When I lived in Rochester, this Best Buy was less than a five-minute drive from my home. Back then, I had opened a Best Buy credit card, which helped finance a desktop computer. Before the pandemic, I had been using Roam Mobility, which provided convenient talk, text, and data services aimed at Canadians who travel to the States. When the border between the two countries was shut down to travellers, Roam Mobility folded. During this trip, I needed to get a SIM to get talk, text, and data services. While in Rochester, I decided to check out my old local Best Buy and see if I could find something that fit my needs. Luckily, there are a number of cell phone providers that don't lock you into plans. I found a SIM with a provider that I liked and decided to purchase it. I did some browsing around while I was here. The store's exterior looks the same. As expected, I didn't recognize a thing inside. I loved that there were accessories from my Google Pixel 4a 5G phone at this store. It also had a rower that looked so fancy with a screen and tons of workout routine options. The checkout is off to the left when you first walk into the store. I had a nice man help me pay for my SIM. It was straightforward tapping with my credit card to complete my purchase. Later on that evening, I activated my SIM online. It was easy with the provider that I went with. Some US portals are difficult for Canadians to enter credit card information with a Canadian address. I do have a workaround. You can register your credit card, but need to enter the numbers in your postal code as the first three digits in the ZIP code field, followed by two zeroes. It has worked for me on a few US-based apps, such as BPme for gas. However, if the portal is a stickler for selecting a state from the dropdown options, this workaround may not work well. I am pleased that I can stay connected with my new SIM and prepaid plan that's flexible and suits my needs. It was definitely easier to compare and contrast what SIMs were available at this Best Buy. And then when I was helped the lady told me there was nothing they could do about it but told me it's probably the battery. But she didn't tell me what kind of battery my laptop needed?? And told me that I would need to buy the battery myself and they couldn't look it up for me or have it sent to the store. And she even tried selling me a new laptop and sounded like she did not want to be there. Let me start off by saying that I would give this store ZERO starts if it was an option. Every single employee i encountered was useless. I went in to set up an appointment to get some speakers installed. Upon arrival the first time I was instructed to go to the back of the store where the speakers were and someone would be right there to help, I waited and waited and waited for someone to come help and about 20 minutes later I believe HIS/HIM/THEY ( SAGE) was able to begin the process of setting up an appointment to come get the speakers installed. I told them the speakers I wanted installed but they would have to order them as they did not have any at the moment. I set up the appointment for today at 6. I specifically asked if there was anything I needed to do before then and Sage told me no. So I arrived today about 45 minutes early to make sure I was not late. Upon arrival i walked up to a young man I believe his name was Mohammed and he told me to pull around back and he would open the door so I could pull my car in. I sat and sat and sat and the door never opened grrrrrr. I park my car and go back inside and approach him and he was "can i help you." I was like "yea man you were supposed to open the door I have been sitting outside waiting for you and his was response was "my bad". (absolutely useless individual) I sit down and the guy who is going to install the speakers comes up to me and asks if I have the speakers which my reply was "No, i was told they would be here with everything I need to get these installed" Well my friends guess what none of the parts i needed were there of course! I took off work, rescheduled my life, to be jerked around by a bunch of incompetent idiots! I obviously will NEVER EVER do business with this store again and I am telling everyone I know in Rochester to not do business here either and my friends I KNOW A LOT OF PEOPLE! Policies are no reason to be super rude. Tried to buy tax exempt for our non profit. I understand systems are online etc but the first time most sellers allow for a tax exemption if you have the paperwork. The main issue is how they told me to call corporate and complain and they would not try to help at all. In fact, they are breaking state law by not accommodating legal tax paperwork. I went to this store to purchase a high end flat screen Television! My sales associate could have cared less in terms of assisting me! Was almost like I was an inconvenience! Had very little product knowledge! My first three selections were not in stock! I decided to order the TV and have their Geek Squad deliver it an set it up! All for a charge of course! Transaction was completed when I was informed that my address was outside their service area! I ordered the TV and paid by check! The check cleared on 2/10/2025! I picked up the TV on Tuesday, February 11th from the store! When I got home, I noticed that a second withdrawal had been made from my checking account In the exact same amount of time! Called the store to discuss the issue! This took four phone calls before I got someone who could speak fluent English! I was told that what I was describing could not possibly happen! I asked to speak to the store manager and was informed that they don't take calls from customers! This transaction is still pending as they owe me $2700 dollars! I used to buy things at Best Buy in other states, but this time I ordered replacements for computer equipment that failed at the same time when I was working on a tight deadline. I chose same-day delivery so I could work all night, get the job done, and get paid. Best Buy assured me by phone multiple times that it was on its way to my house that very moment. Though I don't live far away, I was injured and couldn't drive, so it was on them to get it here. I lost thousands of dollars by not getting my project done on time because the items did not arrive when promised. In my subsequent calls, various personnel gave me wildly conflicting stories, some clearly fabricated. Even the website disagrees, but there were errors in the delivery status on the website, too. So, my money will be tied up for at least 20 days as a result of them, and I had to fight to get the order canceled after multiple workers said they would cancel it. I'm exhausted, thousands of dollars poorer, and for what? At one point, they told me I had to take delivery whenever they got it to me and then return it rather than canceling the order as had been promised. Nope. I was informed numerous times that my delivery of my appliance would be between 7 AM and 7 PM today. At 6:30 this morning I was reminded that I had an install today. I lost 12 hours today waiting and no one came When I finally called at 6 PM they informed me that there was a delay and they were unable to do the install. that is totally unreasonable. They also informed me that I had been notified which was completely untrue. We saw a mini refrigerator being advertised for a very decent price online and decided to check-out the selection. My husband saw a model that he wanted and someone was able to quickly help and see if they did indeed have that model in stock. Sure enough minutes later the guy came back with the exact model and color we wanted. The price rang up as it should and the guy even helped up load the refrigerator in our car. We have had the refrigerator for over six months now and have not been disappointed. It was very easy to set-up, just plug it in, haha! The refrigerator got cold right away and with its adjustable shelves you can fit several different types of drinks inside. All in all, the prices here were very reasonable, I would definitely recommend looking here for large appliances and TVs before buying elsewhere online. read more

Was just in here a few minutes ago, and left without anything due to the lack of help. I waited patiently for someone to come over to the computer area, and when they didn't I kindly asked a worker if they could send someone over so that I could buy a computer. He had a cane so I didn't want him to have to walk to the other side of the store, he said he'd call someone over to the area. I waited quite a bit of time and no one came over, but saw at least a group of four workers socializing. Took my computer to the geek squad April 7. I was advised to buy a service plan and I agreed as the cost was going to be at least the $200 for them to do a diagnostic. I was told any issues I had for the next year with the service plan would be dealt with. I was told my computer was fixed and verified with the device manager on it and they validated the repair and they called me two days later to pick it up. Three days later I had the same issue and was able to get it running on my own but I did call them and let them know about it. They said I would not need an appointment to come back in just to have it looked at and I said I would do that soon. It is now April 26 the computer is having the same issues as before. I took it back into the store. At first I was told that they were booked up until 6 PM. When I let them know that I had a service contract someone looked at it momentarily as the keyboard was not working. They said it would just need to be sent into the main company and they would have my computer up to two months before they could get to it. If I did not want to wait that long or go through the expense that I could just go talk to one of the Associates in a blue shirt. Told them I did not have time to computer shop today. When I got home I tried calling Best Buy and was put on hold for 15 minutes for a manager and then I was disconnected without talking to said manager. I called again and someone else that was not even from that store, but said he was the best buy operator told me no one was taking calls at that store and if I wanted to speak with someone I would have to physically go into the store. The first fellow we asked for help basically just told us "to get lost" He was not interested in helping us; nor in finding anyone else to do so. We then found a gal who did come over. It was obvious that She didn't know anything about the phones. I specifically asked if there was anyone available that was familiar with telephones. She said that She and the other Associate were the only ones. Why have a product on your shelf if there is no available to explain it. I understand that people cannot know everything about all of the products. However, perhaps more training is needed. Secondly, we went to the Geek Squad. On your Best Buy Website You offer a "Home Tech" service whereby a Geek Squad member would could to our Home to assist provide assist in what we need; help in product set-up, etc. We were advised that due to the COVID situation. They were not able to provide this service. Well, then why are You advertising that You do. Why wouldn't you change Your website to say "Not Available at this Time" Why make us drive 20 minutes to Your store, only to be informed the product You have on Your Store Website actually isn't available. I called to try and talk to the Manager. After waiting 15 minutes I talked to a "Customer Service Representative" He provided absolutely NO service, and disconnected my call ! My mother recently ordered an LG washer and dryer from this store and purchased an install. While she found the in-store associates very kind and pleasant, she was extremely displeased with her installation experience. Last Saturday she had a follow up install appointment and the people never showed up. This was a waste of her day, since she was given a very long window of time during which to expect the servicers to arrive. She waited at home all day for nothing. To make matters worse, she had received multiple texts confirming the appointment the day before AND on the day of the no show. She subsequently called and complained to a store associate who was very kind and refunded the installation fee. Nonetheless, she is still very unhappy with her experience. I am a very good Best Buy Customer who uses the Geek Squad for all our technical needs. We have been highly satisfied with the service until now. Our TV had burn in that was diagnosed in May. After following recommended action the entire panel was replaced in July. After installation when we turn the TV on the sound comes on but no picture. We have to climb up a ladder, reach behind the TV, unplug and plug it back in and the picture comes back on. We have been talking to customer service about this for over a week, beginning August 4, and have not received the promised call back from the field manager. NEVER BUY APPLIANCES FROM BEST BUY!!! Bought a new Samsung stove, refrigerator and over-the-counter microwave from Best Buy on Black Friday. Was happy with the products and the sales price. Was OK with the 3 week delay for delivery as well, but the install process has been a 2 week nightmare. Delivery of the fridge happened as scheduled on Dec 21st. Went fine, except for the broken hinge part that I'm still trying to get them to fix. The stove was scheduled to be delivered the next day, Thursday the 22nd. No show, but I did finally reach the store (after 1.5 hours on the phone) and they swore it would be delivered with the microwave the next MORNING on Friday the 23rd. Friday came and went. Spend HOURS trying to reach someone who could help, but no luck. Finally someone called, said the delivery truck "was in a ditch" but that they would come by the end of the day. No show. So we limped through Christmas with our old half-functional stove. My wife took over as "good cop" on the phone, as she thought I might stroke out after an hour trying to reach these idiots. By the end she was screaming. We got a call promising early delivery January 2nd. It's afternoon, and I'm still waiting. Have disputed the charge with AMEX. If they don't arrive today, I will rebuy from another shop at a higher price, and instruct them to leave the appliances for Best Buy by the side of the road. I never come out of this place with a good feeling. The guys that work there are constantly trying to upsell you and none of them seem that knowledgeable except when it comes to the protection plan. I suppose this is common practice for a few businesses, but I had tried to cancel my order twice, but the second time I had tried to cancel it due to another online business price matching it, they had shipped it out without my consent. Normally this would sort've irritate me, but the item shipped and arrived in 1 day, and they offered free shipping too.
