When we go out of town and are unable to take our dog with us, Best Friends Fur Ever is our go to dog boarding place. We love Best Friends Fur Ever because of it being easy to make an appointment. Once you have gone through the initial enrolling process and gotten into their system, you fill in a request for service online and they contact you within 24 hours (usually it is closer to 12 hours). During stays, Best Friends Fur Ever have great communication. Sometimes they will upload pictures. They will reach out with any issues they have and respond quickly if you have any questions. The employees here clearly love dogs. No matter who the employee is, when we go to drop our dog off they get really excited to see our dog. He, in turn, gets excited to see them. We love that Best Friends Fur Ever will take care of grooming needs while we are away. If possible, they will trim nails, bathe them and express their anal glands. Finally, the biggest reason we choose Best Friends Fur Ever, is our dog always seems well taken care of when we return to get him. If he is happy, we are happy. read more

If I could leave 0 stars... Our geriatric small dog was grievously injured in an unprovoked attack by a German Shepherd documented on video while boarding at Best Friends Furever. The dog that attacked our dog we were told had been at BFF 2 years prior and had a record of an incident. Yet, BFF inexplicably commingled this dog in the geriatric section behind the front reception area. Due to the severity of our dog's injury we were forced to put him to rest. Worse yet- we later found out that when our dog was taken to a local vet ER by a Best Friends Furever staff member after the attack/ they chose to leave without our dog being seen by ER Vet. WHY?- because they were told wait was 2-3 hours. Best Friends Furever LEFT without our dog being seen by the vet. PROTECT YOUR FUR-BABIES! read more

Pre Covid I would have recommended Best Friends Fur Ever highly, and did! I can't tell you how many people I recommended who sent there pups to Best Friends Fur Ever. My dog, Malcolm, had been going there since he was a pup, we even took training classes there including agility. It was his home away from home. He is even one of the dogs pictured on their billboard and doors. Then, as with all businesses, staff changed. There was constant turnover and about 6 months before the Covid shut down the staff in charge decided to put my mid-size dog in the large size dog group, where he was attacked. Of course I was upset but things like this happen. And the contract I signed says that I pay 50% of the vet bill and the other dog's parents pay the other 50%. I was more upset because I felt it would not have happened if they kept him in the mid size group but nothing I could do. Malcolm is also a roller... he thinks poop is a wonderful cologne to wear behind the ears. So he was on the 20 minute list. Even so he had a habit of finding poop. It started to become a habit when I would pick him up he would have poop on him. There was no way I was taking him home with poop on him. When I would say something the handler would act like I was acting like I was asking him/her to do something that was not their job. I would get an attitude or an eye roll. Like I was being a bother. excuse me? I pay good money for you to take care of my fur baby. All they would do was wipe him down with baby wipes, half the time I would have to bath him when I got home. Not what I wanted to do after a day at work, but he sleeps in my bed and I wasn't letting him sleep in bed with poop on him. So when we shut down for Covid and I had to work from home I was ok with not coming back. Fast forward to the present. I have a new job that entails travel and I need a safe place to board Malcolm. First place I think of is Best Friends Fur Ever. Because I understand how staff changes are and the first 5 years there were so positive. Like I said it was his home away from home and he loved it there. So I called to speak to a manager. I wanted to tell her my concerns and worries. She got on the phone with me and told me she didn't have the time right then. I told her I didn't expect her to I wanted to schedule an appointment at her convenience before Malcolm came back. She said leave her my name and number and she would get back to me later that day. That was about a week ago. I haven't heard a word. I am very disappointed. read more

This is the second time in a month that my dog has gotten extremely sick from boarding at the Joppa location. The first time was a case of kennel cough which I brushed aside, but this past time he came home with a horrible eye infection and what looks like flea bites/rash forming all over his body. It's absolutely unbelievable and I never ever had a single health concern when boarding my dog in PA before moving to Baltimore. My dog has been boarded twice at BFFE and has left ill each time. The most recent was the most egregious. I was called to pick him up early because he had a green discharge coming from his left eye and he was isolated due to the possibility of contagiousness. I asked if he would be bathed as he was scheduled and I was told that he probably wouldn't be because they'd "have to clean to prevent contamination". I would think that cleaning should be done no matter what, so as to prevent contamination...which is exactly what has occurred. When I picked my dog up, he was damp, supposedly from being bathed, with a large amount of old discharge in his eye. Why wouldn't someone remove this discharge? It looked like it was there for a while. That would seem to be basic care. 24 hours after returning home, my dog started vomiting profusely. He has been to the vet twice in 24 hours. We have spent nearly $300 additional dollars to find out that he has picked up two different viruses from his stay at BFFE. I know that I have submitted my dog's vaccine records. Have other owners done the same? Or better yet, is anyone cleaning the facility to prevent "contamination" as your associate put it? We will not return to this facility. I do not recommend your services. I have a very sick dog due to 48 hours in your care. read more

We've been bringing our Labradors here for 4+ years... They love coming to Doggie Daycare playdates 1-2x per week. The staff know our dogs well! They even have funny nicknames for them which definitely fit their personalities... We're sad that Ethan F. left and hopefully he'll return for visits. At least he's now working right down the street... Ethan carried a photo of Dakota in his wallet!? He definitely had multiple photos of her in his phone as do the other handlers, I bet. Ethan worked for BestFriends at least 5years, probably more. There's a bunch of handlers who have worked @ BestFriends for years! That to me says a lot about the place and the culture. The staff enjoys it and so do our dogs. The other day I witnessed a member of the team leap over the front desk to help a dog in distress outside!!! These people are amazing! Well, that being said, I can wholeheartedly endorse BFFE as a place I can trust to watch over one of our family members. The staff are caring, warm, competent, trustworthy, loving, and look like they enjoy their jobs. They take in elderly dogs, teeny tiny dogs, and everything in between. They have ample, sunny, outdoor and enclosed yards that are always supervised by staff and separately demarcated by size of dog. What's fun is that you can watch your dog in action on their live cams. It's the perfect office break to share with a coworker because the dogs are always up to some sort of mischief. Our little scruffmuff, in his joie de vivre, loves to body slam into the other dogs like he's at some punk concert mosh pit, and they all seem to be having a ball! They have good rates, and they also do a little grooming for a nominal fee. He was looking a little shaggy recently and needed a nail trim and so they transformed him into a proper little groomed gentleman. We've been using this place for day care and overnight boarding for quite a few years now but, after this last boarding experience we will never be taking our dog here again. I have an 8 year old husky who we took to be boarded for a week here. After three days we got a report card saying she hadn't eaten AT ALL! So then when we tried to call nobody would answer the phone. It kept quitting the call on us or taking us to voicemail which was full so we couldn't even leave a message. They also gave me extension numbers to call certain people and then when you call there's no way to dial the extension. If you do it just kicks you out of the call. Needless to say our vacation has been far from relaxing and even after juggling friends and neighbors and trying to get different food to the daycare we got one night of relaxation where she ate her meals and then another call of how she isn't eating again with an extension to call that of course didn't work! Now we will probably have to cut our vacation short and spend even more money changing our plane ticket to get home and rescue her. I'm worried sick and on the verge of tears. The only reason it was charged is that I gave my card to add a tip. No tip next time, I guess, if odd fees will be added. Have been using daycare services at Best friends Furever since October. My 1.5 year old golden retriever seems to enjoy it! He's always happy to go in and tired when he gets home. He did get kennel cough once, but that's to be expected in any doggie daycare with many dogs. We can access cameras to see how our dog is behaving and being cared for, for a few hours a day. BFFE is awesome and Mocha felt right at home. At every visit, as soon as Mocha reached the front door she was so excited. The staff greeted her lovingly and they all knew her name. Catalina Chao is a great trainer. Mocha's behavior was much improved and she loved "Cat". Cat shows so much love, kindness and patience when training. Do NOT send your dog to Best Friends Fur Ever!!!! My dog has been exposed to kennel cough and/or an extremely severe respiratory infection after spending time here on multiple occasions. I know of many people, including friends and neighbors whose dogs have too gotten very sick after spending time here. The staff at Best Friends Fur Ever is aware of this issue and have taken insufficient measures to fix it, and continues to remain open despite many complaints about this issue. They need to take appropriate steps to clean the facility and ensure the spread of this illness stops. Prior to this occurance, we have had a great experience with best friends fur ever and it is a shame that we can no long send our dog there in an effort to protect his health. read more

She gets excited when I pull her special collar out because she knows where shes going for the day. She always comes home happy and exhausted. We were using this place for years, but after these past two times, my dog is never coming back. First she came back with giardia, which is a parasite you get from drinking unclean water and/or something you get from another dog. OK, maybe the water dish wasn't changed, we thought. Mistakes happen. We should have learned our lesson. She came back with fleas the second time. She has NEVER had fleas before. She is on FrontLine and has been since we got her. The fleas have invaded our house and we have spent a fortune on flea prevention and killing products. SHE STILL HAS FLEAS. 3 MONTHS AFTER BOARDING. We vacuum, we wash, we have thrown away and had to replace bedding and collars. NEVER AGAIN. read more

Trying to find a place to board our dog, and made a surprise visit to tour this facility yesterday. Was told by the person who greeted us that she didn't think they do tours anymore but would check. Came back to say they don't do tours and asked if we'd be interested in making a boarding reservation. My husband and I said "not if we can't tour your facility!?" And the staff member said "ok" and walked away. (Pretty rude...) I took the attached pic while the staff member was checking to see if we could tour. I took it because it was funny seeing all of these dogs take over the front desk area. Guessing they were having indoor play because it was so hot outside. The reason I'm sharing this picture and our experience is because I realized this morning that there is a note on each of the whiteboards that there are dogs in a closet and not to close it. WHAT!?!?! No wonder they won't let you tour! We will DEFINITELY never bring our baby here, but sharing for those who do/are considering bringing their pet here. My pup always leaves pup daycare happy and excited. She comes home and sleeps like she has been playing all day! She always smells good and never like she's been in a boarding facility. Initially I didn't want to write this review because I truly did enjoy the people at this place as did my dogs and there ongoing communication with me. This past June I brought my two dogs here. They loved it, got adorable report cards and even had pictures sent home. A week later, my youngest got kennel cough and after a week of antibiotics was fine. He 100% got the cough here because he had never been brought anywhere else. I know that many daycares insist that kennel cough is common and no big deal. A " common cold" they say like how kids get when they first go to daycare. But unfortunately that is not so. For My other dog, who was 6, showed no signs of kennel cough until 2 weeks later and was also put on meds but it turned into complicated pneumonia in his lungs and he ended up passing away. Now I know that there is no guarantee that my other dog got his cough from this place and therefore best friends Furever cannot be blamed and I do not hold them responsible. But I can say that my first dog 100% did obtain kennel cough from them. Also, If you go into the not recommended reviews at the bottom of this page you will see that another owners dog contracted kennel cough around the same exact time as my dog and the business did not even ask for the dogs name. **Now for the record, when learning about my dogs passing, the owner of BFFE sent me an in memory keychain and asked for updates and everything and even answered my questions I've asked in the aftermath*** (thank you to them so much to them and again this review is not to bash this daycare but to end the stigma about kennel cough being no big deal). In the end, it needs to be shared that there was indeed at least two kennel cough cases that went seemingly not reported June/July of this year at this daycare . So please heed my advice and don't view kennel cough as no big deal like I initially was led to believe. read more

Got him back and had to take him straight to the vets because of injury. I was not contacted or notified at anytime of any injuries. Best place for our dogs furever! Have had three pups stay here over the years. Just picked Ringo up after a 5 night stay. Always impressed by the front office staff, the admin. and the handlers; all very professional. The report cards are thorough, including the amount of food eaten while there and pictures of pups' one-on-one time. The webcams are fun if you can catch a glimpse of your pup (because there are a lot of dogs)! The cams let you see the indoor and outdoor activity, as well as the cleaning being done inside while the dogs are outside. LOVE the open concept and feel great that the dogs are not in their crates all day. HIGHLY recommend. Great ownership. read more

I am very disappointed. Not at all what I expected. I have a $50,000 service (mobility) dog. I wanted him to have more exercise and play time then he gets as a working dog. I had a long talk with one of their trainers and she was kind, understanding and helpful. Today when I arrived for his first day I was told that I couldn't see the facility... no tours. When he was a year old he was taken from me forcibly and put in a crate. We don't know what happened to him during the 48 hours he was caged but he has PTSD. I explained that I needed to take him back and put him in his crate so he would know he wasn't being taken from me again. It isn't separation anxiety but fear of being taken from me by strangers. The first person said I couldn't go back with him "for your own safety". She asked the "management" and told me that she refused. I asked to speak with that person The "management" person, who it turned out was sitting right there, was the Director. The Director didn't introduce herself and refused to allow me to take my dog to his crate even when I explained the situation and that my walking away leaving him with strangers who were going to put him in a crate was going to exacerbate his PTSD. She was rude, treated me without kindness or respect. When I said that I was disappointed and thought that I would only have to take him back one time she wouldn't budge. I said I would have to leave. She didn't seem to care about me, my disability, nor (this is the MOST important) my service dog. She was the problem and I can't recommend any facility whose Director is so uncaring about the welfare of dogs. The rest of the staff were wonderful. The handlers and front desk people couldn't have been better. I do understand the lability issue for them but sometimes exceptions have to be made. A red flag shouldn't have been "no tours" and not being allowed to see anything. I wouldn't leave a child in a place I couldn't see first. Why would I leave a service dog. BEWARE. read more

Great dog day care. We get the package and it lasts us about 2-3 months for day care passes. My dog is always tired when she gets home and it's perfect after a long day of work. My husband and I wanted to put our puppy in Doggy Daycare to socialize her and also for additional exercise. We read the reviews on Best Friends Fur Ever and thought it sounded like what our puppy needed. The first time we went, after we picked up our dog, they had a new employee walk us out to the car with our dog because we forgot a leash and collar. You have to purchase a break away collar (completely understandable) for 10.00 and we were told it stays at the facility per the new person that walked us out. That was not true. That same day, I asked for a report of my dog's behavior and they told me I would be emailed/text pics and a report card. I opened up the report card and all the pics they have attached to my dog's account, and they WERE NOT EVEN MY DOG!! I questioned if the report card was correct as well. I called and they assured me this would be fixed and "they believed the report card to be accurate." I thought, okay, everyone makes mistakes, no problem, we will go back and try this again. Second visit was worse. Best Friends Fur Ever provides a schedule of what the dogs will do throughout the course of the day. In this schedule, they tell you that your dog has "nap" time for a total of 2 hours during the day. That is completely false. You are able to see your dog on a webcam and my dog was in a crate, along with 4 other dogs next to her, from 11am-330pm. I am not paying 42.00 for my dog is sit in the crate. When I called to question this I was told because of high volume and being short staffed the dogs only get 1.5 hours out of the crate in the morning and 1.5 hours in the afternoon. I had high hopes for this place, but has been very unprofessional from the very start. If your dog goes to this place, I would check out the webcam to make sure they didn't stuff your dog in a crate all day. I will not be returning. A complete waste of money that provided no exercise nor socialization for my pet. read more

Started to take our 5 month old puppy here for daycare. We wanted him to be socialized. After a couple weeks our puppy started with cold like symptoms. A trip to the vet's and a round of antibiotics and he was better. He had no other contact with dogs other than going to Best Friends. Then last week we received a phone call saying our puppy had a puncture wound and they were taking him to the vet. I called and was told they didn't know what happened, video didn't show anything but we'r would receive a email with details and pictures. After a vet visit and more antibiotics and a week of trying to keep a 6 month old puppy quiet he is doing better. We'r have never received a email. We'r received one follow up call later the same day. Still no explanation other than the vet telling us that when they called they said there was "a scuffle". This facility has too many dogs in their play groups and their handlers don't pay enough attention. We don't know how long our puppy was bleeding before they noticed he was injured but it's very unprofessional to not check on a clients pet that was injured under their care. I have heard several stories about this facility now that I've talked to people about our experience and it seems this is normal. Dog owner's should be cautious. I will NOT be returning with my puppy. read more

The quality of the daycare seems pretty good but I have two complaints that make this a three-star rating. 1. The prices are high compared to other daycares I have used in the past. Unfortunately, this one has no real competition in the area so they can have sky-high prices for slightly above-average quality daycare. My dog gets very car sick so I can't drive 20-30 minutes to use a different daycare. 2. They have very poor quality cameras. Their website boasts about the ability to watch your dog on the pet cams, but the quality is awful with literally (and I really mean literally) one frame per second. You usually can't even tell which dog is yours due to the very low quality image. Considering the extremely high prices, they should be able to afford decent cameras. read more

I left my 6 month old puppy for the first time when I left on a week's vacation. Everyone was kind and helpful and when we left, everyone seemed to know my dog by name. But I was disappointed that there wasn't a nanny cam working so I could check on him occasionally from afar. I thought this was an expected part of the service.
