. They also just put in a packed-sand 'paved' path that goes around the perimeter of most of the park--good for strollers. The playground area has a play structure with slides and swings, and the other side is more of an obstacle course with jumping pads and climbing walls. There's usually plenty of parking in the lot on Mt. Vernon but you can also park up at the top on Berry St. read more

I have always liked coming here and actually used to bring my kids here when they were little. I brought my Grandbaby here for a school fall festival party. The equipment here is very well taken care of with some unique things such as what I would call "The Caterpillar" this piece has about five or six seats and everyone has to work as a team to make it wave. I wanted to take pictures of it but I was not comfortable with posting other peoples children online. There is a piece that is like a zip line and also pieces that simulate jumping through the matrix and it focuses on balance. Heck when I get better I might start coming here just to work out! There are beautiful tree's strategically placed through out the park. Plenty of grass to just relax and large enough to walk around in circles. I really like this place. read more

I would give it 5 stars for the maintenance. The visitors can be interesting but the majority of dog park patrons and parents are great there usually. Seems like some people prefer to leave their dogs unleashed on occasion and forget its a family park. I prefer that people dont do this. I take my 5 month old GSD/Lab pup here to let out as much energy as he can so that he can knock out later. Its a nice park with the Offleash gated area more towards the back. There is a designated spot for small dogs and large dogs. Bring your own poop bags because they only have a scoop. There's balls here for the dogs to play with but they're a bit worn out. I always run into nice people who are usuals at the spot! Dogs are all most friendly as well. read more

I'm never coming here again does are not on a leash and me and my dog were nearly attacked and it took minutes for the owner to get his two dogs I had to yell like three times he was far from his two dogs with no leash screw this park. I live so close now I have to find another park I wouldn't expect two dogs would have no leash running around and they were big dogs I have a Pitt bull that has trauma last thing he needs is two dogs trying to attack us those dogs scratched up my leg I'm never coming hear again. read more

I take my 6 month old husky all the time and she loves it. There's two parts to the fenced area one for little dogs and other for big ones. She's always had a great time and sometimes the park holds like little concerts or movie nights and people can park on the outside or follow the ushers that direct you where to park on the grass. *review for the dog park only* I discovered this place when researching dog runs with different fenced areas for both big vs. small dogs. You have to walk through an open park area and playground before you see the dog run. The fenced in area isn't that big compared to like, Balboa Park or the Grape Street dog park, but it's just fine. There is a hose for water. It is all grass, which is nice (not dust like Balboa Park). It is a nice little park, and if it wasn't so far from me, I would definitely go there a lot. The only downer was that a bunch of kids came into the small dog area, including a small child running around waving his arms. I can't help but be irked when I have to remove my dog from the dog park because of a kid. Just because there are "small" dogs doesn't mean they aren't threatened by a yelling, running, waving kid. Every other square inch of the earth is for your kids; there is precious little space for dogs to run free. Dog parks are for dog owners to exercise and socialize their pets, not for kids to play. If you MUST bring your little kid, have them remain calm and quiet. read more

This is a cute neighborhood park. My pup really enjoys this park since there's a lot of grassy area. And since the park is located on a slope, she also loves to gallop down the hilly areas. Although, it looks small, it's actually 6 acres. There's a good sized playground with a jungle gym which always seems to be busy with kids. There's also several picnic tables and a couple of gazebos that are available for rental. Also there's plenty of nice big trees that provide shade. Although, pets are welcomed they need to remain on a leash. I've noticed many people don't exactly follow this rule which isn't a problem if their dog is well behaved. But I was warned once by another Yorkie owner that there had been a careless owner with his Pitbull. I don't exactly like that there's a busy road right in front of the park. This can be dangerous for kids or dogs running out of the park limits after a ball or something (which I've seen happen). Also in typical Lemon Grove fashion there's no sidewalk in the area surrounding the park. They did have free summer concerts every Thursday July 7-August 11th which attracts a good sized crowd. But pets aren't allowed at the park on concert days. So it's not the most pet friendly park, but if in the area it's a good place for your pup to feel the blades of grass between it's paws. read more

Recently I came here with my kiddos to have a small family bbq, when I got here I was thrilled that they had put in a dog park. Since then I've been here several times with my basset hounds & once to have a birthday party. It's been years since I've been here but loved coming back especially with the new things. Small little dog park perfect for little dogs to get some exercise. I brought my dog here for the first time after a couple months. We came to the park on memorial day around 2-3 PM. During that time there were 2 or 3 other dogs for a good hour. Around 4PM it started to pick up and there were about 5-10 dogs playing around. Nice park to relax and watch the dogs play. read more

We just moved to East county and are trying out the dog parks. This place was cool because it has a park for children attached. I like the grass a lot in the dog area. Most parks we go to have very messy ground covering. The downside is when we came there were only two dogs for our dogs to play with. There is an area for small dogs and large dogs. Downside is there is in table for seating. Someone here said its busy at 5 pm. If I came back I would probably bring a folding chair for seating. read more

I bring my dog here all the time to run and play with the dogs in the dog park area. Never had any problems until tonight. There was a guy and his friends with 3 pit bulls and several small dogs (2 had shock collars on) and they weren't neutered. They kept coming after my submissive pitbull and eventually one attacked him. These guys set up shop like it was their park and picnic area (music speakers and food on the table). IRRESPONSIBLE pitbull owners who should never have brought their aggressive and unsocialized dogs to a dog park!!! I had to call animal control because they had the nerve to act like I was doing the wrong thing and had enough nerve to keep telling me my dog was fine when he had blood dripping off of his face. Be careful when you bring your dogs here! Especially if you walk in and the owner grabs their dogs (that should have been my first sign). My dog has never bitten or been bitten by any dog at the park until today. They should not be allowed to be there anymore!! It's a large (100lb plus) white pit bull with cropped ears and had a shock collar on. The other pitbull were smaller and gray and also aggressive and antisocial. He also attacked another puppy who was there! That dog also had to play away from the white one because of his aggressiveness. Be careful! I called animal control and they will be on the look out for those dogs from now on. read more

Really nice little neighborhood park. I like to workout here or do art under some trees in the grass. It's a jog away from home and not to crowded or full of unsavory characters. There is a fenced off dog park area for the fur baby parents. There are restrooms available as well as a nice playground for the childrens. Really enjoyed my first time here! Arrived around 5pm and was only surrounded by a few dogs at first. Then by the minute, dog owners and their friendly, playful dogs started to fill up the place. Seems like the dog owners here are familiar with each other and their pets, since every time a dog arrived, everyone greeted each one by their name. Sweet! It was my puppy's first time at a dog park and I'm glad this place was his first. Friendly dogs + Friendly dog owners = Great atmosphere for happy pups! This is an awesome dog park!! Nothing super special, just a large dirt/grass area for the dogs to run around. My boyfriend and I have been taking our dogs here every morning and It's nice to see the "regulars" as well. Only complaint would be that the dirt in the park can get pretty messy for dogs, so make sure to bring wet wipes or something for after. read more

The enclosed dog areas are pretty small - although we appreciate there are two. Dog waste bags are never available in the dispensers. The park needs additional lighting for safety. Parking is limited and there are usually parties with crowds of people who take up the spaces. There are always some suspicious folks hanging out at the park benches or in the parking lot - it would be nice if there was some sort of safety patrol. If you do choose to visit, it is advisable to visit during mid-morning. read more

This place is great if you have little ones who want to utilize the play structure, granted you don't show up before 10 am when the tweakers are there cussing and lashing out at children who want to play. As a bystander, I've had to call police twice to this park to remove the druggies that were threatening parents and kids. The druggies sleep on the play structures. There used to be a lady who would bring her German Shepherd, Max here and her other dog, Clifford. Max was notorious for being aggressive, and although myself and other dog park patrons called the city and police regarding a ban on them, little was done. The dog no longer patrons the park. There was also an attack last week.. pit bull on golden retriever, leaving the golden with tubes sticking out of his neck to drain fluid and over 5 grand in vet bills. I have nothing against pits, just something against owners who don't train their dogs, regardless of breed. Be cautious in the big dog park. There is a group of friendly regulars who will tell you the pros and cons of the park; Racquel (blue nose pit), Lorenzo(golden retriever), Bear's owner and a few others. There's usually a wide variety of breeds, but the majority of dogs are pits, so if you don't like them, don't come. read more

This is a nice park. I love the fact that the children's playground is in the same park. There are two small fenced spaces. One for dogs 25lbs and under and the other small space is for large dogs. It's mostly dirt. I encountered some very friendly people and dogs. I liked the area where the park is located. The fenced space can be a tight space in the evening hours. There is a large grass area outside of the fenced space. Dogs do have to be on leash for walks there. Baggies were not stocked but luckily I had some.
