My wife bought me a Garmin for my pickup as a gift. When I received it, I told her I had asked for a larger one, so she took it back to Best Buy. They allowed her to return it, but they did not have the model I wanted so she went elsewhere for that. They promised to refund her money to her debit card. A few months went by, and she returned there to ask what had happened to her refund. They told her they had no record of the return and there were no extra Garmins in the store. She only had the sales receipt but not the return receipt. The manager she spoke with said she would research it and call her back within two days. It has now been several weeks and there has been no call back. So they just stole our money. read more

I have been looking for a new galaxy tablet and decided to buy one at best buy. I asked for help and was told someone would be there right away, didn't happen. Asked again for help, didn't happen again. Employees standing around in groups chatting but I couldn't get help. Went home and ordered from Amazon. I will never step inside their store again. Sales people are fine, what you expect. What has happened two times now is there are no cashiers available or willing to help. Also had two managers in the middle of the front area who said someone will come, but as I am waiting for someone, no one comes and the managers just look at me and then keep talking to each other, not going to look for someone to help. After a min or so (second time happened so I didn't wait too long) I put my card down for my product and walked out. Managers just talking to each other and didn't care. The staff is pretty friendly, if not the most knowledgeable (but how often do you meet true tech geek employees that really know their stuff?) But yeah, there's tons of sales so the prices can be average or amazing. If you watch an item and check it online you can often catch it on sale and save a lot. There's also tons of refurbished items on their website as well. Many good deals to be had. If you compare prices to Walmart for example Best Buy pretty much always wins thanks to sales. They're even comparable to Amazon, but without the risk of getting a fake item. Their online store does have third party sellers though, but I've seen them remove some of the bad ones. So just be weary of those. The few returns I've had to do were painless as well. Even when the people who worked there couldn't figure out what went wrong with an order they still took care of the entire thing. They sent it back for me, free of charge and gave me a refund. I've been shopping there for over a decade now. Staples has a decent selection in comparison but doesn't match it in sales. The Source doesn't have a lot to choose from, or good prices. The sales at Best Buy are too good to pass up. I've bought TVs, tablets, laptops, phones, a dishwasher, monitor, GPU, games, hard drives, memory cards, everything under the sun from them. One of the only things I don't buy from them is adaptors and cables. The ones from eBay are sufficient most of the time and much cheaper. read more

I bought $5000 worth of appliances and won't shop at Best Buy again for anything. Although the employees are nice, they don't seem to have much training. Fridge came with door opening the wrong way... (sales clerk didn't ask about this when ordering) Door opening side can be switched on my fridge and when I phoned to ask about it, it was a long process of finding out that I would have to pay. Calling for a quote, I was transferred to 4 different people in the Geek Squad (no one answered phone in store on 2 separate mornings). Each transfer left me on hold and the new person started again with beginning info. The final lady, who gave me a price, looked it up for a long time and quoted both $40 and $200. The fridge also came with an extremely tight fit into my space (I had taken the measurements to the store on ordering); the cupboard above fridge now does not fully open. Apparently, I need to know the bulk size of the fridge rather than just the size of the fridge that I am ordering; unfortunately the clerk doesn't know that. I purchased a stacking washer/ dryer and the plug cord did not reach to the dryer plug that my previous stacking set plugged in to. Phoning and talking to a nice lady in charge of complaints/ concerns farther up the chain, I was told I could buy an extension cord. Turns out, this is not true and if it were, would not meet code requirements. The washer dryer does not vent outside but the dryer vents into the washer. To hook that up, I was quoted $190 over the phone, even if they would already be coming to change the door on my fridge. The only solution I was offered for any of it was to return the items within 30 days. I wasn't keen on this since I had been without appliances for almost a month. I think it would be cheaper for the company to deal with the problems rather than come and pick up the items. Also, they said that if I returned, I wouldn't be able to return the warranties that I had purchased. Overall, I have spent a lot of time on the phone as well as about 8 hours in the store when I originally ordered (trying to make the right decision before the sale ended), I'd rather pay more or take the sale price to a smaller store that will answer the phone and have information. On a good note, I only had to plug the stove in and all is well there. read more

This is a store in very poor state. Hey get a 0/10 from me in terms of customer service. Very few helpful and knowledgeable employees. Went to check out and there were no cashiers present. Had to put my items down and leave without them. Hugely frustrating that they muck about between future shop and best buy. What a waste of time and money... We have a huge best but building here in nanaimo sitting unused... So we are left with wandering his former future shop with employees with no knowledge or the desire to Help a client. This business will not last Do not purchase here, as I imagine they will not be around for more than a year. Hugely disappointing. I can't sum it up better than that. read more

Got a new Samsung s21 3 weeks ago, phone has locked up, went into the store in Nanaimo spoke we a guy named Lyle, All he kept saying that we put a pass word in , Trying telling him no, he has been doing this for 5 years so obviously he knows everything, cant do any thing for us, asked to see manager he's not in till Thursday and this was Sunday he wouldn't do anything for me anyway he said Great attitude , My only recourse is to figure it out my self , or pay off the tab that i just stared 3 weeks ago and get a new phone and throw this one out. Definitely agree with how much this place has gone down hill. The service sucks but it's kinda of the way it goes when it comes to the big box stores with brainless zombies working! Like most people I do my homework before I go into the store cause I want to be left alone. Sales people provided incorrect information trying to get my mom to purchase things she could not even use. Tried to go on one of their display computers to go on www.bestbuy.ca to quickly find the correct product but they no longer have internet on any of the computers in store (my guess is to stop comparison shoppers). At the checkout the clerk asked for my moms e-mail address for her receipt. Had to stop her and explain that if she gives them her e-mail she also just agreed to receive all their spam e-mail. I dont think any of my complaints are against this particular bestbuy as all bestbuys read more

Went in to buy a buy of Bowers and Wilkins headphones a while back that, unbeknownst to me, happened to be on clearance. When I could not see one on the shelf I asked for help and after an extensive search none could be found so I was instead asked if I would like another pair and if so they'd give me a discount. Needless to say I got a fantastic price on a different pair of headphones that were full price. I believe it was the "precinct chief" of the geek squad that authorized the significant discount and I was blown away by the act. 5/5 will come back as much as possible. read more
