Both Mike and Lani know surfing, it's in their blood. They are well connected to the community and are just great people. Great selection and their store has most anything you'd need to kayak or surf. I enjoyed looking around in their shop. It's actually cheaper for me to rent from the Hot Wax Surf Shop than to haul my own kayak to the island. I can't think of a better place to go for rentals, accessories, and good solid advice.

You don't even have to peddle if you don't want to with throttle assist. Get as much or as little exercise as you want. They give you a sturdy lock to use for the week as well as a battery charger. In the past, we have rented kayaks from Pogie's and have always loved renting through them. Pogie's was AMAZING to work with both during this trip and in the past. They were very kind and attentive to us during our time with them and gave us some local tips for our adventure. They were able to accommodate our larger group and went above and beyond to make it a fun and successful outing. I highly recommend this place!

Pass on this guide. I have been fortunate to fish in many venues in and out of the United States…read more Rainbows, Browns, Bone Fish, Trevally, Blue Fin and Great. I have been fly fishing for 40 years. This young man is a avid fisherman. But his flyrods are not loaded with the incorrect weight line. Generally you take an 8 weight and "cheat" and load it with 9 weight line. I had an 8 weight with 7 weight line that he provided. I can double haul a fly with the right line into the backing. He is focused on the easy catch, a bait ball. He has never used a switch rod or a Spey rod. He is basically a "gear head" lots of spin rods on board. I know, I am a demanding client. But I was very specific "Just get us on fish, and only with a fly rod in my hand." Any time I have fished off the Carolinas I have caught Spanish Mackerel, He did not have a fly rod set us with a bite leader, even though he said if the False Albacore were not on, we will catch Spanish Mackerel. He provided a "boat ride"...and I have a boat. Save your money. Shame on me for not doing more careful research on Perry's abilities. As much I like Perry, he blew it. He should have been honest and told me to save my money. It was a boat ride. Find another guide is my best advice for you. Oh, and for $900 he does not provide a simple lunch, like a 6 inch Subway. My bad, fool me once shame on you...but he will never fool this angler a second time. The guest I brought along did get sea sick, and Perry was considerate and compassionate towards him. But that was later in the day. Perry did discount the trip to a 3/4 day, ($750). But the bigger point was the bite was never on, and he knew it. Please take this review as my way to help you have a great day on the water...after all "the tug is the drug" :)
