Recently one of my old fillings broke off and after my regular dentist finished the replacement filling I spent the next two weeks slowly spiraling into a daily cycle of agonizing pain. Turns out I had all the classic symptoms of pulpitis (e.g. sharp unbearable pain when something hot/cold touched my damaged tooth) and I needed relief fast. I was recommended to see Dr. Kellert at the soonest and I was fortunate enough to get a last minute appointment. Upon arriving, the professional and friendly staff had me in the chair quickly and Dr. Kellert quickly diagnosed (e.g. confirmed) my issue and the need to have a root canal procedure. Of course I had reservations since my last root canal with another dentist was by far the most painful experience of my life (it hurt more than when I broke my wrist and several other bones in my body). Thankfully Dr. Kellert was extremely mindful of this and quickly had me numbed to a comfortable level. The procedure went by very quickly and I was pain free the entire time, which is worth noting since I don't usually react much to novocaine. He was very gentle and did a fantastic job. I was extremely surprised at how smoothly the process went. I strongly recommend Dr. Kellert to anyone who is looking for a dentist who can take care of their root canal issues in the most professional and non-stressful way.

Last Sunday, one of my rear molars basically exploded inside my mouth, and the only thing left was the gum line where the tooth was - and a jagged edge that was slicing my tongue to bleeding every time I spoke or swallowed. I called a hygienist friend of mine Suzanne on Monday morning for a referral. To be clear, she never refers to the offices where she works. She sees the ins and outs, and normally tells you to go elsewhere. This time was different. She had just started back at an office where she used to work and literally said "don't go anywhere else; come here. They will take better care of you than any of the other dentists in the City." Five minutes after I messaged her, the office had worked me in to their already jam-packed schedule. The desk had already been notified of my case, so they quickly sorted all the paperwork situation with me, and I was being treated within minutes of walking in the door. The assistant Emily couldn't have been more attentive, nurturing, and helpful for my nerves. I have four years of med school training, so I was terrified of decay/infection and the critical nature of swift attention. She answered every question, informed me step by step of my end of the recovery, and she kept me laughing and at ease the entire time. I have TMJ Disorder, which is the primary reason I avoid dentists unless I must go. I could write horror stories about having my jaw clamped open for hours on end- and being told to just deal with the spasming jaw muscles during procedure. Then Dr. Cho came in. Her level of professionalism was on par with the insane level of her genuine care for her patient. I couldn't believe that for the extraction procedures (that are already tedious and time consuming with the nature of the location), she stopped every five minutes to give my jaw a break. Even when I didn't need a break, she stopped and made me take a moment to relax, just to be safe. She also kept me laughing and at ease the entire time. Given my prior experience, I was so anxious and at every turn, he reassured me as well as was patient even when in retrospect, I was a bit unreasonable. I don't think you will find anyone who not only is extremely knowlegeable of dentistry academically, but also as adept he is in being a practioner. He even made me a temporary implant at one point that was far superior in how it fit, vs. my prior dentist office and I joked that perhaps, I'll just stick with this, the quality and craftmanship were that good! I would recommend him highly for any/all dental work required. Even if you are normally anxious/nervous about dental work, he repeatedly checks with you to make sure you are comfortable. She arrived for a routine checkup and provided her dental insurance ID card along with the requested information. Despite this, both the receptionist and the dentist repeatedly questioned her insurance coverage and continued asking for information that had already been provided. The most troubling part of the visit occurred when the dentist stated that my wife "did not have insurance before." This was simply incorrect. My wife had previously been covered under a different dental insurance plan. The dentist later corrected herself, but by then the damage had already been done. We fully understand that insurance verification is part of running a dental practice. However, there is a professional and respectful way to handle those conversations. Instead, the interactions felt unnecessarily confrontational, dismissive, and uncomfortable. What should have been a straightforward routine appointment turned into a stressful experience because of the manner in which both the receptionist and the dentist communicated with the patient. Patients should not feel as though they are being interrogated or forced to defend their insurance status after providing the required documentation. Respect, courtesy, and professionalism are basic expectations in any healthcare setting. Based on our experience, we cannot recommend this practice.
