If there was a problem, which was usually that the credit card on auto-pay had expired, I received snail mail and a phone call to let me know. Just recently, however, the first snail mail notice I received was that my account was months overdue and set to be auctioned. I called "my account is on auto-pay, using a card that is not expired. What's up?" "did you receive notice of our system change?" "no" "well, we couldn't transfer bank information into the new system. Is your email *****?" "No, that is my wife's email, she set up the account originally. She is deceased" "oh, well we sent texts as well" "this number is a land line" "oh, well, I'm here until 5pm today, but since it is so late we will need cash or a cashiers check" It was 4:20 pm on a friday. I asked "since we just established that I received no notice until now, due to your erroneous choice of communication methods, can any of these penalties be waived?" "No we have stopped waiving fees for customers, and it is your responsibility to ensure your contact info is current". The clerk was very polite and personable, but lacked any shred of empathy or understanding of the situation. When I got there the amount due was $300 more than the notice I received two weeks prior stated, with no explanation. And though I was still well within the time to pay, my lock had already been cut (again, without explanation), so an additional cost for a new lock. Meh, it has been on my to do list to clean out the unit for years, particularly due to the frequent price increases with the new management (which, ironically, I DO get snail mail notices for, rather than email or text). This motivates me to get it done. C'ya Yuba City 99 Self Storage! And good luck to all of you who choose to do business with them.

Second, after asking me for all of the information necessary to establish the account, he hands me paperwork so I can fill out the exact same information on paper that he had already imputed into his computer. I fill it out, while he updates his Facebook status. Next, after establishing myself as a customer, he told me i would have access to my unit until 3pm. Really? Do you not know your competition will let me access the unit till like nine? So I ask for a refund of the money I just paid them. Now I'm waiting three days for the refund minus the 10 dollar administrative fee of course. Stay away. Stay far away. There are plenty of other storage facilities in the area that treats their customers with respect.
