I used BFPH mostly because it's close to the airport but staff had an attitude like they don't want to be there.

This place is pretty good, I had to leave my cat here for a few days because I was going out of town, the facilities are decent, the dog area could use improvement as well as more to the cat room. I was really worried about how my cat would feel about this place, but he seemed to do pretty well. The only downside is that the food they were feeding him caused him to stop eating for 3-4 days, and anything he did eat, he threw it up within 10 minutes. If you could find some place better, I definitely would try to. read more

We luckily stumbled across Best Friends when looking to board our new puppy and have used them ever since. They have extremely friendly service and have taken great care of our dog! You have a menu of options to treat your dog to and the picture they send during your dogs stay is a great touch......Especially in the eyes of our 8 year old daughter who always wants to know how Max is doing! We don't take our dog anywhere else now and have been using Best Friends for 9 months. It takes us 30 minutes to get there but for the price and service we get, closer places aren't even considered. read more

As advertised! They were helpful and sent pictures of my animals while I was gone. I knew my pets would be, at the very least, safe and taken care of daily. They took extra steps to understand my pets' feeding schedule. Everyone was friendly and the facility was clean. They were understanding of each pet's personality. If I use them again, I'll check my invoice before paying. They ended up charging me for the entire day because I picked up after 12 PM (per their policy), but did not take into account that I had requested grooming. Apparently if you have your animals groomed you do not have to pay this extra charge. Just review your charges before you swipe your card -- this is the only reason I deducted a star. read more

I have been taking my pit/boxer mix here for the past four months and I couldn't be more happy. My dog can't wait to get out of the car when we pull up to the facility and pulls me (he's very strong) all the way to the door and can't wait to get into his suite. The staff is very friendly and always updates me to my dogs visit or overnight stay. And when he comes home is TIRED! Another reviewer stated that they are too expensive, but in my extensive research of facilities in East Lansing and Lansing, BFPC was the most affordable (I'm a student, so cost is a big concern, as well as the safety and well-being of my pet). As for the extra fee the other reviewer commented on, it states on the website that check-out for an overnight stay is noon. Any time after that you are charged for a new day of care. It's on the website, dude. I am extremely pleased with Best Friends Pet Care and would recommend them to anyone. read more

We love that all of the employees seem to genuinely love our giant bundle of energy, Maggie. She loves the indoor/outdoor suite so she can spend time outdoors, which is one of her favorite pastimes! When she sees us packing our bags, she gets super excited because she knows where she is going. One time when we were bringing her in, she jumped out of the car before we could get the leash on her--but no worries, she ran directly to the front door and waited for us!! We love that she loves it so much, and we have peace of mind as we travel because of the good work they do. The pictures they send via e-mail are an added bonus. read more

Best Friends always takes time out for each of my kidz. They take extra care of my senior. Most of my crew is on a separate diet and they are always happy to work with their special foods. The staff is always helpful and friendly to me and to the pets. I never have to worry about their care. And the bath on the last day is an added bonus. read more

Love this place! We've taken our skiddish cat here multiple times now for multiple night stays, and as much as we know she doesn't completely enjoy it, she always seems to warm up to them after a night or two. One of the visits, she wasn't able to go to the bathroom for the first day and they let us know immediately. We could get there before they closed that night, and she did end up going before we got to her for pickup the next day, but the fact that they were so on top of it was fantastic. read more

I recently boarded my dog for one night and when I picked him up, I was charged for two. When I asked why I was told we are charged for the day we dropped him off and AGAIN for the day we picked him up (not the one night he stayed). I said I thought it was unfair because I was never told this. The lady acknowledged that a lot of the staff was new and they often make that mistake. She then made no attempt the remedy the situation (like taking off the extra day's charge or giving a credit for next time). This place is WAY too expensive and has a lot of hidden costs. There are plenty of other places in the area with just as good of staff and facilities, for a lot less money. I will not go back. read more

The price was pretty reasonable compared to other places but the staff was not on top of things. We asked them to give a bath for a dog, didn't receive a bath. We told them not to put a blanket with our dog because she likes to eat it, they put blanket in the crate. We also were told we'd receive pictures of our dog throughout her stay, we received one picture. We also brought toys for our dog to comfort her and when we arrived, the toys were not even in the crate. Overall the boarding was average, but the staff was below average. We needed a kennel last minute for our two dogs (Dobie/lab mix and Great Dane/boxer mix) and after reading reviews we decided to try BFPC. While 6 hours north, we got a call from BFPC letting us know that one of our dogs had been chewing on the fence and to prevent any chance of him injuring himself, they relocated both dogs to a bigger suite. We felt reassured that the staff had our dogs best interests in mind. I didn't have email access while out of town, but when I was able to check my email, I was surprised to see BFPC had sent me a picture of each dog while playing in the yard. It is such a nice touch that a lot of places don't do! The report card was an added plus and shows how attentive the staff was during our dogs stay. read more

I have had my dog stay here several times for both day camp and boarding. At times they can be a little disorganized (organization of collars and meds) but I overall I love this place. I have tried several places in lansing/east lansing and this is by far the best. I have a very energetic dog who can be a handful at times but he always seems to be well taken care of. Took my senior mutt for a 2-night stay My dog needs pain medicine and they were able to give her the proper dose at the right time without difficulty. While gone, I received an email update with a photograph of my pet enjoying the grassy yard. When I picked up my shiny-clean doggy, she was happy, and they provided me with a "report card" of how well she fared while in their care. This review is solely for the groomer who cut my cat's hair. I went in and asked for a lion cut, and got a bad vibe from the groomer who asked if I've had my cat declawed. When I went in to pick her up, she looked so terrible. She looked so patchy and obviously the woman had no idea what a lion cut is supposed to look like because my I dropped off my cat but seemed to have gotten a squirrel back. The groomer also cut my cat's ear, and didn't come out to apologize or tell me herself, but instead had the receptionist tell me. I was going to just pay and never come back but my boyfriend drove back and asked for a refund. To which the groomer came out and was extremely upset that we didn't want to pay for her terrible service. She asked my boyfriend if he could do a better job. What? No, of course not, that's why I paid you to do it! She eventually stormed out of the place and left in her car she got so angry. I can't believe how rude and unprofessional she was. I would never go back while she's still working there. Worst haircut my cat has ever had. This groomer needs a serious attitude adjustment. That being said, the receptionist was very nice and I felt bad that she got caught in the middle. The manager wasn't there at the time, but the receptionist called them and was able to give me a refund, which I appreciate. I have nothing against this business but I just hope they can find a groomer who knows what they're doing and how to treat customers. Zero stars for the groomer, 4 stars for the business. read more

Had my two pom-mixes groomed there. It was a good experience and I'll take them back again.

I took our dog here for the first time last week to get groomed. He is cut very uneven in spots all over his body (his hair is randomly longer in a lot of places). Also, I brought along a bag of food for him from home because he was going to be there all day - I asked if they would feed him mid-day and they said this wouldn't be a problem, when i went to pick him up, the bag of food was still in his bag, so I'm assuming he was never fed, either. :( read more
