Hired to replace and repair siding so we could prime and paint. Also installed a new sliding door. Dennys was very professional, on time, knowledgeable, and had a fair price. The team did a good job, but we did notice some of the patch jobs falling apart or allowing bubbles to form after we painted. Considering how bad the siding was in places, I'm not shocked but it would have been nice if they had pulled us aside to replace the boards that weren't serviceable instead of patching. I had a leak with my fire sprinkler system and after I had that repaired (get your fire sprinklers inspected folks), I needed someone to fill and patch the hole. I already looked at the reviews for Longshore but decided to open up a project on Yelp for comparison anyway. To my delight, they were one of the first to respond. Alexander was friendly and answered all of my questions, so I booked the job for that week. Julio (who turns out to be family) showed up promptly and got to work. He provided drop cloths and wore booties. I don't think it took him three hours to do the work and it was seamless. His clean up was also on point; normally they leave something for me to have to clean up but I didn't have to. I had other patch work and filling that needed doing on my second floor (and along the stairs) and I booked them again and Julio came back out and took care of that work as well. I'm beyond pleased with the work done on the 2nd floor. The paint he got blended perfectly with my sage green walls, walls that have been painted that color over 17 years. I appreciated Julio's attention to detail and his clean-up was once again on point. Best of all, the price was reasonable and they didn't send an invoice right away to ensure that the work was done to my satisfaction. The response was very prompt however the price to replace 2 2x24 bathroom tiles and 6 12x12 kitchen tiles quoted as $1,250. I already have the extra tiles on hand but not the grout. To be fair, I didn't provide any pictures of the cracked tiles because I was at work. However I felt the price came out to $138 to replace each tile. I can easily do this myself but due to upcoming business commitments, I decided to get estimates so my tenant would be ready for the upcoming holiday guests. read more

When I first was looking for drywallers, I emailed around eight drywallers, and Longshore was the only one that was transparent. All the other ones hemmed and hawed at what the price would be "not knowing till they started working," but Longshore told me upfront what it would cost for material and labor for the size of the room (ended up finding out the cost was highly competitive for the area). I had to postpone because of plumbing problems, and they answered my emails within 24 hours and were super kind about it. When they came out, they were extremely professional drywalling a small bathroom with no ventilation and only a tiny hallway to work in. They not only did a great job but spackled the ceiling of a closet to match the ugly popcorn ceiling, AND when I pointed out how I screwed up and put a small hole in the wall, they fixed it. They didn't even tell me what they had done. I only noticed it after they had gone. I'm not sure other people would leave without pointing out that they went the extra mile. I'll be hiring them in the future and think you should give them your work. read more

We found Longshore Handyman on Yelp and engaged them to wall mount a flat screen TV and make some minor repairs at our house in East Richmond Heights. They were highly professional from start to finish and did an excellent job. Their name is a bit of a misnomer, as they do much more than "handyman" work. So when we decided to convert a bedroom closet into a laundry area we asked for their help. We could not be more impressed with their professionalism and quality of workmanship from start to finish of this five day project. Before starting, they took quite a bit of time to help us plan and to make sure it would be done exactly the way we wanted. Their rates are fair, and they are very transparent about any extra costs that might be involved (such as for materials purchase). Dennys (pronounced "Dennis") took the lead on our project and was personable and communicative throughout. I'd like to write a review about their work as carpenters, but I can't. Alex made an appointment to come and give me a bid on a fence rebuild. He was only available during the day M-F so I took the time off work and scheduled an appointment for 11:30. He never showed up. I called the office to ask what happened and they said "oh, yeah, you're on the schedule, he must have forgot." They said they could have someone else come out but it would be at least an hour more of waiting. I declined. Half an hour later, Alex reached out to say that Jesus had an emergency and that's why he didn't show up. There are very few emergencies where you can't at least shoot your client a text message. Communicating with your client would be the professional and responsible thing to do. I've been burned before by unprofessional contractors who don't show up when they're supposed to and I'm not interested in doing it again. read more

This review is long overdue! I hired Longshore in the Spring to work on a job for my grandfather. He's pretty old and not able to keep up with the yard work like he used to--it was out of control as you can see in the before pictures! I asked them to take a look and they made some suggestions about what could be done for cleanup AND for keeping the growth to a minimum, and shared what the expected cost would be. I liked how they broke it down for me exactly what I was paying for (materials and labor), and kept me informed on what was going on. Given the amount of work that needed to be done, the price was very reasonable. Alex did an amazing job in terms of being meticulous about each aspect of the cleanup as well as placement of landscaping tarp and the rocks on top. He was patient with me and all the questions I had, and with my dog who ended up spending time with him outside as he worked! Javier was clearly very experienced, and knew exactly what needed to be done, as well as how much time it would all take. Also, he fixed a broken piece of the wood in the front yard at no cost! As I said, this review is so overdue--in the months that have passed my grandpa has not had to pluck even one weed!!! He was eager to work out a solution. We set a time for an estimate.
