After reading mixed reviews, I decided to try out Best Catch for myself. What a joke! Lazy AND rude makes for a pretty bad combo. They say they are open until 7pm, but when I arrived at 5:43pm, the door was locked, and the 3 employees inside shoo'd me away. I continued to try to ask why they were closing up, and pointed at the sign on the door saying 7pm, but rather than communicate to me - literally trying to give them money- they just continued to shoo me away. When I pulled out my phone to take a photo of the sign on the door and the two employees inside ignoring me, they both (asian and black guy) ducked away to not be photographed. If that's the kind of employees you have, i would NEVER trust them to safely handle seafood. Fresh, hot and delicious was the fish, shrimp and fries. the variety of fresh fish was surprisingly unexpected. Will be a regular custome.

My office ordered take out for lunch, and I was very impressed. The prices are very reasonable and the food was delish! The fries were heavily seasoned-- which I appreciate! I got the scallops, and was so surprised at how big they were and how many I got for $12! I usually eat smaller than average portions, but everyone said they had had enough for a whole other meal. Also- their hush puppies were notably good. They had pieces of corn inside and were a little sweet. Very tasty! The only thing that we didn't like was that no one was answering the phone, so we weren't able to call ahead, but this may have just been one time issue. This place I decided to try didn't have enough reviews . The food was fresh perfectly seasoned nice size portions. Everything was good except for the scallops. Anyone who knows a real scallops will know it has a certain taste and this just wasn't it . I went in for the first time not knowing everything was weigh out. I was asking the Asian guy and explaining to him it was my first time and he literally began arguing at me stating I was giving him a hard time. It was so embrassing of him to humiliate me in front of his workers which were all Black and also the customers. The workers we trying to explain to him that I only wanted to know how are you charge. He even went as far as saying he did not want to serve very loud in front of everyone. I will never go back to support this business. read more

I'm really not a fish eater, but when I do have a craving for a small taste of fish, I want it to look and taste like I see in the magazines. After reading the previous reviews and the pics, and they're right down the street from me, I thought to give them a try, and I'm glad I did. The fish was cooked and served like I requested and they did it with a smile. The taste was kinda fishy but favorable. Maybe I need to try another kind of fish. Great little shop to get both fried and fresh fish. We ordered fresh clams, snapper, and scallops. We also got fried oysters and hush puppies, both of which were well cooked. If you're looking to get fish uncooked, then I would suggest going when it's not dinner time. The parking lot is limited and gets crowded quickly. Best seafood in the Metro!!! All my family comes here to get fresh and fried seafood. Place is immaculate, clean and there is never a fishy smell when you walk in. I am from out of town and was in the area looking for fresh fish. Best Catch was highly rated and in the way home so I thought I'd stop in. I was looking for porgies and they had them! They were huge. They also had frozen fish and shrimp for purchase. You could buy raw fish to take home or buy it and have it cooked or buy cooked seafood. As a first time visitor, I was unsure how to order. There were people sitting, spaced out waiting but not really a line. I stood at the glass that encased the fresh fish and waited for help but the people working looked to be getting cooked food prepped and paid for. When someone else walked in, I went towards the register to ensure they didn't get served before me. I waited a few more minutes and then told a guy who looked free that I wanted fresh fish. He told me he needed a few more minutes. Finally, I was able to order the porgies and when I paid for them, I was only given two options- butterfly or whole. I had to settle for butterfly, because I wanted them cleaned but I wanted something else. Anyway, thankfully it didn't take long to clean and prepare and I left. By the way, there was a line outside by the time I left so it's obvious the locals like this place. When I got home, I learned that in addition to just butterflying , they don't remove fins and the fish still had scales peppered all over. I couldn't even see it until the fish was cooked! Gross! I was disappointed with the lack of choices for prepping the fish and the scaling job but the price was decent and the selection suited my needs. read more

My fiance and I visited this seafood market for the first time today. Believe me, we will be regulars here. There is no dine-in option, only carry out. The first thing that gets your attention is the exceptionally clean and organization restaurant. There is smell of seafood in the place. You would be hard to find any restaurant this clean. The staff was very friendly and professional. We both ordered 2 piece fried filleted flounder meals. I added froed shrimp and oysters. She added shrimp and fried okra. We also had the hush puppies. Everything was piping hot, cooked to perfection and was totally delicious. The hush puppies had bits of corn inside, and they were awesome. The shrimp was also fantastic. They even trim the tails. The flounder and oysters were very fresh and sizable portions. The cost was very reasonable. This is a hidden jewel in the Columbia food game. A must visit. read more

I went here today based on a co-worker's recommendation. I was shown her food and it looked really delicious. Well, I'm proud to say that it taste as good as it looked. I had fried catfish and shrimp. The price was very reasonable and the portions were great! Everything was served hot and in the presentation was appetizing. The place was very clean and the customer service was outstanding. Everything was cooked to order which was a big plus for me. The cleanliness of the place stood out considering other similar places I've visited, cleanliness was an issue.
