Never Shopping at Best Buy Again! This was one of the worst online purchasing experiences I've ever dealt with, and it completely ruined what was meant to be a thoughtful Christmas gift. My sister, who lives in Chicago, attempted to purchase an item online from Best Buy's Edmonton location to be delivered to me. She entered her own billing information and my address as the shipping destination. Her credit card payment was explicitly rejected three times, and customer service later confirmed the rejection, stating it was due to the billing and shipping addresses not matching. Because of this, she abandoned the purchase and successfully ordered the same item from Walmart instead. Despite being told the payment had been rejected, Best Buy still charged her credit card anyway. When she contacted customer service, she was told I would need to refuse the delivery in order for the charge to be reversed. Over the next four days, Best Buy attempted delivery four separate times, each time insisting on a signature. I refused the delivery every single time. Over a week after the final delivery attempt, my sister checked her credit card statement and the charge still had not been refunded. Even worse, Best Buy claimed that the delivery had been "accepted," which is completely false. I would be very interested to see what proof or signature they believe they have. This situation turned what should have been a simple gift into an exhausting and frustrating ordeal. Between charging a card after a rejected payment, refusing to properly cancel the order, and falsely claiming delivery acceptance, this experience has permanently destroyed my trust in Best Buy. I will not be shopping here again, and I strongly advise others to be cautious. read more

I bought a tablet through online outlet of bestbuy ,the seller is blackview official as it shows in the receipt of purchase. The product is really bad. The batter dies off quickly besides the touch screen does not work at all within less than two month of use .. I checked the order history in my bestbuy account and it does not exist at all . I checked on the warranty on the box as they claim , the ridiculous thing unless you register the product within a week , the warranty will be invalid. Bought RDR2 & the lying thieves at best buy threw in a free trinket keychain as promo for the game's launch. Bunch of thieves denied my refund of the game (still sealed unopened, within 14 day return period with receipt) because I didn't have $0 FREE PROMOTIONAL KEYCHAIN with me. When I asked to be charged for the keychain and process the refund for the game then come in next dat to refund the keychain portion (which I pay retail for now) they still were not willing to lift a finger to help me citing the keychain is like a power cord for a tv and is impossible for the system to process it...it is two distinct items on receipt, it even says 2 items purchased at the bottom of the receipt! Looking at the computer screen, there are options to continue but the useless supervisor on duty just kept insulting my intelligence saying it was impossible, that the purchase was a combo (2 distinct items on receipt) & system will not allow for it to be processed despite my willingness to pay retail price for the FREE $0.00 promo keychain. When I asked for store manager's contact information, the supervisor continued insulting me citing it is so simple that a 10 year old can understand & that the world would end if they did a partial refund today. We bought a top of the line Bosch dishwasher last year from Best Buy. We were happy with the first part of the buying experience but unbelievably dissatisfied and disappointed with the last part. The installation fell apart After one year. The dishwasher fell forward out of its frame as the wood used in the installation became undone. I was on the phone for nearly two days before I eventually found the people who do warranty work. They sent me a job case number and said they would be in touch. Three weeks later- no response! I love the fact that I live like 5 minutes away from a Future Shop. This is the place I come to in order to find my favorite T.V shows in complete seasons at a decent price. Get Smart, not the movie but the old school television came out on DVD and Future Shop is sealing them for $19.99. Not bad, I loved that show when I was a kid. I find that they have a really huge selection for movies and other DVD's. They also have a great staff. I was looking at some cameras, I know nothing about them except the fact that if you push a button it takes a picture; but the guy behind the counter spent some time with me and asked me some questions to help narrow down what I wanted in a good camera. He also helped me find a memory card for the camera that I picked out and explained to me how it worked and how many pictures I can fit on the card. There was a day, not too long ago, when I desperately needed a new DVD player. It was an emergency; I really wanted to watch Felicity, my favorite TV show (don't you judge me!), and my PS2 stopped working! I jumped into my car and raced down to Future Shop to find me a new DVD player. Now, again, I'm not all that great with technology and the guy who helped me out was great too. I really wanted a DVD player that was easy to use and that also played ripped DVD's; the guy hooked me up with one that was on sale and one that came with a free DVD! Another one to add to my collection! My sister-in-law recently picked up a nice Blue Ray Player for my brother for Christmas and she was so happy about the price. She picked it up for the price that other stores were selling for on Box Day. I really needed a laptop for school a while back and the guy who helped me out was pretty informative. I felt good about the computer I picked up and I was happy about the price. Besides going into the store I also love using their web site to do on-line shopping when it's too cold to go out to start my car or when the store is closed. Future Shop is where, since it's close to home, I trek when in need of a new TV-on-DVD box set to while away the evening hours or distract me while cooking or doing dishes. Their selection is pretty huge (though, mysteriously, stocks no Rocky & Bullwinkle) and I've often found that the prices at the till end up lower than the stickers on the boxes. What I don't like about Future Shop is that for items like headphones, you're forced to go all out and spend, like, $50. There's no cheap, budget replacement version readily available - it's only top of the line Sony or whatever else on the shelf. As well, maybe I'm stuck in an archaic mindframe but I was shocked to find that they don't stock blank cassette tapes. How do they expect people to make mix tapes? read more

When I worked downtown I would go there all the time. When I changed jobs and worked on the southside (and lived on the southside too) I would still prefer this store than going out West or to South Common. There was a good Future Shop on Calgary Trail that closed down a few years ago that was also tied as my favourite Future Shop. This downtown store has always had good selection and was a nice clean and bright store. There is ample parking and the staff have always been very helpful. When Best Buy announced the closures I figured this would be one store that they would switch to the Best Buy brand. It would be smart to keep a presence near downtown. I had good luck here picking out Christmas presents for family and friends. It's a big store with applicants in one corner, computers to the right, plus TVs, video games, cameras, and more. The staff helped me pick out the right armband my iPhone, and then I checked out computers with my roommate. Our salesman was very nice, and explained the different components of the computer we were choosing. They even offered to keep the computer for an extra day to install some software on it before sending it home with us. Prices are moderate, and things go on sale often, so check back often for deals, too! read more

I generally find commissioned sales staff to be pesky -- like mosquitos, except instead of sucking your blood, they want to drain your wallet... except when, you know, you actually need help finding something. My most recent trip to the Eff-Ess, as I like to call it which is why I'm running low on friends, was one where I needed the assistance of a salesperson. I got an armband for my iPod Nano, and this dude hustled to get it found for me, get me all paid up, and get me out of the store. It was a good experience. Generally, I actually like Future Shop, and the downtown one is very convenient and has a parking lot to boot. Lots of selection -- of gadgets, of DVDs, and even appliances. I've been to this Future shop more than a couple of times. It's very centrally located and that's probably the best part about this store. I've had a few sub-par experiences here but nothing terrible or inexcusable. Their stock is questionable. This is something I've noticed twice now. I can understand that there are maybe 5 Future Shops sprinkled across Edmonton's map so one could go by the process of elimination and find the store that has what they're looking for. One could also check ahead of time before venturing out to the shop to make sure they have it. Having said that, I remember coming here 2 times during the Christmas holidays (2010) and on both occasions I came for a different kind of iPod dock that. They seemed to be in-stock when I checked online and they weren't on any big sale that they would run out of it in 2 hours or something. They didn't have either of them. On the bright side though, I did come here on Boxing day and got a great deal on a Sony iPod dock that I would have normally considered way over my budget. The camera section is right in the middle of the store and is decent with a wide variety of cameras including DSLRs and several lenses too. It's not the biggest store but they've done a decent job with their use of space keeping enough space for large items like the TV section. However, some of the other small things like, stereo systems or iPod docks is pushed away in a corner and hard to readily see. It's still a well maintained store and I would come here again before driving all the way to south common or something. read more

I don't shop here all that often (maybe once or twice a year) but I don't mind the experience with perhaps one exception: staff members seem too eager to help me (probably for some sort of commission they get once there's a sale) when I'm still deciding what I'm looking for and figuring out the general store layout or where to hunt for something, but they don't seem eager to help once I'm actually looking for their help or expertise. It's an odd dynamic for sure. I definitely don't mind an occasional shopping trip here, however, especially when I have a gift certificate or something, and I have had good experiences with buying things AND with getting refunds in the past, so that's very worthwhile. read more

If I could give a 0 rating for this store I would. 1. Went here looking for a tv a few weeks ago and after talking to the sales associate about options, he went to check for something and never came back. I assume he went on lunch because he was nowhere to be found when we did a store walk around. Ended up walking out with no TV as a result. 2. Came here looking for a TV on Boxing Day in the later day. Stock was showing 1 of the TV I wanted, but they could not find it for the life of them. I assumed it was because of the craziness of boxing day. I asked if we could order it online and just pay shipping (Scheduled Deliveries require shipping charges even though it states free shipping over $20 on the actual tv listing online. Sales associate tried ordering, but it would not process in their system due to being a "scheduled delivery" item only. This associate had to ask 3 people before realizing it was a waste of my time. She told me to order online instead from home. 3. Tried ordering online three times, verified by Visa on the futureshop.ca website was down. It said to call a CSR. 4. Called CSR and their systems were running slowly. She entered my info and kept getting errors, so submitted a ticket escalation for the errors and told me to call back. 5. Called back 4 times and the issues were not rectified. Nobody ever called for the escalated issues. Cancelled order. 6. Tried order again two days later. Verified by Visa was working finally. Order went through. Got an email a day later stating I needed to call futureshop CSR again to verify my information for my credit card. All details were fine when I called and the CSR had no idea why it wouldn't go through. Offered to escalate my issue but I said "No Thanks" as nothing had been done with the prior escalations. 7. Future shop lost 700.00 of business from me because they suck. The end. For a business of this caliber and reputation, and for a business that runs on commission based sales associates, their systems are awful and their lack of communication and knowledge is astounding. Must say my experiences have been pleasant all the way around, staff were very accommodating in helping me fulfill my needs, prices were fair and their sales guarantee solid. Had to bring back an item because it did not meet my needs, the return process went vary well with no surprizes or tricks such as providing a refund via in store gift card even when your purchase was another method like cash or debit. I've been here a few more times since my initial review and I now feel comfortable saying their customer service is generally good and I like their staff...but their stock is shockingly poor for an electronics store. -There was the initial visit where I went to buy a camera and they didn't have half the cameras they had on display in stock. -I purchased a Wii U there. Staff were very friendly and nice, but they had to look around the back for several minutes to find a Wii U. Seriously, it's one of the current generation consoles and it's not like I went there during Christmas season or anything; I don't understand how it could be a difficult item to find in stock. -Went there recently for some ink cartridges, the staff member who assisted me was very nice and looked around for some time to try to find what I was looking for, but they didn't have it. Instead they had rows and rows of the same cartridge (which wasn't one of the two I needed). London Drugs had both cartridges I needed in stock, and they are a more general department store whereas Best Buy is supposed to specialize in electronics. read more

TL;DL: Geekquad swapped the base for my $2900 surfacebook with one from a $1700 dollar model without my consent or ever telling me I have a first gen i7 surface book with dedicated gpu. The A key stopped working last fall so i took it in to Geek squad to see if they can do anything about it (the Microsoft store dont do repairs and can only fix it buy replacing the entire base of the laptop which would cost more then 800 bucks). Two weeks later I picked up the laptop from best buy, went home and realize the A key was fixed but the return key didn't work. I brought it back to geek squad the next day and they refunded me the $150 dollar repairing fee and told me to go to the Microsoft store as they don't fix surface products (why would they take in my lap top the first place then?) I waited for 2 months and took the laptop to the Microsoft store because i needed to save up some money and I didnt touch the surface because I have another gaming laptop to use at the mean time. The staff at the Microsoft store told me the Geek Squad replaced my entire base with a lower tier one. My laptop cost me about $2900 and the base they replaced with was one for the $1700 model without the dedicated GPU. They never ask my consent for this or for matter of fact told me about it. The geek squad clerk used the term "repair" the entire time he was dealing with me. On the receipt it says "keyboard replacement" but in reality they replaced the entire bottom with a lot of other hardware besides the keyboard. So basically they ripped me off for hundreds of dollars and gave me an inferior component that doesnt even work. I contacted the customer service and had to send the laptop back to them last week to find a resolution. Still waiting for an response after almost a week even though they put my case on urgent and I really need the laptop for school. Will never go back to them in the future and will absolutely not recommend them to anybody. read more

Hi I'm George Barnes I bought a fridge on Boxing Day. At Best Buy Because of the time of year it was a week before delivery, a little long but because of the time of year I understood. When it was delivered it was badly damaged, I'd guess run into by a fork lift. I refused it and was told by the driver someone would contact me later that day. No one did this was January 2 Thursday January 3 ,,in the morning I called Best Buy and was told someone would get back to me,,still waiting. Later that day I tried again but gave up after being on hold for 30 minutes. Went in the store was packed no chance of talking to anyone. Sent email that never got answered Friday January 4. Went in as soon as the store opened talked to a manager ( she was helpful and tried her best) found out no one called because it was never booked back in , in the first place. The driver obviously never said anything and the girl I spoke to on the 3rd ,,, well I have no idea what she did. Next open delivery spot is Wednesday the 9th so an extra week to what I thought was a long delivery time to start with Gave up when the delivery that was scheduled for the 9th was cancelled without them even calling, so I had no idea when or even if I'd ever get it A little background my fridge died the morning of Christmas Eve, woke up to noise but no cold. All my Christmas food and the holiday pretty much disaster. So I'll be 2 1/2 weeks without a fridge I had an important dinner party planned for tonight but because I still don't have a fridge I have to move it to a restaurant, where it's going to cost me 3 times as much for food no nearly as good as mine A week ago they gave me $300 for my inconvenience today when I went to get my money back that was taken off. The first is a review on the South Common location. my laptop is on the verge of crapping out so I walked into Best Buy South Common and started looking at laptops. I was looking at the memory available, whether it would take SD card or just flash drive. Had bought what I thought was an inexpensive one from same location couple months ago and had piss all for memory, basically a tablet and not happy with it. Sales girl approaches and asks if I need help, No thank you just looking. She immediately tries to steer me from $500-$600 laptops over to the $2000+ laptops. I told her "no, cant afford those" but she kept pushing so I just walked out. So couple days later I go to Best Buy off 17st and Whitemud. Within a minute, a sales girl approached and I told her just looking, walked out of different location due to high pressure sales so she left me alone. I found one I liked and a male salesperson approached so I said I wanted that laptop, a $500 HP touch screen. Immediately he tries to upsell, but I said i'm on a tight budget. So then he starts trying to sell me warranty and set up fees and it's "complicated" to set up. I told him that if I cant figure it out then it's not worth owning and I'm on a tight budget. So then he's trying to sell me a printer... WTF do you people not F**king understand? When a customer says no, they are on a budget or do not want something, DO NOT try to upsell or push more stuff. I ended up telling him I was uncomfortable and leaving, so I left that store without purchasing anything and am hesitant to return. So by trying to upsell and make a bigger sale, they lost out on sales twice! And, I am very unsure about stepping foot into a Best Buy again to buy a TV, stereo, cell phone or anything else due to the high pressure sales. The only good thing I have to say is that Mahrur was a pleasure to talk to. I phoned regarding the replacement of my hard drive and the Geek I talked to said that I wasn't able to find out what kind of hard drive I had just by searching my PC but would have to remove the cover from my tower instead. I phoned Memory Express and they confirmed my belief about locating the information on the computer. (under device manager) If this is the level of competence in that store, I don't think I want them looking after my computer or any other device for that matter. I am a hands on shopper and like to test, listen and see a product before I buy. when this store was future shop the staff was pushy and aggressive, now you can stand their for literally twenty minutes with no help at all. they didn't even fix the product displays from the old store. I went their to buy a wireless speaker and three of the displays were broken and the one staff I had to find and drag across the store new nothing about their product. the tags on the racking were even placed wrong. the guy was trying so I can only blame management for poorly informed staff. Worst customer service ever. We were interested in purchasing a smart watch and my boyfriend wanted to talk to someone about the difference in models. We stood by the watches for at least 10 minutes and then thought, maybe we should go near the cell phones, maybe there we'd get service. No such luck. He ended up circling the store banging on the security box and not a single soul questioned what was up. Granted that's not the best way to get attention, but it seems that Best Buy prefers to spend money on security boxes instead of employees. Future shop has generally served me well for electronics, video games, movies, and so on. As the only electronics store close enough for me to walk to, I was naturally drawn to it. I found the staff generally pretty helpful, and their selection pretty vast for movies, and seasons of TV shows. A pretty decent video game selection, plenty to browse. The staff are generally pretty patient, and helpful, although I had trouble with one guy who thought I said "Skylanders" after I said "Skyrim" at least three times. But that's a pretty minor complaint, I would recommend this future shop to anyone! read more
