After four botched surgeries and the removal of two prolapsed hemorrhoids, I developed a fissure that refused to heal, affecting my intimacy with my partner. I was given creams and dismissed as being crazy. Eventually, I found a doctor who performed a Lateral Internal Sphincterotomy and Fissurectomy. After healing, I was told I was "good to go," but symptoms persisted. I also had a large skin tag that no one would remove, and I experienced defecation problems. Desperate for help, I sought assistance through my health network, which referred me to the Mayo Clinic and Cleveland Clinic, yet no doctor empathized with my situation. I stumbled upon Dr. Evan Goldstein late one night, feeling hopeless, after reading about the Phantom Fissure. During a virtual consultation, I described my symptoms, and he quickly identified it as a skin issue. We removed leftover scar tissue and a skin tag, and he discovered an internal hemorrhoid that other doctors missed. He also cleaned up skin around chronic fissure and added a little Botox just around the skin of the fissure to help it heal. I had my first follow-up today, including a silver nitrate treatment, done four weeks post-op. Although there's still a long way to go until complete healing, my defecation problems have improved, and everything looks like it did in my early 20s.He said it's healing nice. And I took a look when I got home and I can't say I don't agree. I appreciate that Dr. Goldstein promptly answered my emails, even on a holiday, without hesitation. Before choosing him, I researched thoroughly and found mixed reviews, some claiming he was not genuine. Personally which leads me to believe they are bitter working for big Health institutions getting paid sh**t so they defame his character. However, my experience has been overwhelmingly positive, and I am confident it will continue to be. I want to extend my gratitude to Dr. G., John, and the entire team at Bee-Spoke. If you feel hopeless and unsure of where to turn, I highly recommend Dr. Goldstein. His bedside manner and dark humor lifted my spirits after enduring five years of turmoil. Btw I flew all the way from Scottsdale for my surgery. And then flew in for my first post op from a work trip in Dubai. All worth it. Again I am not fully healed but I know once I follow all the steps to his healing process I'll be back to normal. This is a very special review, from a gal who has suffered for 2 years with constant rectal pain, after being over dilated from a hemerrhoid banding procedure. I have been basically house bound, wearing a tens unit ( my other choice was pain pills) all day everyday. Having a bowel movement was so painful and I could recently barely even get anything out. If you're looking at Yelp reviews you're probably already contemplating contacting Bespoke and Dr. Goldstein for a consult appointment, and my honest advice is to do it already. Save yourself the time and effort of seeking local medical care if you live outside of NYC or LA and are a gay man (or anyone for that matter that's having anal sex). Long story short with my own experience, what should have been a simple procedure turned into a nightmare with doctors I was seeing locally, and after 6 years of seeing many specialists in my area that each had their own methods of treatment, I finally broke down and called Bespoke. It ended up being the best healthcare decision I've made for myself ever. Dr. Goldstein takes the time to first understand your treatment goals and then starts to tailor a plan for you both to get there. That is the key part that was missing at all the other specialists I had been to - there was no talk about sex or lifestyle or anything like that, they just went right into their preferred method of treatment, which actually ended up causing more issues for me. I ended up having surgery with Dr. Goldstein in NYC, and he was available for questions or concerns I had at any moment after that via email. I just want to say that again - the best butt doctor in the world gives you his personal email address after surgery/treatment so you can communicate with him; it's an unheard of level of service in the medical community. And the best part is after healing from the surgery I was as good as new. As good as new!!! What could have been a one-off consultation and treatment for a medical concern has turned into an enduring patient care relationship, quite literally an extension of my primary care. As a gay male, I know all to well the pains of dealing with a non-LGBTQ practitioner who thinks that as long as you're tested for HIV, they've done their job.
