When I was 26 I had two of my molars removed due to years of neglect and terrible dental health (yes, it was that bad). I have had many dentists telling me that I needed implants to replace the missing molars for various reasons but it wasn't until 4 years later on March 2022 when Best Dental helped me with my first dental surgery and getting me started on the restoration for my dental health. Two days before surgery, Dr. Rizk started his treatment plan and medication to put me on my best foot forward for surgery. On the morning of my surgery I was still very nervous and expecting a lot of pain. The surgery lasted about 1 hour, and in that hour I can tell you the only pain I felt was from the anesthesia needle in the beginning. After the surgery I continued to feel normal and it was amazing! Aside from some swelling and slight pain the recovery process was easy and I was even able to chew on solid food the same night after my surgery. Dr. Rizk and his team at Best Dental are amazing and exceptional at what they do, and very glad I found this in practice. 10/10 would recommend Best Dental. read more

I've known Dr.Rizk for about a little more than 10 year, my daughter and I started visiting him when he started working at the office at 92 street and 5th avenue. We enjoy his work ethic and personality. My daughter started going to Dr.Rizk when she was about 6 and his ability to work with kids made everything so smoothly. He always had a good heart and great sense of humor. We went here because our dental office hasn't reopened yet for cleanings as they are waiting on equipment due to COVID. We were a couple months past due for 6 month cleanings so I figured we would try Best Dental since they were close and had a lot of good reviews. They accepted my dental insurance and the price for my son was the same as at our regular dental office (we don't carry insurance for him). So everything seemed good. The staff at the front was great, she was friendly and helpful. We were the only ones in the office and social distancing and proper cleaning procedures were evident. The assistants were helpful and nice and at first chats the Dr appeared to be the same. Multiple degrees on the wall, including Harvard. They had a high tech machine for x rays but it seemed they had some challenges operating it. Unfortunately, the cleanings we had were sloppy and in my child's case painful. I've never seen the polishing paste applied with a gloved finger and then polished. Everything was done by the dentist and he kept mentioning different teeth of mine that had decay. I was then told I had five cavities and they should be filled ASAP. I've never had that many, I'm diligent about oral hygiene. Some of the "cavities" he showed me were obviously surface stains. So I said I was shocked. He continued his overly aggressive sales pitch focusing on my gum recession which I am aware of but now suddenly I should see a specialist and get on his list for Invisalign. Because that can help with my recession? I left very upset. Thankfully, I was smart enough to come back to Yelp and read several of the reviews here that painted a similar picture to what I experienced. I called the office back and canceled the appt I had made for the filling. I alerted her to the negative reviews and she was very understanding. They are definitely out for the insurance bucks! Will be going back to Fifth Avenue Dental once they open! Update: I emailed and asked for our xrays and as detailed list of recommendations for treatment made during my appointment. Maryan was very helpful and provided everything. She called to follow up after seeing this review. I do appreciate that. I just think this dentist's style and approach aren't for us. Further Update: Today 7/10 I went to my own dental practice, Fifth Avenue Dental (I've been a patient here for over 18 years) since they are now open again! I brought the aforementioned x-rays and proposed treatment plan of Dr Rizk. The office did a full clinical and took additional bite wings to replace the ones Best dental emailed me as those weren't able to be pulled up digitally in their system since they just sent me PDFs. Like other reviewers, No surprise, I have NO need for any fillings!! From 5 to none!! Dr. Quinn and Dr D from Fifth ave went over the list with me and some of the teeth referenced by Dr Sizk at Best dental had no cavity at all!! In addition they checked my gums and said there is absolutely no reason for a specialist. They said there is one tooth they will put on their watch list but by no means did it warrant a filling! Please avoid Best Dental at all costs, my dentists were shocked at the amount of work Dr Sizk was proposing. And the Invisalign another money maker and totally unnecessary! I'm so relieved my favorite office is back open! And btw Fifth Ave didn't even charge me today for the x rays or clinical. read more

Wow save yourself while you can! This guy is a fraud. His work is terrible and he's quick to change what insurance he takes so he no longer has to see you. Yup! He does you like that! I was fitted with a crown that I was told would last anywhere between 15 and 30 years! It lasted less than 4! This guy doesn't care about you - only milking your insurance card! Save your smile ... go somewhere else! Now because the terrible job he did I have to have the tooth extracted and I have to have a bone graph done because the tooth is beyond saving. $5000 for all the work! And I will be without a front tooth for up to 9 months for the bone to take to have a base to create a new post for a new crown. Unreal! What a scumbag! Every few years he changes the insurance he takes and his location. He runs from his bad jobs! So run the other way & don't give him business. read more

I needed an urgent root canal and found this office and was attracted to it due to vey positive reviews on Yelp. I am skeptical by nature and don't tend to base my decisions of selection on reviews as the only criteria, and I try to dig deeper through further research. However, I was captivated by the overwhelming positive reviews which later led to disappointment. In my first appointment for check up, I mentioned that the purpose of my visit is to do root canal since I had visited dentists previously and regularly. The dentist mentioned that I needed 11 fillings and he actually worked on two of them. I asked for a plan so that I know what to expect but faced resistance and hesitance from the dentist and his staff. There was lack of transparency regarding plan as well as financial expectations, despite my inquiry. I was shocked and had to contact my previous dentist since he never mentioned I needed fillings. I was told by previous dentist that it was absolutely unnecessary, and that only a filling and drilling happy dentist would ask you to work on 11 of your teeth that are very well maintained. Therefore, I opted out from continuing to do the remaining 9 fillings, and went back to my previous dentist. With that in mind and to be fair, the office from communication standpoint was average, as they sent reminders and updates like most other places. From cleanliness and maintenance of office, it was average as well. My sincere and genuine recommendation for people looking for a dentist to research and seek ethical and competent dentists. My sincere and genuine recommendation for the management of this office and staff to go through further ethical as well as professional development trainings. As for reviewers, I ask you to sincerely strive to post truthful and objective assessments and ratings. Doctor and the staff are very friendly. They make sure you have a good experience. Obviously if you have dental problems going to the dentist will hurt but they make sure you're as comfortable as possible. Highly recommend if you need of a family dentist. read more

Dr Rizk is the man. My wisdom tooth erupted and was decayed causing a lot of pain. Got me in to see him same day. After consult he told me that to extract the tooth today would be hard to fit in today but will call me after last appointment of the day. I said that's fine/understandable ( but really wanted to yank the sucker out). They made the appointment the following business day. I get a all around their closing time asking me if I wanted to come in ( live 5 blocks from the office) I said most definitely! The doctor extracted the wisdom tooth. One of my friend recommend dr. Rizk to me. Dr. Rizk was able to save my tooth and did the root canals after several visits. He spent extra times to find all the canals for the tooth specially that tooth is covered by permanent crown and was very changeable to find one of the canals. He did what the specialist couldn't do. Dr. Rizk did a magnificent job with my Six Months Smile braces. I had a lot of crowding in both, upper and lower teeth plus a horrible overbite which would've taken at least two years to adjust. The receptionist is very helpful, she helped me to get a same day appointment because I told her how much pain my boyfriend was in. We thought we knew what the problem was, but the dentist correctly diagnosed him and referred us to an oral surgeon for an extraction since the tooth was close to a nerve. This office has fair prices and they were honest about what he needed some from the oral surgeon rather than doing the procedure themselves. We will return to this dentist. read more

Dr. Rizk is a very "aggressive" dentist when it comes to cavities. Even a tiny cavity he will drill and fill, and charge $100 bucks a pop. He said I had 8 when I went to see him for the first time, and him being the expert I went along with it. This was probably a mistake, my teeth have had extensive fillings done. If I was to do it again, I would seek a more conservative treatment. read more

Was a patient of Dr. Rizk, he did a great job on my implant, he also did several cleaning and filling on my sons. Dr. Rizk told me that my son need a filling, when my wife went to check on our son, Dr Rizk was about to extract 2 of my son tooth. He recommend me to see a specialist, witch I did, the specialist said not to take them out. After another cleaning Dr. Rizk was trying to take the teeth out after I told him the specialist said to leave them let the fall out on their own. I change my dentist, come to find out, my other son had 2 filling that were connected like a bridge. Try to find out why did he connect the teeth together like a bridge for a child that age. read more

I was lured in by many positive Yelp reviews (as some other reviewers mentioned), but was sorely disappointed with the visit.The dentist himself seemed like a very patient and personable guy, but I have to agree with other reviewers that whoever is in charge of his office's insurance/billing is greedy and looking to charge patients for all possible services. Our insurance was billed for tobacco counseling and other services that we never received. None of us smoke and although I recall the doctor asking, the answer was no. How exactly does that fall under the category of counseling....? I will be looking for a new dentist asap. read more

I came here for a simple cleaning about a year ago. I am still disturbed by how awful the experience was. Another reviewer had commented that this dentist is a crook and I completely agree. He seems to feed largely on the immigrant community. He did a terrible job cleaning my teeth, fast, sloppy, and with a horrible attitude. And yes, as stated in other reviews, you quickly get the sense that he is in it solely for the money. He took some x-rays and then told me I had "12-16 cavities." 12-16??? I was in shock naturally because I've always had strong teeth and my oral hygiene is excellent. After expressing my disbelief he told me that they're "either stains or cavities." What??? I've since asked two dentists about this and both told me that a proper dentist should know the difference between stains and cavities, especially after taking X-rays. So either he isn't a proper dentist, or he is a liar. Take your pick. So again, I feel sorry for all the people that are getting unnecessary work done, those who don't know any better. Avoid this place at all cost! UPDATE: I went to a real dentist in Manhattan and had ZERO cavities and was told that my oral hygiene was very good, "Keep doing what you're doing" the dentist said. read more

The most horrible experience ever! I was a new patient at this place and after filling out my paperwork the assistant jumped in taking my X-rays without understanding what I came for. He helped me with my dental phobia and anxiety, my teeth were so horrible due to the fact that i was scared from the dentist but he took his time with me and made sure i was comfortable enough for him to proceed with the procedures I needed, to make me have a better and healthier smile. He is very considerate and has a great personality I sometimes felt like i wasn't at the dentist at all, that i feel like he actually made me overcome my dental phobia. On top of that I had to get to front teeth root canals done with crowns and they came out spectacular!! It looks like i have a hollywood smile. The only reason I am writing this review is because I was drawn into the office based on the positive Yelp reviews so I feel compelled to write this. I came into this dental office for the removal of a broken implant and a replacement which he said he can do. The day I went in, my whole treatment plan changed and I was told I needed 13 fillings! I keep up with my dental hygiene and get a cleaning every 3 months and was never told I needed that. I only had 2 fillings when I was a kid so naturally I was shocked. The dentist then proceeded to show me the mirror and insisted that the natural tea/coffee stains were cavities. I allowed him to do 6 fillings.My teeth have been in pain for over 3 weeks and he has not called me back once although I have left several messages. Everyone I know said they never experienced this much pain after fillings that they only had pain PRIOR to receiving their fillings. I never had ANY pain or sensitivities before the fillings and now I can't eat or drink without experiencing pain. Lastly, he never discussed the plan for my implant which is why I initially came in! In addition, I went to my old dentist in park slope and he said that the drilling and filling was unnecessary. THIS OFFICE IS A BUSINESS. You're teeth are just dollar signs, go elsewhere ! Dr Rizk and his staff are pretty nice and cooperative; they helped me out with my dental problems so far and have been very efficient about it. The wait can be a tad bit long but I believe it's worth it. I had a cavity and another dentist told me it may be a root canal but Dr Rizk reassured me i just needed a filling. I am not sure why others have felt "pressured" into getting certain things done; I was told I needed a deep cleaning/scaling and his staff contacted my insurance and they said they wouldn't cover it so he told me to hold off on it until I have better dental benefits. Since I have been working in the health care system, I know many offices MAY seem like they are greedy but unfortunately until we have free health care in this country, that's how insurance companies work. read more

When it comes to the dentist I am an absolute wuss. Really. I will put off appointments for so long because I just hate going to the dentist lol buttttt ever since I started coming here I felt at ease. Dr. R seriously rocks . I needed so much work done . Hey can a girl have a sweet tooth ? He did about 10 fillings on me lol all white ones which I must say is awesome! Honestly felt no pain , and he walked me through everything he was doing . Then o needed two new crowns because my old ones were just ehhh. I won't talk price but let's just say I got two beautiful crowns and I can't complain about the price . Even the temporaries he made were so beautiful I didn't want to remove them lol. But seriously he is so genuine and will tell you exactly what you need and don't . Also the assistants are super super nice . Always get a compliment when I come on , every gal loves that lol. I also love how he treats his employees that's a big plus for me being that I worked with a dentist before . Just goes to show he genuinely is a great person and dentist and cares for ppl oh and he's funny lol . Btw I don't think my insurance is the best and even still he treated me like if I had the best .
