We called on a Sunday at 4. A SUNDAY at FOUR, people. They were out by 7 putting in a new handle assembly on our door. It was great that they even answered on a Sunday, even more so the fact that they came out on a Sunday! There were no extra fees for the Sunday work, and I thought it the service call charge was extremely reasonable. Our locksmith, who I believed was named Aaron was friendly and efficient. Ben gave me a quote over yelp messenger this morning. I got quotes from several local competitors and he had the best price BY FAR. I called them around 3:30 and got a voicemail. I left a message and a gentleman called me back within 2 minutes. He confirmed the estimate I had recieved earlier and said Ben was actually in my area if I was available. Of course I agreed. Within a minute of hanging up with the first gentleman, I got a call from Ben saying he was only 5 min away. Wow! So fast! I have to admit I was not prepared for how quick they were. Gave these guys a call early this morning. I returned from my run only to find I had locked myself out. Regular lever door, one key, no deadbolt lock. Asked them for cost of service, and they gave me a premium price of "starting $125-150." Wow. Robbery. Could not give me a cap on the price even when I gave them the brand name, how many pins, type and style of lock. Found someone else. Not sure how they got so many good reviews for that kind of strong-arm pricing. Update 2016-09-10 in response to company accusation that I did not call: photo uploaded of phone call record yesterday. I'm sorry your logs are inaccurate, and that your business could not compete. Update 2016-09-10, evening. Interesting that the owner removed his comment accusing me of never having called, however he did not remove his comment accusing me of attempting to ruin businesses. I provide reviews based on the service I get and the experience I receive. If you take issue with that, perhaps you should take it up with why your service was not well-received, and not by accusing people of "attempting to ruin businesses" by describing their experience with your service. As a side note, while yelp does not allow me to upload sound files, I also have a voice recording of the pricing you guys gave me. Would have been amusing, I'm sure, to see you delete the rest of your comment. There was no "break-in" and my dog was at home, which made the whole situation worse - someone who knew me (and my dog!) well enough to have my key did this. Came home from work last Monday and decided to take a quick dip in the pool. I took my phone outside to plug into the speaker system and grabbed a towel, then headed outside. On my way to the pool, I stepped in something disgusting and promptly turned around to get a paper towel only to find that... The back door has locked on me. I'm a new home owner, someone recommended that I should get my doors re-keyed, I thought it was a good idea so I went to Yelp for a trustworthy locksmith. This company had the best reviews so I decided to call them and get my doors re-keyed with them. I called them in the morning to get a quote on the service; I told them I would call later yo schedule an appointment. I called at around 3:30 pm and schedule an appointment for 7pm. So far everything was going according to plan. I got there -to my new home- 10 minutes before 7pm waited until around 7:10 and decided to give them a call. To my surprise the person who answer said the appointment was scheduled from 7pm to 8pm that was never discussed with me. The guy on the phone told me not to worry, most likely the technician was on his way, and that he was going to call me shortly. 10 minutes later I received a call and the guy at the other end says: "I'm the technician, what do we have there?" From this i get: no communication between the office and the technician at all. I explained what I needed and he said he was going to do another house and he will be on his way after, I thought that was fine and asked him for an ETA, on his words: "I don't know, traffic is bad and I've been on the road all day" I got upset and told him not to come anymore, that I will find someone else to do it for me tomorrow. Zero professionalism, my time nor my business valued. I'm not sure how they got this many good reviews. It's better to say upfront when i was making the appointment that they needed one hour window to show up and do the service or that they didn't have someone available at that time. That is what happens when a business puts too much on their mouth that they choke. (Too bad yelp don't let you post without stars) read more

Update (9/4): 1) Yelp account: Less than 12 hrs after posting the review, Ben from Best Locksmith called & clarified that the $10 discount is for having a yelp account & not giving a review. So plz make note of that. 2) Pricing: he also explained that their pricing is the most competitive...which it might be as we only called this one place. Our only suggestion was that they should tell the price upfront rather that after they come. Ben was attentive & said he will talk to Oscar about it...which is pretty cool... #oully -------------------- We needed a locksmith in short time & were looking for someone to come soon. I yelped for a locksmith & 'Best Locksmith' came up with good reviews so we called them. Operator Oscar was good and helpful. He realized the urgency of needing a locksmith & took the info ASAP & informed us someone would call soon. When asked about the cost, he informed us that it's a $25 service & that we could buy locks from the onsite technician. We informed him we already hv the locks & if that was an issue and he said no problem. Literally 35 mins later technician Ben called & was onsite to change the locks quickly. He was extremely professional & realizing that we were in a rush, he hurried up & got the locks done. Great personality & very helpful. We would hv given a 5 star for their service & experience but we are staying with a 4 star because we felt the pricing was a bit unclear... not sure by design or by accident. When we talked on the phone & asked Oscar how much is the cost, he said $25 for service & u can buy the locks. When we said we had the lock & if it was ok, he didn't tell us that 'changing' the lock is an additional $49 per lock. It was Ben onsite who told us that right before he was going to change the lock about the additional charge. When we indicated Oscar didn't mention it, he gave us a discount of $9 off each lock. It was helpful but it would be better if we knew upfront. Still even with this setback on pricing info, Ben made up for it with his service. Also, they offer a $10 off discount for yelp reviews. -I LOST ALL OF MY CAR KEYS- I have what's called, "anti-theft" keys, the ones with the micro-chips. The ones where you have to get them programmed, which at the dealership would have costed me 150.00 per key. -First of all, my car was at another location, but with A-STAR's great customer service, I was picked up from one location and driven to my car. TIME it takes to make a new key at the DEALERSHIP? 3 hours. TIME IT TOOK A-STAR? 20 minutes. I should also mention that A-STAR took a 30 minute detour from Dallas to the suburbs of Arlington, made me two copies (programmed anti-theft keys) for 225.00. total. If i wanted to take the dealership route, I would have had to get my car towed ($70.00+) and pay 300.00 for 2 keys and wait 3 hours. A STAR picked me up, took me to my car, made me 2 keys in 20 minutes AND charged 225.00 for two programmed anti-theft keys. It cannot get better than Rafael. He understands what the customer actually needs, gives honest feedback without any exaggeration or intention of making extra bucks and more importantly he is quick and very hard working. His prices/fees are reasonable. His customer service is really good. He changed the tumblers in all the locks and made duplicates of the main key. The keys fit perfectly in the lock and there was no hesitation in the movement. He also changed the mailbox lock for me. I am tad perfectionist kind of a guy. When I checked the mailbox there was a little play in the mailbox door. Most of the folks would have lived with it. I called up Rafael and he was there before sunset to take care of it. Every place I called wouldn't give me an exact price quote but a range of what it could be and on top of that a very high fee just to come out to quote. We had just purchased a new house and needed to re-key. I put A Star locksmith to the test. I had recently purchased two new beautiful bikes and they were locked with a crappy u-lock. Those are hard to get off. I called them up and they answered immediately. I didn't get a ringtone i got directly to the person in charge of doing the work. They saved my day! I called BL after running through some BS with PopALock. Best Locksmith took my information, said it would be about 15-20 minutes to open my apartment. Evidently the door knob busted and the latch wouldn't release rendering my key useless. The tech called me 5 minutes from my initial contact with the company and said he would be there in 15 minutes.
