I went to Best Buy on Merivale Rd and had great help buying a dishwasher. It was late when we arrived but they went out of there way to help us bring it home in our vehicle. A store manager Pratik gave us a good price and directed staff to protect the machine. We would go back before going elsewhere. Sometime later in the month I went to buy the Fitbit sense and Mo help me choose the best watch for me. Pratik helped with getting me the best price. I went to the Best Buy Merivale Rd location on Monday , I purchased a TV , a laptop and a Geek squad membership for a total of $1843.and change. I waited patiently while a young lady and young man ( best buy and Geek squad uniforms respectively)struggled with processing the order at that P.O.S system. During this laborious exercise I informed them I wanted both items delivered to my home and set up. I was assured this would be possible. Yesterday I received a phone call telling me I could pick up the laptop. I informed the caller there was to be a data transfer , so today I drove to the store to drop off my old laptop. I was told I will have to return to pickup both when the transfer is complete. I told them it was to be delivered I was informed that would not be possible. At that point the Geek squad manager was called he told me to follow him to "Customer service " there is a reason it's written in parentheses. On the way I told him to hold off on the data transfer as I would return the items if they would not honour their employees verbal commitment. I was told I could not return the laptop. Now to the manager she let me know they could not do as I asked and I couldn't return the TV either. She seemed to think giving me a tracking number was a good solution. (I foolishly stormed off without taking it). On returning to the Geek squad counter I tried to explain the concept of customer service to the chief Geek, needless to say he didn't get it. On expressing my frustration and disappointment with the lack of service I was repeatedly told "I'm sorry you feel that way " I took this as a polite version of F you. Though as I was leaving he told me to "have a nice day " I asked how he thought that might be possible. I forgot to mention when I first arrived at the Geek squad counter no one was there, as you may have gathered from the tone of this review there is no chance I will use this store in the future. I remain a missed off ex customer. I begrudgingly gave a one star review as I didn't see zero or any negative numbers. I have never before been this moved to write a store review. I don't like Best Buy's customer service. How is it they always make me feel like I'm stealing something? Whether I'm just browsing or looking for a specific item, same thing. However, when you want to ask a question the associates are difficult to find. Finally, I find that BB is useful to purchase initial big ticket items, but I dont have a lot of hope in straight product knowledge aside from what I can already read for myself. Of course, this is all brand complaints. I have had 1 reasonable conversation with an associate at this particular location which made me believe she really was a person and not a robot. read more

My sister and I stopped by here today to find her a new laptop, and only spent about 15 minutes in the store. The selection was dismal, and the staff didn't seem to be willing to help at all. We were looking for an Asus or Macbook, and didn't see any on display which I found quite weird. We saw a ton of Sonys (which are being discontinued in the next 6 months or so) and a lot of tablet-laptop hybrids, but nothing caught our eye. No one asked us for help or even greeted us. Too bad Best Buy...we had money to burn! I've noticed that the service here has really gone downhill in the past few years, and since then I've been shopping almost exclusively at Canada Computers or Future Shop across the street. read more

I am more then satisfied with the exceptional degree to which the staff there helped me with a US Best Buy return they technically didn't need to honor. They were helpful understanding and went above and beyond to help me when they didn't have to at all. I wish I could remember the names of those that helped, but I remember Dave the regional manager all the way down to the associate Melanie, and 2 other women I can't remember their names. So close to perfect, but one manager away from working. Bought dishwasher at BB Merivale. Ordered the install package which included removal of old DW and recycling. About a day or two later, I started to get calls asking to confirm my delivery date. About 3 or 4 calls, actually, in all. I thought "fine", at least it won't be missed. Then I got a call from the installer (a third party) to confirm install date for the day after delivery. Before delivery, got 2 or 3 additional robocalls from BB to confirm, telling me to make sure I had completely dismantled and moved the old "appliance". I now believe this is a generic instruction for something like a washer or dryer. Removing a dishwasher is trickier, and requires messy electrical disconnect. This is why I paid for the install package. Delivery arrived OK on time. But I was so nervous about the calls that I went to the store the day before install was scheduled and talked to a young lady at the desk. She was very professional and understanding, but an officious manager interrupted our adult discussion and frantically shouted "You ordered "installation", not removal!" He then directed the young person to print out the receipt, which she was in the process of doing anyway. I took his intervention as confirmation that the situation was screwed up, and prepared to dig in. He eventually discovered that I had, indeed, purchased the install and removal package and said, no problem, everything will be OK. I waited half the following day (scheduled for install) and nothing happened so I phoned the store. A different (but equally professional young lady - I think she had had training in dealing with nervous old crocks) was very pleasant and said she would call the installer and sort things out. She did. Later the installer called me, and it turned out that "a manager" had altered the entry for my delivery, so it now read "unassigned", which means action is somehow pending. It's a mystery why the customer and the installer had perfect communication, and someone at the store arbitrarily screwed up weeks of careful planning by messing with the bureaucratic paperwork. So, all in all, here's the summary: Store appearance excellent as they are apparently first in the city to be "re-done". Based on my experience and some other yelp reviews I've read, they are still working on customer service. They seem to have some bad managers. The non-management staff were very pleasant and respectful, the manager, in my story, was aggressive and careless. This may not mean anything for your purchase, because the background system seems to be very efficiently built.. It's too bad that everything collapses when incompetence rears it's head. Now I must wait another day, but I have rearranged with the installer who seems quite capable, too. So, lost a day, but I'm retired. If I had taken the day off, I would be furious. It's not so much the time, it's that EVERYTHING else about this purchase went very smoothly. It was a BB manager's interference that frustratingly erased the best efforts of many people. read more

I would only recommend Best Buy, and particularly this location, if you already know exactly what you are in to get and you either can't find it anywhere else or the anywhere else is out of your way. The latter is usually the case for me and was on this day as it is across the street from me and right next to one of the three grocery stores that encompass my neighbourhood. Rarely does staff offer assistance and when they do they wander off to go check a computer that seems to take forever (especially when you consider that this is an electronic store so they should be equipped with better tools) or their mythical "The Back" only for me to have found the thing before they get back in one of their "featured displays" which is just code for "we put it somewhere you would never think to find it based on the normal layout of the store", or decide it's just easier to order it online and have someone bring it to my door tomorrow. read more

They have good deals on computers, but heaven forbid you ever need their 'Geek Squad' to fix something you bought there ... They lack knowledge, competency, and ability and although they won't admit it to you when you give them a product, it will likely have to be sent away to be fixed (which means weeks or months of waiting). Use it to by cheap electronics, but their warrantees are not much use, in my opinion. read more

I was extremely disappointed with the customer service at this location. I went in to buy a tablet, I had a couple of questions first. When I got there, there was no one in the computer section. I waited for a little bit to see if someone came by. After about 7 min I saw a woman and went to ask her, she stopped me mid sentence and said "sorry I only work with Apple products exclusively" and walked away from me. Awesome, we are off to a great start Best Buy! I decided to walk through the store until I found another employee to ask for help, finally found two young women in the mobile section, asked them if they could help me with tablets, or direct me to someone who could. They both seemed pretty confused and finally one went on her radio and asked for assistance. She told me to go back to the computer section and someone would help me shortly. They then turned away and continued their conversation. Fantastic. I returned to the computers section and with still no one in sight decided to just wait a few more minutes, after all the mobile girl had interrupted her very important gossip session to radio for me, it was the least I could do. After about 15 minutes of awkwardly standing around a guy appears slightly out of breath to ask me if "you the one who needs help?". So charming. I said yes, I had a few questions about this tablet and pointed to the one I wanted. He seemed extremely annoyed and even rolled his eyes when I asked how well this one worked in comparison to an iPad which I had owned previously. He then proceeded to tell me that obviously I should just buy an iPad because I had had one before and it would be easier for me. I felt so smart. He then walked over to the iPads leaving me at the other display and continued talking quickly about how I could still use my apps and play games etc. Clearly he had decided this was all I was interested in. He then told me I should buy this one, slapped the price sign down in front of me and said "well?" Now that I was throughly irritated I said "no thank you, I don't really want an iPad. I will think about the other one though" He then groaned loudly and ran off. I stood there for a minute not sure if what had just happened was real or if I had just imagined it. Then I left the store and walked to the Future Shop where a nice employee came to help me within 5 min of me getting to the tablet section. I bought my tablet and left the store within 15 min. Never in my life have I ever been treated so condescendingly or impatiently as I was in this Best Buy. I will never shop at this location or any other Best Buy again. I would be ashamed if these people were my employees!!! I'm not a moron or some waste of time. I am a student in my 20's, a customer in your store who is going to spend money, who is being polite and has a few questions. But you treat me like I am the biggest inconvenience in the world. read more

Went to this best buy with 450 dollars in my wallet, looked at laptops and tablets for 45 minutes and not even ONCE did anyone offer to assist me. they did however try to sell an elderly man a MacBook Pro and assisted the same couple about four times. Ordered a guitar that was on sale but not in stock before Christmas. Since it was a very good deal I was still pleased when it came on in during the first week in January. Unfortunately, the instrument was unplayable ( I could not figure out how to fix it) and was advised to bring it back. They were prepared to order me a new one, and I was having doubts about buying this through Best Buy, until the customer service person asked if It would be OK for one of their staff to look at the guitar first. That was fine since I was anxious to try it. She called for Scott to come, and he was there in a moment, looked at the instrument, determined what was wrong, used an Allen key that came with the instrument and made the required adjustment, then tuned the guitar an it was ready to go. At home it sounded wonderful. That is the kind of service that suggests to me that Best Buy is serious about adjusting to the new retail world.
