While traveling we ended up at the Best Buy in Spokane. THE SERVICE: well this is hard to explain...(coming from California) because EVERYONE and I mean EVERYONE at the store was soooo NICE. From the moment we walked in the front door people had smiles and they connected to customers as people walked in the door (for whatever reason in California connecting and smiling is not always the goal when it comes to service) The store has great selection and good sales. Has vastly slimmed down their DVD and media section. Good if you want to buy a new phone, but not great for other tech stuff. Has also slimmed down their Instax camera selection, to the point it's cheaper and easier to find film at the Walmart down the road. The selection and value that they have for their headphones, specifically the beat headphones, is amazing! I recently lost a pair of wireless headphones for over a year and IN MY YARD! I placed a curbside order through the website, as I have a 2 year old with me and would rather NOT go in a store if don't have to! I parked in the designated area, checked in on the app.. and waited. We bought a LG refrigerator at this store and payed almost $300.00 for the 5 year extended warranty. It died after 3 years. They sent out two different repairmen both said there is nothing they could do. So we wasted two days waiting on them not to mention the many many frustrating hours spent on the phone with LG. So I bought a clearance laptop. Saved 120 bucks. Woo. I'd rather have paid it and be working on my laptop. But instead Best Buy didn't actually keep the laptop in stock. I was quoted 3 days days for this. Assured by 3 people it would arrive on day 3. Well that came and went. So now I have to wait until somewhere between Feb 28th to March 11th. So since this is an unacceptable time frame I called their 800 number. To be put into "let's transfer him" OR Hang Up and Not call me back. Why in the hell did you verify my number if you weren't gonna call back. Not once. Not twice. But now 7 times and still counting. Hell the supervisors don't even call back. I was also told that since the item is in the shipping process. Because I didn't take into account that HP would have to build this clearance laptop from scratch. I was actually told I can't cancel or do a refund until the product arrives. Whenever the hell that would be. Now. They could have made this right. Kennewick has 8 of these laptops. And they could have over nighted one. To make this whole issue a wash. Buy NO that's to easy. Why should the customer get the product they paid for. And receive it on the time Best Buy Quoted ME. I needed a charger for my computer. I was battling through a mental issue caused by stress overload. Customer service directed me to a wall of chargers. After I said I was blinding from age I was made to wait only to be informed by the store manager that what I needed was not carried in-store. I later reasoned the why...to get the specific charger I would need to contact HP. They did in store sell a universal charger that would work for a cost. Pennies, in my mind started to add up, thus my conclusion for why the first thing our of the 'sales manager' led with "we don't carry the charger you need." My stress filled with the we don't carry that in store resulting in an increase of my volume caused the manager to leave or he would call police. I called the next day and learned they wouldn't order 1...it's up to me. Remember when Best Buy used to be great? Yeah, Good times I bought a very expensive computer. They had my old one for over one day transferring the information. I was told they would install everything JUST like my old computer had on it! WRONG!! use Outlook as my e-mail program and for my contacts, Calendar with everything I have and all of the notes. Nothing was done! I use Chrome, None of my bookmarks were on my new computer. None of the pictures. Nothing. When I picked up the computer they opened up my new computer and I looked and saw that nothing was done. After a while they asked me if I had an appointment as there was other people waiting AND only one person working. I said no but I spent over $1000 on this computer and nothing was done! They sent me home with nothing on the new computer that was not only promised but I paid for it! I was on line for two hours the day I got it home with Geek Squad and another two hours the next day with Geek SquuS and No one seems to know what they are doing! When you contact Geek Squad you have NO Idea what country they are in but I can assure you that are NOT in America, They do not understand English!!! The last person just left everything open, everything he downloaded open and just quit! I had no idea!! Then, I decided to pay for someone from Geek Squad to come to my home. He was Incredible!!! He said I would get an e-mail so that I could review him. Of course I didn't did get. Best Buy should be very, very proud. Every time I visit Best Buy (probably twice a month) it is a stellar buying experience. Their staff are always johnny on the spot, and very well educated on what product they carry, and the functionality of everything. Most recently we visited Best Buy because my son was in need of a new "gaming" mouse. The young man that helped us spent the time to educate my son on what type of mouse to buy, and why it would serve his needs better. He actually sold us a cheaper mouse than what we intended on buying, and made us feel very confident in our purchase. I am yet to have a negative experience at best buy... always a great experience. And for a place I visit probably 30-40 times a year, that's impressive! If Best Buy is looking for how their stores are supposed to run... Do not use their installation dept the two guys they sent over installed a microwave witch took them 2 1/2 to 3 hours because they apparently did not have the right hardware and had to go to the store once and apparently to the installers house for something else they didn't have . When it was all said and done they had put in two longer screws which went into the pocket door , when Best Buy sent the wood guy as they called him it was the same knucklehead that came the first time and another knucklehead who when I said I was not satisfied with the repair started getting hostile and dropping the f bomb multiple times toward me telling me I signed a form releasing them from any responsibility and that the holes were already there. The last attempt I made I drove to the store only to find out no customers were allowed in the store. I hate this place so hard... General reasons I hate Best Buy: - Cords and peripherals are ungodly expensive (e.g., HDMI cables tend to run at least $20-$30 dollars, when you can pick up good ones online for less than $5). - No one works on commission. Sure, they don't try to sell you things you don't need, but they have no incentive to work with you and try and actually make you a deal. I trust people on commission substantially more. - Poorly stocked computer area. Don't attempt to find anything remotely modern for any reasonable price. Looking for a video card? Awful place to shop. - So many more I don't want to type. Specific reasons I hate this Best Buy: I needed a battery backup/uninterrupted power supply for my grandmother. As much as I was loathe to lower myself to shop here, they happened to have a good sale on. So I went there. I found exactly what I was looking for (shockingly quickly) and went to the register. After 5pm, store was quite busy, and ONE checkout lane open. Then, some douchenozzle (who didn't have the intelligence to ask ANYONE ELSE IN THE STORE) walks up and asks if they have some obscure movie in stock. The checker was entirely ignoring me, and everyone behind me, but at least she was really slow. Like it took her nearly five minutes to actually FIND the page on which she could search their inventory. All the while, she ignored everyone else and her primary job, which was checking people out. One of the worst Best buy stores I have ever been in. The Customer service desk is so unprofessional with the two female service people singing, laughing, everything but helping people. I heard an employee in the store refer to a customer as a "Retard". There is a young woman who is a HP rep in the store and the guys swarm around her rather than the customer. The store manager named Chris just walks around the store with his assistant in big circles. This guy is the store manager? what a joke... There is an Epson rep who is in the store . I hardly saw him near epson products and he and the HP rep talk constantly, although it looked like she was trying to avoid him. I've found the staff here helpful these past weeks I've come. Huge store. Kind of strange seeing it as of recent, for example their HDTV section seems skeletal in comparison to Black Friday. I think there's obvious reasons for that... The music and movie sections are 2 maybe 3 small rows. I had to order a blue ray and CD's online because they didn't have them in stock. The blue ray in particular posed a problem. For whatever reason it couldn't be shipped to the store, so I ordered it on my own. The kid trying to help me proceeded to tell me that all I needed was one with a 256 gig solid state hard drive, and started arguing with me about how that is enough, and that, having himself googled what a terabyte can hold, I didn't need a laptop with that capacity. I have been buying computer parts from businesses around Spokane over the course of the last few months, and Best Buy is easily and by a wide margin the worst option for purchasing computer parts. If you call asking about store stock, they will always - no matter what circumstance or product - tell you that there is "only one" in stock which is an obvious lie. No computer store only keeps 1 of the most baseline product in stock, it is just common sense. Additionally, you can only buy certain parts such as motherboards and video cards if you purchase it online ahead of time, which drives up the cost significantly. For example, if I were to buy an MSI B550 motherboard from Best Buy in town it would cost me roughly $217.00. Any other computer store in town would sell one for $159.99 plus tax (which is what is advertised on the best buy website). I don't know if this is a trend with all Best Buy businesses or just the ones in Spokane, but it seems like they thrive on creating an environment of false scarcity, and they profit off of their customers having a lack of technical know-how. There are plenty of other options in Spokane when in comes to buying computer parts. If you are looking, avoid Best Buy like the plague. They will waste your time on calls, intimidate and pressure you into purchases, and overcharge you by a significant amount. I cannot even reliably go to the store, ask for a product, then buy it. I am sure if you are buying basic things like headphones, cables, or other products it is a fine experience, but that is literally the bare minimum for a store to operate. She was upset and frustrated because she had spent exactly 27 minutes at this Best Buy looking at TVs and not a single employee asked if she needed help.
