We traded our Berry Dog Park in Lemon Grove for this one! This park is huge! They gave a bench where you can charge your phone, beautiful little water fountain, and lots of poopie bags. NO DIRT- ALL GRASS! They even have a doggy playground! The dogs here are friendly and the owners are attentive. This will be our new home now.

Dog park review #6 - it's like a 4.5 but I went with a 5 because why the hell not! They earned it...it's the obstacle course for me...it's the agility training set up for me...it's the dog playground for me.... LOCATION: we love BONITA!!! So beautiful! This park is mesmerizing. PARKING: TONS and I repeat TONS! Best part: FREEEEEEEE muahahah SIZE: WOW when is Yelp going to let us add emojis so I can show you with heart eyes that the size of this park is INSANE! It doesn't get better than this. It just goes and goes and goes and goes. Way back! CLEANLINESS: I actually stepped on a doggy boo boo lmao!!! My vans are ruined right now tbh!!! Sheesh... i don't wanna judge the park by that tho because that was simply a mistake on the dog owners behalf *ahem* DOG POPULATION: They have a SMALL doggo area and a BIG doggo area - we love a good park that caters to all shapes colors flavors and sizes!! Yasss no discrimination here. The dogs here do follow the rules so they are separated- (little Italy - no dogs follow that rule they all play in one big area despite there being signs for separation) but that is for the safety of your dogs. SEATING: there is only one bench on each side that will solely fit 3 people total (ya better know those people in this pandemic - no stranger could sit next to you) they are in the direct sunshine SHADE: not much shade - there is a big tree towards the back however you would have to stand if you wanna stray away from the vitamin D The good news....people do bring their own park chairs / lawn chairs with the detachable umbrella - I've seen that and personally I think that's genius!

This place is one of the few dog parks that have grass for the dogs. There is a separate smaller area for the 20lbs and under dogs and then the bigger area for dogs 21lbs and larger. Today was quite busy during 6pm ish... both areas have agility training although, today there was a bunch of kids playing on it like a playground. They have seating with solar charging stations, garbage bins so that everyone can pick up after their dog (although that is not the case for all dog owners), I notice a bunch of pooper scoopers and didnt notice any bags in the bag area. The main water is always flooded (like there is a leak) and muddy to walk around. It is right next to the golf course and the parking area is normally not too packed. There is. Playground not too far from the dog park area. Ive notice most of the dogs play friendly and there have been a few instances where owners separated their dogs from other dogs. But everyone is good about keeping an eye on them so far when I've been there. I did pickup some poop in the area that Ava wanted to lay down and it was super dry, so been there for awhile. There is water doggie dishes and gallons (all empty) I've been bringing bottle water since we go to the end that doesn't have water...

I'm a regular at this park and it's a good park but about 10% of the dog owners that come here seem to not pay attention to their dogs and they leave their poop behind... I know this because every time I come I have to pick up about 10 pounds of poop and fill up the holes that most of you let your dogs dig up but don't fill them back up... pay attention to your dog when you come here and keep the far end of the parks water area clean because some of us that come here every day bring gallons for the dogs to have water on the other side of the park and some of you use the water and don't refill the gallons...

Improvements made since first opening, so five stars! Word has gotten out so at Saturday at noon there were plenty of dogs around. There's signage for big and small area. On the small dog side, there's two benches, one with solar powered charging stations. There's a water fountain and several bowls along with multiple trash cans. All the fixings are here! I hope the the leaves return quickly after winter. There's hardly any shade so you can get working a sweat here pretty quick. This is our new go to spot for the pups. Some owners are pretty vivacious about picking up after your dog and their behavior so, just keep an eye out on your dog to avoid them.

Bite mark from 2 huskies known to be aggressive at this park.

Reason for 1 star is due to safety hands down. Been taking my puppy to this park for the past couple months. Usually mornings between 7am-8am. Came into the larger dog area then was approached by 2 huskies 1 larger one and one mid sized one accompanied by a older Hispanic male. The larger one aggressively went after my dog striking him in the face. Long story short I took my dog to the other smaller area. Upon leaving the larger area people we're asking me was is it the larger husky, I said yes why. I guess there has been several complaints and aggressive issues with these two huskies and has been reported several times. In other words the park needs to do something more about this or the individual needs to let people know beforehand that his dogs are aggressive. And of course BEWARE of these 2 huskies, if you see them just avoid their area. I know dogs will be dogs but safety is the number one priority here.

Cute dog park with a lot of space! I came here on a weekday with my Maltipoo and there were a good amount of other doggies running around. They have a nice playground structure that's located in the large dog area. There's other cute little obstacle courses in the small dog area. Plenty of water bowls and balls that are on the floor for everyone to use. It's super spacious so there's plenty of room for the dogs to run around and socialize. The only downside is that there is no shade so it can get a little hot! Pro tip: don't use the yelp address for the dog park. The address leads you into a dead end of some homes. The park entrance is on the main road and it's clear so you won't be able to miss it.

    Amber N.

Took cooper here for the first time really nice park lots of room for him and all the other dogs to run around, but I think he likes the attention from people then playing with other dogs but this park is awesome!!

    Water for dogs

It's a really nice park. They have 2 sections for dogs (small and large). I bring my pup here all the time but I have noticed it's a hit or miss. I've been coming for over 6 months almost daily and can't seem to find the time dogs come to the park. Don't get me wrong there's always at around 4-6 dogs but compared to other parks that isn't much. The upside is if there isn't many dogs in the park there's a really nice trail you can walk that's about 2 miles long. There's water and doggy bags on bothe sections for dogs

How busy does this dog park get during the week?

There are peak times before sunset after most people get off work and i have to circle the lot a few times before I can snag a parking spot. Sometimes I've brought my pup in the morning or during lunch break and it's not busy at all!

When you approach this area, you can easily be misdirected to the county regional park. To avoid this before you go up the hill to the entrance of the county regional park make a right into the driveway that shows the Sweetwater Reservoir. Once you get in there, you will go along a long dirt road to a parking lot that is eventually located next to the Reservoir fishing area. It is a beautiful trail and it's wonderful to be able to walk around the water and see ducks and birds and other wildlife as well as beautiful plants like Manzanita and chaparral. It is a wonderful trail hike, with beautiful and refreshing wind and sunshine. They have Porta potties that are super clean and well-maintained. I would say the porta potties are about a half a mile apart. They also have a bench with an overlook platform along the trail, and everything that we encountered seem to be very clean and well maintained. We will definitely visit this place again and it is definitely a wonderful place to hike. We were able to get out and started to explore the trail and after about 15 minutes, we realized that there was a Ranger honking at us with his siren coming around the bend. He made his way up to us in his truck and indicated that he would be closing the gate to the park in the next five minutes. We told him that we were told by the Park Ranger at the SD County Park check in booth that this trail closes at 8 PM tonight. He then said that we were not the only family to tell him that but that the Sweetwater Reservoir Trail Park actually closes at 5 PM because it's not a part of the SD County Regional Parks; they close at 8p. We rushed back to our vehicle, which was about a mile and a half away and we were able to get in and leave. We were very lucky that this Park Ranger decided to wait for us because we would've been locked into four or five gates and not able to actually get out of the park, even to get an Uber. This was great to understand and know so that when we go next time, we'll go a lot earlier before 5 PM.

I was worried about the heat, but the indoor area was very well air conditioned. The outdoor ceremony by the lake was also surprisingly pleasant and made for a gorgeous backdrop. They have remodeled the tree area and walkways, cleaned up the turf, repaired the 1985 playground equipment, and given a better navigational flow for families. Now, if they could replace the old playground equipment, that would be indicative of the taxes being paid in the neighborhood. I do love how there are groups of women that gather here for their group workout classes. I do appreciate that there are no longer any homeless camps that line the sidewalks and bushes. This park is now a nice place to have a family gathering and the landscape scenery is great.

It was never a safe place, but it was the only place to skate without at the time, being chased, yelled at, obstruction from vehicles and pedestrians. To me. This is the unofficial skatepark in the south east area. I'm still amazed how the city is adamant on installing skate stoppers on the ledges. It's been how many years.. too many?! Since early 2000's when they installed them. I could see the history of the wasted skate stoppers the city spent. Many removed, many reinstalled. The park is better off just converting it into a street skatepark. That Charles l Lewis park is okay, but come on, it's pathetic and neglected. There's outdoor gyms more bigger than that skatepark. Parkside park should be updated. Similar to what they've done in Los Angeles communities. Nothing fancy either, just simple concrete short ramps, ledges, manual pads. An example, Los Angeles Stoner Skatepark can be done at parkside park. Parkside is such a large space that it can be used as that. This park has been a place to skateboard. For decades. Hell even Marc Johnson was skating here as early as the 80's (YouTube - Marc Johnson Right Passage skate video @ 1:06). The problem with the council member of this district is that they attempt to restrict and waste money on trying to stop things from happening; or they chose neglect. Regarding this park and skateboarding, instead of attempting many years to stop skateboarding here, maybe there's something to build upon instead.

I will write this review in the form of tips:…read more Check in and Costs Check in is at 2 p.m., and show up early because there will be a line. Check out is at noon -- and people are prompt! Which is good, because the staff will be driving by and cleaning up ready for check in. Costs are very reasonable at about $40-$45 per night, and most sites allow up to 8 people and two cars (there is overflow parking available, about $5 for each additional car). The splash pad is open May 1 through Sept. 30 and costs $3 for the day (for those aged 1-17). You can buy a season pass for $30 per person if you plan to come more often. Bugs and Things Yes, there are a ton of ants, snails and birds here, and I heard coyotes in the campground at night. So plan accordingly. I was surprised by the number of people without campground discipline. Open drink and food containers for hours. Messy areas with trash floating in their campsites. Wide open tents. Make sure you are keeping your campsite clean. There were several tracks of ants marching through out site and also birds in the wings the entire 3-day trip for us, and we never had a problem with the insects or wildlife by keeping everything tidy and organized. Sites The campground is split into three main sections with just over 100 sites: the upper loops, with 1) one section of exposed full hookup sites and a 2) back section closer to the lake but with no lake view with full hookup sites that have a bit more vegetation, and the 3) lower loop with water and electric at most sites, which is more popular among tent campers, large groups and those with horses (there is an actual equestrian camping section in the campground. Each site has a fire ring with a grill attached along with a table. Site lengths for RVs appear to be mostly around 30' and 32' from what I have seen (but they do have some as small as 20' and as large as nearly 50'), with electric boxes (20/30/50 amps -- awesome!). And pets are allowed ($2 per)! Saw lots of well behaved pups throughout my stay. And I so appreciate that they allow tents at the hookup sites. It's always a treat to have access to water and electricity while tent camping. I found several of the lower loop sites to be far more spacious than the upper link but, still, you are crammed in and there is not a level of privacy to be expected. During my day and previous visit, the site is kept very clean by the staff and hosts. That's part of the reason I prioritized a stay. Some of the visitors however (just some) have absolutely no camping etiquette, unfortunately. Until those trees mature in the upper loop, you are going to want the lower loop if you want shade. Even then, bring a canopy, because the outer side sites, with the views, get HOT. Even on the cooler spring days. Bathroom Situation Upper and lower loop bathrooms all have showers, and you have to get the tokens at the check in kiosk (and get them before 6 p.m.). Overall, I found that the team on site keeps everything as clean as possible. But by late afternoon, it often happened in the lower loop that there was trash and some little puddles all over the floor and stalls out of toilet paper. I visited the upper loop restrooms a couple of times -- for those reasons -- and they were far more pristine and also more specious. Instead of single stalls, each bathroom has a restroom space and a shower space behind one locked door. You can fit a whole family in there, which is super helpful if you are a family and need to all get ready at once. Also, most everyone in the upper loop has an RV (lower loop is more popular with tent campers), so it makes sense that the upper loop bathrooms are cleaner overall. You can buy wood on site at the check in kiosk (buy it before 6 p.m.). About $6 per bundle, and you get about 7-6 nice pieces of wood of varying sizes. One bundle was ample enough for 5+hours of a nice fire. But, and this was surprising to me, you cannot burn a fire after 11 a.m. Location, Activities The campground is in Bonita, about 30 minutes away from San Diego's downtown and coast. Unfortunately, no ocean views here. I take it that many people come here wanting a more remote get away, while still being able to access what San Diego has to offer. On site, there is a whole park for kids, with a splash pad/water features that are open during the summer months. There is also a large grassy day area ideal for parties and picnics. You can also rent out the pavilion, which is near the amphitheater and in the upper loop. It has a kitchen and a large community room where there have been birthdays, showers and receptions. Then there is the nearby reservoir, which is popular for mild walks and fishing, but absolutely no swimming or water contact allowed. Other Apparently, they allow vendors on site -- for parties and other activities. For a cost, you can have a DJ, live music, pony rides, bounce houses. This all appears to be more geared toward summer activities.
