In May of 2025 I purchased a Samsung tablet from Best Buy Ithaca. In February of 2026 it started to malfunction. Since I am a Geek Squad subscriber I had an extended warranty on the tablet. I took it to the Ithaca store where I was initially told it would have to be sent to Samsung for repair and there would be a $49 charge. I paid the charge and the tablet was returned 2 weeks later. After another 2 weeks it malfunctioned again. I returned to the store and was told I would have to pay another $49 to have it sent out for repair again. After a brief discussion I was referred to a manager who approved waiving the second $49 charge. 2 weeks later I received a message that the unit could not be repaired and it would be replaced. I went to the store to obtain the replacement but due to their system being down I was told to return in a few days. A few days later they still could not give me a replacement but I was told that I would obtain credit for the faulty unit and I could purchase a replacement and as soon as their system allowed the credit they would call me. After several days and not receiving a call, I went to the store again. they told me the person(s) I needed to see were not there but they would call me. No call so I returned to the store again. Same result...right person(s) not there but they would call me. Still no call so yesterday I went online trying to call the store. Was told they could not connect me to the store but promised I would receive a call back by 5 PM EDT yesterday. Still no call. read more

We went there to buy a projector and screen. It seems like it's more of a catalog store than a regular store with employees. It was EMPTY and absent of employees except at the front to check out. Giving off late days of Radio Shack. I guess if you need something basic, and need no help their business model for ithaca can work. But it just feels so sad and abandoned - seems barely open. read more

I was there a few weeks ago looking to buy medium quality stereo receiver (I ended up buying a Macintosh but not from them). I don't know why the store exists. I mean it does have stock, but not a lot. One sales rep that I asked for help pointed to the boxes on the shelves overhead. It could be up there she said Other reviews are correct, the store is gray and empty of employees. I think a cooperate America does not know what to do with brick and mortar stores anymore. Right? What else could be the answer. Why would Best Buy maintain that store in such a state if they knew what to do? A little bit of advertising, a little bit of wise purchasing and that store could be a winner. Too bad. Not everybody has the time or inclination to wait until a Internet store can ship them their products. But they don't do that they, won't do that, they refuse to do that..... why why why? read more

They sell phones, but they, themselves HAVE no phone. You cannot call them at the store to ask even a simple question. Incredible. It's so rude. You can call a phone number but that connects you to a call center abroad where they tell you that you cannot call the store. EVER. They have no phone. You have to GO to the store to ask your question. read more

I've been trying to reach Best Buy by phone to get an answer to a simple question without having to drive all the way there. Just want to know if the have something I am looking for in the store. Their phone menu system is useless. I've been on hold for twenty minutes. None of the categories to choose from on the phone menu pertain to what I need. It seems there is no one to answer the damn phone. Blood pressure boiling. I give up. The heck with them. I'll get what I'm looking for elsewhere. read more

Shockingly the only Best Buy within a 30 mile radius. It's appropriately sized for the Ithaca/Tompkins County area, not large but comprehensive enough for the local market. Important: buyers beware, they do not sell Apple computers or laptops here! All in all, the store layout is organized for easy navigation and there are dozens of sales associates willing to offer assistance... sometimes they can be annoying like roaches. read more

I knew what I wanted to buy--an Apple Watch--and knew they had it in stock. Waited 15 mins for the employee to finish his conversation about apps with a guy who did not buy anything, only to have said employee ask me what I wanted to then take a call that lasted another 10 mins. I asked to have someone else to help, but one guy after the other was unavailable. The young employees here are nice but clueless as to what they should prioritize, and the rest: old, overweight, rude and lazy men who will kill retail before they die. Just wasted an hour there. I paid for a replacement plan that no longer exist because Apple purchased Beats. The system doesn't know how to accept it. While the customer service representatives were very good and apologetic, no one could help me. I really appreciate their efforts Michelle and Deb but I left very unsatisfied with no new earphones and I paid for a plan to have them replaced. Just a waste of money. read more

Customer service here was not great. I purchased a hp laptop here and had the store order the laptop from big flats. When I went in for pick up, they told me the shipment got delayed and they "forgot" to send me the email telling me it was delayed. When I checked my email, the email said the new date that I can pick up it up on was three days before the first pick up date. All staff were indifferent (and even combative) about the need to correct the error in their own company's website, which referred me to this location for a repair that it could not perform, thus wasting a big chunk of my time. 2 for 2. Both trips here to purchase office supplies and there is not one cashier open. Had to go to Customer Service to check-out. Lot's of "blue shirts" walking around the store talking about their own plans, but offering no help. Also, used to get a discount purchasing ink for the office, they took that away. Won't return as their "Best Buy" prices are now higher than everyone else! read more

I purchased a computer and software. I purchased the tech support. The new Asus computer with Windows 8. There are problems with software and back ups not working . Printer not working completely They are not willing to make an appointment to sit down with me to go over the new computer, but they are willing to drive to my home for a price. I went in with 5 different issues regarding my computer and left with absolutely none of them addressed. He just kept kicking the can down the road. I have a computer that I cannot back up. I have a printer that works with only certain programs, I have error messages that shut down my computer, my hard drive that is new would not work on the computer and I am told it is the hard drive. I believe the computer damaged my hard drive. I asked him to at least load my new software for my new camera on the computer and he couldn't even do this. I had the camera, disk and all attachments right there. My tech support covers software installations. I left with nothing done. I will not buy anything from Best Buy again. No wonder they are on the skids. They are all happy to sell you stuff but you want support!!! Sorry, good luck to you. read more
