Without changing the footprint of the house they were able to rearrange some walls to add a second bathroom while giving us more usable closet space. They also added a large deck to the rear of the house with patio doors opening onto the deck from the bedrooms. Project Manager Paul kept us well-informed at every stage of the remodel and was very easy to work with. He and the project foreman Edgardo had many terrific ideas which greatly improved the flow of the layout and made rooms look larger and brighter. Edgardo is a superb, detail-oriented craftsman who manages his crew like a well oiled machine. The crew arrived on time, worked hard, and always did a very thorough cleanup before leaving each day. We desperately needed a complete kitchen and bathroom remodel for our condo apartment in a historically significant 100 year old building. As with most condos, there were constraints on site access, hours of work, and unknown structural elements. Several contractors and custom builder-design firms made it clear they were not interested at all, or only if the budget was unlimited! Luckily we got a referral to Best Home Remodeling from Tom at All Natural Stone in Berkeley. Haim, Paul, and Edgardo came several times to review our plans and check measurements and the existing mechanicals before offering a written cost proposal for the construction that met our needs. Their designer, Amy Yu, re-worked custom cabinet layouts we provided to accommodate stock cabinetry at an affordable price point. Edgardo and his team gutted the outdated kitchen and bathroom down to the sub flooring and studs. They rebuilt everything, providing solid workmanship, and creative solutions to difficult design and structural elements. Their tile work is particularly impressive. Didn't have my correct email address Anyway received the estimate..For 10 windows and 2 patio doors. $33,700. 2 stars because he reach out and apologize. However the estimate was the highest I ever received. ================================== I was extremely disappointed with Haim Zonenchin. It got great reviews and found them in Home advisor. I had 3 projects. Maybe it was too much for him. 1) Windows retrofit 2) deck roof replacement 3) ceilings drywall He took measurements and was very nice. Says he will send estimate that week. Week past no estimate. I called, spoke with him. Family emergency .. ok. Says will send estimate in a few days. I asked maybe just give me windows estimate. Still no estimate. 3 weeks has gone by. No phone call and no estimate. Now you can see why I gave one star. One star is for showing up on time for the estimate. read more

I contacted BHR for a bid on a kitchen remodeling that involves removing a load bearing wall and basically tearing down the whole first floor. After meeting a couple other contractors, we decided to go with Assi and BHR. Assi had a lot of great ideas and he was a pleasure to work with. She told me to email her more details of what the shed I wanted will look like, and that she would get back to me with the price. I didn't waste anytime and emailed her that same day .No response, never recieved one. I still have yet to hear from these people about my quote. Is this how they always do business? It would have been a 10K+ job because I wanted insulation and more. So I ended up continuing my searching and luckily found a neighbor that is a carpenter and a professional at building just about anything! I feel confident in giving a strong recommendation for Best Home Remodeling (BHR), one of 3 contractors who bid on removing my claw-foot tub and installing a walk-in shower. The first 2 were here for hours, made many phone calls to consult with others and exerted a lot of pressure on me to sign a contract. Assi Zvik of BHR was here for 20 minutes, didn't need to call anyone else for advice, and promised to email an estimate, which he did the next day. The price was lower than the first 2, but the scope of work was smaller since he didn't see the need to demo my whole bathroom. Assi assured me getting a permit would be no problem despite the small size and tricky plumbing and he got one. Ultimately we were not able to match the existing finishes and the job became considerably bigger but no decision was made without my consent. Assi was very patient and good-natured through our numerous trips to Granite Expo, Home Depot, Moran Plumbing, etc. The job involved a plumber, an electrician, a carpenter and a tile-setter. Each of these tradespeople was a pleasure to have in my house and did very good work. Assi was here almost every day to troubleshoot and coordinate and often worked alongside the tradespeople. He was always available by phone and maintained his good nature despite the numerous changes I made. The work was continuous with no interruptions. While the job took longer than we had originally planned because of all the changes, and cost more than I thought it would, I felt the charges were reasonable considering the extra work. I have a beautiful bathroom with a walk-in, sliding-glass door shower, newly tiled walls, updates to my 100-plus-years old plumbing, a new heater/exhaust/light, a new vanity with a quartz top and a matching linen closet. We retained my old tile floor because it was in great shape and went well with the color scheme I wanted. My problem was an old kitchen window in Albany that was literally rotting away. I needed a removal and replacement window, eliminating some wood rot and patching a fair amount of stucco around window. Haim, proprietor of Best Home Remodeling, Inc., discussed suggestions of a window purchase. I appreciated the option of MY buying the window and followed one of his suggested places to go, settling on Ashby Lumber - finding exactly what I wanted. Work began the first week of May 2020 and was completed by the end of May. Haim's workers were very congenial and did a professional job, working with quality materials. The stucco work was done well, finishing off with a good-looking wood trim both inside and out. Upon my request they created a sill conforming to the house style. It looks very nice! I had pleasant talks with the Project Manager, Ana Gabriela, who assisted with the work continuity.
