Very disappointed with our last visit here. Spoke to and boarded with employee, Mackenzie. Asked if 1pm drop off time worked. Response was yes. When we picked up the next day, we were charged an additional $40 because our dog was not dropped off before noon! We were literally sitting around and could've brought him any time if we had only known ahead of time. I contacted this business regarding boarding my puppy for the weekend. I was informed that I would need to fill out an online application. That the dog would need to have a 'flu vaccination & all shots be up to date. Entirely reasonable. They also insist on a review of the dog with 10 -15 of the dogs at the business to know whether they can accept my pet. Temperament etc. I found out that all the dogs are together during play time. I felt this might be a bit overwhelming for my puppy, but decided to wait & see how he reacted. I expected the business to contact me after they looked over my application so I was surprised that they didn't call me by noon today. I called & left a message and was even more surprised that I didn't hear back by 3:30 pm. As a full time working adult, I don't have unlimited amounts of time to run my dog back and forth for reviews etc. I was also a bit alarmed because I really wanted to get the plans set so that worry will be off my mind before our trip. I suppose I should have started this process last week, but am completely inexperienced with boarding my pets. When I called at 3:30 they informed me I would need to produce a negative fecal sample notification from my vet. I have the bill showing I paid for the fecal sample to be tested. I doesn't specifically state that it was negative. My vet would not have found worms and then not advised and charged me for treatment. I am very happy with my vet. At that point I was informed that I would need to get a form from them to have my vet fill out with all my puppy's shots etc. At that point I decided to try to find a different business to work with. read more

I went here for over a year (Okemos location) - the last couple of times the staff was extremely rude. They also took FOREVER to groom my small shitzu mix (7 lbs). I dropped my dog off at 10 and asked how long they thought it'd be - they said 2 hours but they'd call when done. I didn't get a call back until almost 3pm. I've found another salon in Lansing and will be taking my business elsewhere. read more

Pre-baby, back when we had two incomes instead of one and a half, we used to take our German shepherd, Tiberius, to Doggy Daycare once a week. He LOVED it! He would come home so exhausted ... it was awesome. The staff was always very friendly, and you could tell they really cared about the dogs. They'd always tell me how Ti behaved, who he played with, what he did, etc. (The first day he went, he got a little "report card," which was so cute!) They've very good about making sure that all of the dogs who attend are up-to-date on their shots, are temperamentally sound, etc. Puppies have to be at least six months old. They also offer grooming and overnight boarding here. We boarded Ti one weekend when we went out of town for a wedding -- it's pricey, but the dogs get to go to the daycare during the day, which is nice. Overall, my only complaint was that the price IS high, even just for daycare ($25) and not boarding. It's cheaper if you buy packages of visits, but it's still pretty expensive. read more

I just moved out of the area and just cannot find a doggy daycare that looks even half as good! The facilities are great, the dogs have little playground equipment and pools outside and a ginormous play area inside. My Labrador mix Bud was always treated so well. The staff all knew him by name and there are a LOT of similar looking black Labs. He had a great time and I never, ever, ever worried about his safety. Bud would sometimes sleep for nearly two days straight after coming home from daycare. As for the person saying something about pitbulls not being accepted - I know that not all of them are aggressive killers, but even when they are just playing around, the strength in their jaws can cause severe damage to anyone, even just a playful nip, and therein lies the difference between other dogs and a restricted breed. The thing is, the dogs really PLAY at this daycare and get to be a pack in a supervised environment. I've met people at the dog park after our dogs greet each other like old friends, and it always turns out that their dog goes to doggy daycare the same day as Bud! Since my dog thinks he's 12 feet tall and the best thing on four legs, I'm just glad to know that a Pitbull with a different opinion won't be there to tell him otherwise. Anyway, we miss Doggy Daycare & Spa! It's a great place to take your dog for daycare or boarding. He was always happy and tired when I picked him up, and so excited to go that he'd start whining and snorting when we got off the exit in that direction! I never spent a second worrying about him when he was there - for a day or for a week. read more

WE LOVE DOGGY DAY CARE AND SPA! Could not be happier!!!! Our dogs try to claw their way out of the car when they arrive at doggy day care. This really is their favorite place in the world! This is a GREAT place to take your dog to get tired & play with other dogs. The service is great, the prices are reasoanble especially considering the amount of time you can leave your four-legged friend there (almost 10 hours). This is a very trustworthy place to take care of your pets. They have a very strict procedure before they would admit a dog, that may defer some people (questionnaires and interviews) but after your dog is admitted, one begins to realize the advantages of dog screening. Every time I took my dog to Doggy Daycare, he appeared to be so happy and he would immediately run for the entrance, while in some other places that he did not like, he would immediately turns around and try to escape..... I went here to look for boarding for my dog.The staff was friendly until I asked if they would board a pitbull who is licensed,up to date on shots,and friendly w/people&other dogs.Right when I said "pitbull" they already had that look on their face like they didnt want to hear it anymore.The lady automatically said no we dont take pitbulls. Really,I dont understand the stereotypes people have on pitbulls.Not all of them are mean,cruel,and out to kill.They are just as good as any other types of dog.It all depends on their owners. This place is a disappointment to dog owners and dogs.It should not even be in business because of "Doggie Discrimination." read more

This place is awesome! I brought my pup here for boarding for 5 days and he loved it (slept for 2 days after he was so pooped out!). Took him back for Good Dog Training classes and as soon as I pulled in the driveway he was excited to get into that building and go have more fun. The staff is nice and professional and gave me a tour of the whole building before I decided to board/daycare there. Can't say enough good things about this place and highly recommend it. Too bad for Lisa (reviewer); my dog is not a pit bull but can get intense/aggressive in play. The owner knew I had him in training and worked on socializing him so gave him a shot with the evaluation and he worked out well with the regular dogs there. read more

I brought my dog in so she could get some socialization. She had no idea where she was and who these people were yet I was told that she had her tail between her legs the whole time and just sat there. I scheduled another meeting for this am. When I got there the same young girl was at the counter with her attitude. I asked her what the expectation was for my dog since she still isn't familiar with anyone here. She said well we would have to bring her in again. I said ok but I would like to go back with her. I was told "to be honest you are coming in kind of hard and she is taking cues from you". I told her that it wasn't going to work for us and left. I guess they aren't willing to work with dogs to help them adjust. I have trained dogs for 30 years and if I was "coming in hard" it was because she is MY dog and I wanted to make sure this was the right fit. I love the one off of mount hope, they did great with my dog when she was only 4 months old. The new Okemos location however... I took her there recently... they called after two hours to say that she was ready which didn't make any sense to me. My previous husky took atleast 4 hours. My current dog is 11 months old and should take much longer than 2 hours. I got there to get her, they had her in a cage and when they brought her out to me, she was still wet. I had asked for them to do a de-shedding on her which I could tell was not done because she looked almost the same as when I brought her in. She smelled like wet dog.. I was not pleased... on her back, it almost looked like her fur was cut a little bit and then they realized that you should not cut a husky. Not pleased with the Okemos location at all. if I go back, it will be to the mount hope one. read more

I have a chocolate lab and would use Doggy Daycare and Spa occasionally as a daytime place for her to go and play and also for boarding when we had to leave town. After visiting a few places I chose this location. There is so much I love about this place. First, they are very transparent and take you on a tour of the full facility. Second, the pricing is great and they don't nickle and dime you for additional services. For instance, they never charged us additional amounts when we needed them to give her medication. Third, they believe in positive training methods and do not use physical forms of punishment. Forth, the dogs are out of their sleeping kennels for the majority of the time they are there. There is a great indoor and outdoor space where they can play with other dogs. Fifth, they have separate sleeping quarters which gives them real down time to relax after a long day of playing. Sixth, and most importantly, they really do love the dogs. You know this is a mission of their heart and not just about business. When we would drive close to the establishment, my dog would begin whining with excitement and practically drag me to their front door when we got out of the car. When I would pick her up, she was always happy and content. We used Doggy Daycare and Spa for years. Several months ago I moved out of State to LA, California. There are lots of dog day cares and boarding establishments and I have visited several, yet not a one compares with the overall quality of Doggy Daycare and Spa. I know I have been spoiled. read more
