Not the Same Practice Anymore…read more We used to love coming to this office when it was run by Dr. Turnwald and his team. My kids actually enjoyed going to the dentist, and the entire staff was fantastic. About a year ago, I was having tooth pain and called to set up an appointment, and I was pleasantly surprised to get in the same day. However, when I showed up, I found out the entire old staff and Dr. Turnwald had left, and the practice had been sold to a new doctor--without any notice. Even the text and email confirmations still had the old dentist's name, so it was pretty frustrating to show up and find an entirely new staff and doctor. While the new staff was nice and the doctor was okay, the whole experience felt off-putting since I booked the appointment thinking it was still my family's trusted dentist. I also really missed my old hygienist, who always made visits easy for my kids. Honestly, had they been more upfront about the change when I called, it might not have left such a sour taste in my mouth. But now, I drive 30 minutes out of my way to see Dr. Black, where she has her own practice, and it's worth it for the care we receive. Most of the positive Yelp reviews here are for the old practice under Dr. Turnwald, and it says a lot that the entire staff left when he did. We've since followed Dr. Black to new office, and our family is much happier for it.

Sure, the front desk and initial visit feel overly welcoming, but that quickly fades once you're actually in the chair. The quality of care during treatment is completely different; rushed, inattentive, and honestly frustrating. There's a clear disconnect between how they present themselves upfront and how things actually run behind the scenes. Another huge red flag is how often the staff changes. Every time I've been there, it feels like there's a whole new team. That kind of turnover says a lot, and it definitely affects the consistency of care. The doctor herself is very avoidant. It's hard to get direct answers or feel like your concerns are being taken seriously. On top of that, not even wearing loupes during procedures feels unprofessional and careless & especially in a setting where precision matters. Much better than typing into your phone. What wasnt super cool was the feeling that my insurance was a free ticket to rack up all the possible covered charges from GO. I had a full set of xrays in an online storage folder from December I didnt need more in March... without asking they had planned a whole slew of diagnostics... when I just asked for/wanted a exam, pocket check, and perio (cleaning)... I also had bitewings from a Perio Consult in January. The last straw was being told that the staff spend 2-3 hours checking my insurance coverage to make sure all these things were covered... when I asked why they were so sure it was available... note their papers have you explicitly sign-off that services may not be covered by insurance so thats kinda the opposite. Just overall money grab vibes. Eeeek. Not feeling this would be a place with quality care. I went to the legit place that did the perio consult in Jan for the cleaning and wow... they're good

He accepts my company medical plan so I went in for my cleaning. My previous dentist didn't have an assistant and just scraped using the tools he had while I periodically sat up to rinse my mouth with the cup of water provided. Dr. Nicholson explained what he was doing (using the Ultrasonic) and his assistant helped in rinsing and advised me what to do. He also let me know my options with regards to any of my problems and advised me the pros/cons of each. When he was done, I got a personally packaged toothbrush and full size toothpaste along with a walk-out statement of what was done. It definitely encouraged me to come back for another appointment!
